I was actually so excited to go here to try this place out because im moving to fullerton in the fall and there were really good reviews about this place and i was raving about it to my mom… but right when we got here we were so disappointed. The restaurant is kinda in a rundown scary looking area. I guess living in the new parts of the suburbs have made my standards high. The restaurant was completely empty, but it was like 8:30 at night so idk if thats reasonable or not. When we stepped in, it smelled so bad. It literally smelled like sewage. The cups looked dirty and we ordered one bento box and tempura and my mom asked for the chicken teriyaki to be cooked well done(bc she likes it like that) and the chicken was like pink. it was abnormally like squishy too. I honestly dont know why this place has so many good reviews :(the guy was really nice and i felt bad that we barely touched the food and we said no to a box… but i would not come back here.

Save yourself time, go to sushi joint for basic rolls and a good time or Kaori for quality fish. This place had the slowest, most inept service I have ever received! I honestly feel like writing a good review on every other restaurant I’ve ever been to because I never knew what bad service was until now. The server wasn’t mean but just seemed to ignore every person in the restaurant. I mean I couldn’t even get a glass of water for 20 minutes and the sushi chef had to try his hardest to double task and do her job as well. I had to go to 7⁄11 next door to get a water, ITWASTHATSLOW!

Sashimi is pretty fresh but not spectacular. The sushi rolls are above average. This turns out to be a Korean operated Japanese fusion restaurant with Korean dishes on the menu. So compared to a genuine Japanese operated Sashimi restaurant there is still a gap in quality.

Fresh fish, amazing rolls and only the best customer service. Cory and his crew are incredible. They work hard and strive to make every customer happy. Keep up the great work and quality. Cheers.

The sushi grade sashimi is definitely not sushi grade. The sashimi was given to us frozen, specifically the tuna. The other sashimi were either breaking apart or was really old. The monk liver was also old and tasted like paste Paid $ 40 for really crappy quality fish and they called it premium. Definitely do not recommend this place.

Sadly, this place is not what is used to be. I have no idea what happened but it used to be bomb. The teppanyaki is delicious! But the atmosphere is awful. The sushi bar is no longer there! The place looks run down, blinds are dirty and its in serious need of a remodeling. I still love the food and the chili paste lol… But if they don’t get with it, this place might not be around too much longer :(

We came here just after the lunch specials but before the dinner rush. It’s a pretty small restaurant between the two Fullerton colleges. The waitress was friendly and didn’t bug us too much. They have a bunch of paper place mats on the walls that local artists doodle on, pretty cute idea. My husband ordered the katsu curry meal which came with a scoop of white steamed rice, what looked like a tablespoon of salad, and one cutlet sliced. He was served a separate bowl of the curry rather than over the meat/rice. The curry was very WATERY and soup-y. Had a good flavor but most places we’ve been to for katsu kare is has much thicker, stew-like curry. We shared an order of gyoza, which were overcooked and burnt to hell on the edges :/Never have I had gyoza so crunchy all the way through. The sauce was VERY good though at least, rich savory flavor. I had yakisoba only because I wasn’t that hungry and it was one of the lesser expensive dishes. It would have been much better as a side dish, doesn’t have enough flavor to carry its own as a main meal and pretty oily. Overall, the service is good and the food is average, $ 33 got us 1 entrée, 2 appetizers, 2 drinks and a side of yakisoba. Not sure I’ll be back unless it’s for their lunch specials. A decent place for people who want some Japanese food that isn’t sushi or teriyaki bowls.

It’s a bummer that this place’s service is so slow because they serve some really fresh, tasty fish. This place has some of the best sushi I’ve tasted in Fullerton by far. They also have a delicious stuffed and baked avocado. If you have the time and patience to sit down at this place, you won’t be disappointed. It was frustrating because we had to ask for our miso soup three times. If we didn’t remind them those three times, we wouldn’t have gotten it at all. Same thing with our crispy rice spicy tuna. Reminded them twice that we ordered the crispy rice tuna. The place wasn’t even busy for a Saturday night. Great food, snail speed service. I recommend ordering take out compared to sitting down.

Although the service could be a bit better, Tokyo Kitchen was well worth it. The happy hour menu for their sushi could was lacking variety, but there were still some rolls that may satisfy your sushi cravings. One major thing that stood out to me is the size of the rolls. Sushi places tend to shrink their rolls, especially during happy hour. Tokyo Kitchen, on the other hand, put out rolls that were about 3 inches in height. In addition, the fish tasted fresher than many of the sushi joints I tried in the area. I definitely would recommend Tokyo Kitchen! Great sushi and great proportions.

This is a nice location. It’s very small inside so coming in a large group may be difficult if the tables are already in use and your group will have to separate. The prices are a bit more expensive than other places that are nearby, even for their happy hour. The service was friendly, but the place didn’t really seem as clean as it could be. #93/100

Tokyo Kitchen was a delightful gastronomic experience for the novice and expert Japanese food enthusiast alike. Service was excellent in casual atmosphere. Definitely not a stuffy joint. Udon was delicious and my calamari salad was the best I’ve had.

So my boyfriend wanted to try this place out because of the high reviews, but it was kind of disappointing. The restaurant opens at 3PM& we came at 3:30PM. There was no one there & the sushi chef said the waitress would take our order. We came before our waitress. Our waitress arrived after we did when the restaurant opens at 3PM … So by the time she arrived we gave her our order. Again, there was no one in restaurant & service was terribly slow. It probably took close to 30 mins for our orders to arrive. We ordered the Baked Scallop Roll, Hawaiian Roll, Salmon Hand Roll, & Tamago. My bf hated his sushi because wasabi was rolled into our sushi. We didn’t get the option to traditionally dip our sushi into wasabi & soy sauce … I didn’t enjoy the Baked Scallop Roll. The scallops tasted really off, part of me felt like it tasted like chicken but idk. & Lastly, they mixed up our orders by giving me eel versus tamago. Ultimately, this restaurant isn’t very good. The waitress & sushi chef really lacked skills. The sushi chef took too long making our food & the waitress hardly ever came to our table to check up on us.

Amazing, amazing, amazing food! My supervisor took me out for lunch here on my last day of my job with a couple of my other coworkers. We had an amazing time here with good service, and some of the best sushi I’ve had. We ended up ordering some appetizers which included an avocado which had spicy tuna and crab alongside some spicy sauce and some eel sauce. It was delicious! We also got some deep fried mushrooms which were stuffed with spicy tuna that were equally delicious. We ordered a variety of rolls which included a spider roll, a super philadelphia roll, a crunch roll, and a couple of other rolls that I forgot. Everything was essentially amazing, and I really enjoyed the food. The service was a little slow for lunch, but the quality of the fish, and the taste of the food really made up for this.

Friendly service, and great sushi. We ordered a couple of sushi/roll lunch specials, salmon skin hand roll, and monkfish liver. The sushi was fresh, rolls were tasty(Hawaiian and dragon), and the monkfish liver was simple but very delicious. My only complaint is, the rolls and sushi had a bit too much rice. Overall great experience, will be back.

Tokyo Kitchen is a hidden gem. Tucked away in a small plaza off Chapman, it is an unassuming restaurant with amazing tastes, amazing staff, and amazing quality. By far, Chef Corey has shown me some of the most delicious and generous portion of sushi I have ever experienced. The quality and taste of their nigri and sashimi will be forever ingrained on my taste buds. A considerable portion of the review talks about their rolls, but we must not forget their nigri and sashimi. ITISSOGODDAMNGOOD! If you are in the area, go. Go visit Chef Corey and his staff. Go try their delicious tuna, salmon, herring, toro and all the other goodies Tokyo Kitchen offers. It has great ambiance for different settings. For me, I like their weekday nights, it is somewhat more quiet, so I can sit at the bar with my fiancé drooling over the sashimi. Tokyo Kitchen is awesome.

I’ve been to a number of Japanese sushi restaurants in the area and Tokyo Kitchen was OKAY. The service was good and the chefs and servers are very friendly. However, I thought their portion size was huge and they used way too much rice in their rolls. I got two sushi combos during their happy hour and it was a great deal! The sushi combos come with 4 different sushis(Tuna, Shrimp, Salmon, Albacore) and any special roll on their menu. I got the Las Vegas Roll and the Super Volcano Roll. They were both recommended and both good. I liked the Super Volcano Roll, but there was so much rice in the Las Vegas Roll. I also felt the sushi slices were cut a little too thick. I do really REALLY recommend their Spicy Albacore Handroll though! It was absolutely delicious! It was pretty spicy, but I love spicy flavors. I would definitely go back just for their handroll.

After eating here I have no desire to go anywhere else for sushi. Everything is wonderful, especially the veggie rolls! Best veggie rolls I’ve ever had. Chef Cory and his staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Plus there are plenty of vegan options!
