We usually enjoy Steak and Shake, but this was the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant!!! The whole restaurant was filthy. They were almost empty but insisted on seating us at a table that needed to be cleaned. They cleaned it by sweeping fries and all onto the floor with a rag. I walked by the kitchen, and I have never seen anything so dirty, well except their bathroom. The toilets and sink were so built up with dirt, they were gray. The food wasn’t good, and our shake glasses were covered on the outside with chocolate syrup that got all over our clothes. Maybe I should send them my cleaning bill. We will never eat there again!!!

The food here is absolutely amazing for it being fast food breakfast Skillets are second-to-none there’s no way to beat them anywhere in the area the problem is the service it’s unbelievable believable I question my sanity every time I come in here

Today’s experience at #519 was one of the worst I’ve ever had. Don’t ever go here. Everyone should be fired and the franchisee forbidden from doing anything customer service related. During today’s visit, we were there for an hour. At no time were there more than 4 tables occupied. In that time I saw: 1) A family of 3 waiting for more than 40 minutes for ANY food. and the food delivered was wrong. 2) My fries measured less than a centimeter at any point. 3) Two teenagers who waiting 30 minutes for shakes, those two were the only shakes delivered during this time, even though I overheard orders for them from at least 4 tables. 4) One person was serving, cleaning tables, and seating people. One server was outside on break, and one was serving ice cream to children at the bar she obviously knew/was related to. 5) At least 20 people left because of the line to get seated. That’s right, to get seated in a room less than 25% full. I’m ashamed for ever having given these people any money.

This is an updated review. From 1 star to 4 stars. Food has always been good. The usual bad part(and other reviews will back this up) is the service. It has gotten better. The past several visits the service has been much improved in getting seated, order taken quickly and food delivered hot. The only disappointment today was the fries, which are usually good. So just an off day. They weren’t real fresh. Drink refills were on the table before we needed them. Our server was Kamyron, sweet girl.

Read all of the other reviews before coming in. Nothing has changed. 13 tables open and we still had to wait over 20 minutes to get a seat. When we were finally seated I told the manager that 5 families had walked out. She literally said«oh well». «I apologize». Like all of the other reviews, HORRIBLYUNDERSTAFFED. It’s been over half hot now and still no food. Out server is the only one here and she is great. STEERCLEAROFTHISLOCATIONUNLESSYOUHAVEALLDAY!!! Trash all over the floor. Update. After sitting here now for over 40 minutes and no food, II can see they continue to focus on the drive they orders. So I asked if I needed to drive thru and bring my food inside to eat it It was only then our server went to the kitchen to tell them I had complain and THEN our food was STARTING to be cooked. Who knows how long we would have been here had I not complained!!!

Love the food. The biggest issue I have with this location is there never seems to be enough staff on duty. The food, when it arrives, is delicious. The wait staff are professional. There are just not enough of them.

I went there for lunch the restaurant was almost empty except for couple customers. I was seated immediately. I ordered the Jalapeño Steak burger n fries, they brought my order pretty quick. The meat was fresh, had the spicy kick of jalapenos on the savory chipotle mayo sauce. It was just the right portion and tasty.

Horrible, took the waitstaff 10 minutes to seat us even though there were enough tables to easily sit the 3 parties waiting. We waited an additional 10 min to take our order, reminder, the restaurant was not busy. The waitress was friendly but the food was about room temp. The waitress forgot my coleslaw but was charged for it. The chili cheese fries were just plain nasty. I will never eat at Steak N Shake again.

We came here for quick cheap breakfast this morning. Honestly waiting 40 mins for our breakfast to make it to our table is skittle bit ridiculous… Once the food arrived it was fresh and hot, so it’s good. It tasted good too… Our waitress was some what nice, but no refills for drinks and didn’t bring sirup for the pancakes… Since we waited so long, my toddler was done before I had a chance to finish my breakfast, I had to shove the rest in my mouth and head out… The only positive was that we paid only $ 15 for 2 adult meals and 1 kid meal

This is the worst location I’ve ever been to. Seriously, avoid this location at all costs. The Plano one is way better. When we walked in, there were two tables with customers and six dirty tables. Staff was running around there like chickens with their heads cut off. It took them almost 10 minutes to seat us. Multiple staff members walked by ignoring us. It wasn’t until a massive group walked in behind us that they finally bothered to seat us. Service was terrible. Worse than terrible. Our waitress took her time getting our order. Our food took over 20 minutes. Drink refills? Ha. The entire place was disgusting. Our menus, table, and napkins all had random hairs in them. We never got our ticket. After waiting another 15 minutes, we gave up and just went to checkout. The guy who rang us out, Falkowski Odneal, was nothing short of a jerk. I handed him a coupon for $ 4.99 for the Frisco melt dinner and he informed me that’s not what I received. I received the Frisco melt with one side. The dinner comes with two. I told him what I told the waitress was«Frisco melt dinner» because I read it off the coupon. It’s not my fault she got it wrong. Plus I saved them money by only getting one side instead of two. He got annoyed and started banging away at the cash register. After a few minutes, he took 50 cents off and gave us the new total. The receipt was not itemized. All it says is «total before discount» and a 50 cent discount. He never said thank you, have a nice day, thanks for coming in, nothing like that. Oddly enough, he asked the middle aged white woman in front of us «How was everything today» along with«Thank you for coming in». I’m an engineer and my wife is a RN. Just because we look young doesn’t mean you can be rude to us.

Went in at 2:30 for lunch, party if 6. A large party(about 15 people) had walked in right before us. They were told it would be 15 minutes or so to be seated. There were smaller tables available(for 6 or less). After 15 minutes, our presence was finally acknowledged. The server told us we could be seated, but we wouldn’t be able to place our order until after the larger party had been seated & placed their order. Really?! Needless to say, we decided to leave & go elsewhere. The server shrugged her shoulders at us & walked away. Also, the wait staff was not nice to each other!

Went in after 2 o’clock today to get lunch. Waited for ten minutes to get seated, which was fine, it was obviously a little bit busier than usual. We could see the manager standing back by the Point-of-Sale systems the whole time, not really doing anything. Eventually he came and sat us, then left without at least taking our drinks. I don’t know if he thinks that he’s above taking orders or what, but we’ve both worked in multiple restaurants, so we know when a manager is refusing to step in and help. Then we waited for over ten minutes for a server with no luck, so we left. Look, we could see that there was a somewhat large party there, so I can understand a little delay in getting our food out, but not even getting drinks or taking orders? When the man-in-charge is standing around doing nothing, that falls on management. We won’t be returning here.

Came in for milkshakes, waited in line for 5 – 6 mins, and when I finally got to the counter to order, some guy from the back of the kitchen in a green apron looks at me while yelling at to the cashier directly in front of me, «We’re NOT doing anymore take out orders! NOMOREORDERSTOGO!!». Really? It’s 10pm and the sign says«OPEN24HOURS». Being a retired Army Paratrooper, there were times when I’d tell one of my Soldiers«You’re going to do your job son. People are counting on you. If you don’t wanna do your job, you need to go into another line of work. But today, right now, you’re going to do what you are being paid to do.» The conversation I had with the«night crew» was very much along those lines, but with a much«firmer» tone. They all looked at me in shock, but I got my milkshakes for my family nonetheless. And yes, they were TOGO! With that said, I would recommend the manager, owner, or whomever is «in charge», to either get your«team» on the same sheet of music as your organization, get new team members, or risk having more disgruntled customers Running out of product, or having equipment fail, IS grounds for not being able to provide a service, or product. Not wanting to do something because«it’s late«…You obviously need to seek a new form of employment. May I suggest something NOT in customer service or in the service industry. Let me own a business with a huge sign in the window that reads«OPEN24HOURS», and find out one of my employees told a customer they weren’t going to provide a service because«it’s late». Two words come to mind… YOU’REFIRED! Don’t wanna do job son? No problem. I’ll get someone else in here who will. It’s that simple. Then again, I’m just a retired Soldier…

My family and I went to Steak and Shake for lunch and we were so disappointed in the lack of cleanliness. There was only one other family in the restaurant and the table and booths were dirty, the bathrooms were filthy and there were no paper towels in the bathrooms. It makes you wonder if the staff wash their hands. They didn’t even have the basic necessities such as bags for carry out.

Walked in just before midnight. Service was so bad, walked out without even ordering… kind of hard to do when all the workers were too busy talking amongst themselves, no one would take our order… and we were seated at the counter!!! Went to In and Out instead, great service and better food!

Do you want to go back in time? Well I don’t have a time machine but going to Steak and Shake is stepping back in time to a 50’s diner. It was very clean and and we were greated as soon as we walked in the door. I was just placing a to go order to bring lunch to my husband. My son was the only one to order a cheeseburger he said it was good. He also had a peanut butter cup shake that he devoured. So, I would say it was a winner. He did not like the fries, he said they tasted like peanuts? Maybe they fry their fries in peanut oil? The hubby and I both ordered grilled chicken sandwiches. The chicken was very chewy, I would not order it again. We also both subbed side salads. The lettuce was not fresh. Probably my fault for ordering salads at a burger joint.

The only reason I even come here is because of the prices and I guess the foods ok too. The service here just plains sucks. I’m happy that they hire mentally and physically challenged people as we all need to be able to work and help society but this is ridicules. They never come check on you. When you arrive it take forever for them to seat you. They don’t give you silverware and if you ask for some they get upset and just forget about trying to get s refill. They always only have one server even when it’s packed. Today was the same and then all of these people came out of the back including management. This company need a complete makeover from the owner down. What a shame as this place has so much potential. On the food, it’s never consistent. Some time you get the right amount of fries and then you don’t. It’s really hot or miss.
