I do know for a fact prior to visiting this establishment that Mexican cuisine has some familiarity with the Japanese food: sushi — especially with raw fish taking centre stage in both cuisines(taking into comparison of ceviche and sushi), therefore I was actually excited to taste an interpretation of sushi and Mexican blended in harmony. Ultimately from my visit, I actually enjoyed the sushi-mexican flare at Mariscos El Sushi– it wasn’t actually that bizarre, instead it was actually good, considering most american sushi joint already made their sushi deep fried, stuffed with cream cheese, meats, avocado and chicken; I was however deeply disappointed with the Mexican seafood dishes that I found to be serving nasty tasting seafood.(not fresh and tasted fishy) The meal started off strong with a complimentary starter of crispy tortillas and a tangy spicy salsa. I ordered the Cameron tostada(raw shrimp ceviche served with crispy toasted tortilla) $ 7.99 and Mar Y Tierra $ 10.99 a deep fried sushi filled with deep fried shrimp, cream cheese, avocados, cucumber and chicken), and that was great but then the meal experience fell flat with the mexican coctelazo $ 12.99. I was honestly contented with the mexican sushi, it was crispy and it had a nice blend of flavors from the nicely seasoned and crispy shrimp, to the creaminess from the cream cheese and avocado. And the Cameron tostada was actually really delicious, a tangy burst of lime flavor with fresh green tomatillo juice, combined with fresh onions and coridander leaves, was topped on this raw shrimp dish. The shrimp itself was the small sized ones, and tasted fresh. The $ 10 meal portion would leave you somewhat full for a while, but its not wholesome, its more like a meal appetizer in my opinion, to feel fuller a $ 12 and up meal would have to be ordered. The Coctelazo with mix seafood was nasty in my opinion. The cocktail itself was generously served with seafood, and I had no complaints if it was just the shrimp, since it was fresh, however the octopus and fish pieces were nasty and fishy(a sign that it wasn’t fresh). The cocktail itself was too much tomato in taste, and lacks in the essence of lime juice and cilantro, which would have complimented this dish well. The service stated off great and friendly, this was when the place was entirely empty of course(when I came in), but once the big groups started coming 20 minutes later, their service grew slow and inattentive, and they seem to get the orders mixed up terribly. I could sense a poor communication and poor team work in the kitchen. The menu itself was in Spanish writing with no english description, I felt like I was in Mexico almost reading off a menu without an english in sight. I think having an english menu is rather important to appeal to a wider customer base. They do however have english speaking waitress who is willing to explain, but its rather difficult for a non-spanish speaking person to read the menu. The seating itself was honestly tacky; with the Chinese styled buffet banquet chairs and old diner table– therefore not a place for a date, but maybe a quick foodie adventure, the establishment was clean, and I do like the various hot sauces presented on the table. The parking was easy, since they have their own private lot, despite being located in the same shopping centre as vallarta, where parking is known to be a nightmare. Overall Improvement is needed: 1. Get fresher seafood– especially fish and octopus 2. Get the service together when they get busy, 3. Plus a english translated menu might get me back in. On a side note they also have a drive thru for convenince, yes a drive thru mexican sushi place.

Awesome spot– fresh and fun take on some of our favorite foods. Sushi with a Mexican influence, and more traditional Mexican seafood plates. Can’t wait to see what they come up with. Great service and great prices.

Absolutely awesome! Walk, run, swim to this place – your taste-buds will thank you. Yummy salsa and crispy table chips. The salsa tastes homemade, and has just enough heat to let you know the chilis are fresh. The tortillas for the tacos were made fresh for our order – makes all the difference in the world! Like the difference between a box-mix cake and one made from scratch… sure they’re both cake, but you know which one brings flavor and satisfaction. The octopus(pulpo) was perfectly cooked, and the fried fish was moist-tender on the inside with a fabulous delicate crunch on the out. I highly recommend the«bombas de jalapeño»: if your ordinary jalapeño popper could dream, it’d fantasize about being good enough for this dish… large, fresh jalapenos hollowed out, stuffed with shrimp and cream cheese, dipped in panko, then flash fried to bring out the hint of sweetness that’s hidden in a jalapeño. Simply amazing. Adding sushi to the menu was a brilliant idea! Fresh seafood, rice, ripe avocado… of *course* Mexico could have invented California-style sushi. True to its new roots, the sushi is served with tampico(a composed salad of shredded carrot and red cabbage) instead of wasabi & pickled ginger. I will definitely be returning, and will be bringing my friends & family as well. This restaurant is a wonderful place for traditional Mexican favorites and also for exploring some of the same(excellent-quality) ingredients prepared in a fusion style. I look forward to coming here for years.

I’ve been dying to try this place and I finally did tonight. I had the spicy roll, the crunchy and the orange roll plus chicken/fish tacos. Great service and even better food. I love the fusion! The spicy roll could’ve been spicier, I felt that the crunch was spicer but all rolls were beautifully assembled and put together. It was delicious and aesthetically pleasing. Support this business! It’s well worth the trip. :)

Went in last week and my husband is still talking about his governador tacos so they must of been GREAT. I had a sushi roll don’t quite remember the name but it was ok I’m used to raw sushi but the toppings tasted amazing. My husband loved the salsa they had on the table and we were informed that we could buy some there. I loved the fact that the owner walked by all of the tables and asked how everyone was doing and even refilled our drinks. Great service.

The foods were okay, went in thought we would get something to wow about, but there is nothing really to brag about here. My fish civiche was plain, sushis were like grocery store bought products, might as well go to win Co for their sushi items, they taste a lot better. Yes, that’s how bad it is. Honestly, I’d rather go to Vallarta for their ceviche dishes, tacos from robertitoes and sushi from a real sushi restaurant. Their foods were over priced as well. I’m sorry, this will be my first and last visit. They need to step it up or else it’d be like any other business there.

Well — the reviews say it all. This is definitely a great place/find, from the moment you walk in, to the last bite of your meal — amazing. It’s a family owned joint by a young entrepreneur who is ambitiously passionate about his establishment, his product and customer experience… and trust me, it shows! The young gal who greeted me at the counter knew the menu well, made great recommendations but only after taking the time ask me questions about what I like and what I was looking for — wow — truly a dying skill set In the world of Epicureanism! This place was cool find. They offer up slow authentic Mexican eats along with a creative spin on sushi with a warm Mexican twist. The food was delicious! I ordered way too much but I didn’t care… I just wanted to sample as Muchas I could — and America, did I… lol. I’d definitely come back — that’s a no-brainer. Fresno, I keep finding these little nuggets here — pretty cool stuff! Enjoy.

We walked in and sat down right away. They served us chips and salsa, which was delicious, but really spicy. Our server was quick to bring drinks and help with the menu. The music was a little loud. While we were discussing where to sit, away from speakers, they let us know that they would turn the music down. Bonus points for thoughtfulness. We tried one of the fried rolls and one cold. Both were delicious but we liked the cold roll a little more. As we were close to finishing, the server checked in to make sure we liked our choices. We will definitely be back.

Tried it out for the first time today and was pleasantly surprised. I drove by while and pulled into their parking lot after reading their sign, «Mariscos El Sushi», what a strange fusion. I had to stop and satisfy my appetite and curiosity. I had the shrimp aquachile with green sauce, amazing flavors! The polite & friendly server came by about 4 times to make sure everything was ok. I’ll definitely be back and recommend.

I never had this kind of sushi. It sounds like a fusion of mexican Japanese food. Definitely gotta try the mar y tierra roll it had carne asada and deep friend shrimp. If your the type of person that does not like sushi please try this place you will have a change of heart. The carne asada tacos are delicious too the meat was extra flavorful and crispy I think Im in love.

I’ve been anxiously waiting for this place to open and I finally got the chance to stop by. Well let me just say, well worth the wait. Food was delicious we got the Mar y Tierra roll, sushito roll and the Pha1 roll. But all 3 rolls were delicious! We also ordered the red aguachiles and I will warn you they are SPICY but they have excellent flavor. The waitress was friendly, helpful and attentive and the owner came to introduce himself as well. Fast service was a plus as well. As stated before not many tables but hey its an up and coming restaurant. I’m positive it’ll do well. Lord knows we needed another option, besides that disgusting over-rated expensive Mariscos Costa Azul, for delicious seafood and Sinaloa style sushi. Now we no longer have to drive way down south for that kind of sushi.

What do you get when you combine Mexican food with sushi? Sushi wrapped in frijoles! Lol j/k. I cannot tell you how long I’ve been waiting for this place to open. In the meantime, we’ve been debating at work just what the food was going to be like. At long last, grand opening was a couple days ago, and I’ve been looking for an excuse to swing by. I asked the girl at the counter what she recommended, which was the spicy sushi. She assured me it wasn’t spicy, and that she isn’t sure why they call it that. I don’t do spicy, so I had to trust her. I waited a good 15 – 20 min before my food was ready. I wondered how it would hold up after my 25 min drive home. But I could not wait to share my find with my wife. I let her have the first bite, then I shared some bites with the kids. Everybody liked it. I paid a bit more than I would have wanted, but this is sushi. Fried sushi at that. This is not a run in and out location, unless you order ahead. There aren’t a whole lot of tables, but it’s new, and therefore not a problem when I went in as there weren’t many people. I cannot wait to come back and try some of their other offerings
