Excellent tri-tip and love the convenience! There’s not a lot of great food places around the area so it is a great alternative to fast food. The food is fresh and the staff are sooooo nice :) I’ve had their trip-tip dinner, tri-tip sandwich, and the tri-tip salad. The prices are good and the food is pretty amazing :) even though the food is made fresh the service is still quick!!! I can get my food and eat in my half hour lunch break. :)

Great food and great service! They make it really easy to call in your order and pick it up. Takes just minutes! I have only had the tri-tip salad and I have had it several times. It’s hard to change the order when you find something so good!

I came to Big D’s to pick up a tri-tip dinner for a friend of mine, so I didn’t taste the food. The people were very friendly. The place itself looked clean, but old school. The menu board outside advertising a special seemed to have a higher price than the same thing listed on their regular menu… It wasn’t busy during lunchtime, but it’s kind of in an awkward spot, so maybe a lot of people walk over from the hospital. I ordered extra tri-tip for a buck or two, but if that’s extra, then I cringe to think what they’re serving as a regular portion. Guessing they just forgot, which kind of sucks when I was the only order they were making at the time. I DID like that they cooked it in front of you, that they asked you how well-done you wanted your meat and that they made you feel welcome. If I were a meat-eater, I’d give it another try.

I give this place a 4⁄5 for many reasons. The location is great and very convenient if you work at Community Hospital or simply want a yummy and fast option for lunch in downtown. I’ve only had their tri-tip salad and chicken tortilla soup, both were good. The only reason I give them a 4 is because I would like to see a more generous serving of tri-tip on the salad. I’d easily pay$ 1 for more tri tip. The prices are great and really quite inexpensive if you’re looking for a tasty and rather healthy meal. Be sure and check out D’s if you want a tasty satisfying lunch, you won’t be sorry.

Not from around here and I saw this place had a lot of good reviews so figured I’d check it out. I was looking for something hardy and filling and this place did not dissapoint with their trip tip platter. The steak is average but with the homemade, thick, sweet BBQ sauce it was great. I don’t understand why the chilli as a side dish when you’re already having steak but it was OK and helped fill me up. The customer service was my favorite part. I didn’t realize they were closing when I walked in but they let me sit down and eat my meal without rushing me or even telling me they were going to close. Very nice ppl. Would come here again if I lived here.

First and foremost, excellent tri tip. Today was my first trip here, and I knew I was in my sort of joint when I was asked, «medium rare ok?» As though anything cooked more is deviant and wrong(it is). Delicious meat cooked perfectly with a great sauce. Great price. I wish they served fries instead of the side of chips, but the sandwich will definitely bring me back.

Big D’s Tri-Tip is amazing! Their customer service was also fantastic! I have already recommended it to friends and family who work and visit the downtown area often! It’s also walking distance from downtown Fresno hospital(CRMC.)

It’s new businesses like Big D’s Tri Tip that are helping the process of reviving downtown Fresno. Finally got the opportunity to visit this place and I’m totally happy I did!!! Ordered two of the Friday specials which were tri tip plates. Each plate consisted of 4 – 5 cuts of very well prepared tri tip, and I know tri tip!!! The remainder of the plate was a salad with your choice of dressing, the ranch dressing was some of the best I have had. To complete the plate there is chili which is quite tasty and grilled bread. Also included a beverage, all this for $ 8.99!!! Two of us ate for under $ 20.00!!! The atmosphere is casual and for a smaller business tables are spread out enough so it’s not like your sitting on top of other patrons. You order up front and your number is called when ready. The staff are some of the friendliest I have encountered. Their customer service went above and beyond, very friendly!!! The meal and the experience were fantastic!!! Each day of the week there is a special, I can’t wait to try them all!!!

Its was good, just way to small. Wish they would give you a little more. My personal opinion is, if you’re close I would stop but would not go out of my way for it.

More like a 3.5 for the Tri-Tip, but wanted to just round it up because the service has always been great so far. For Tri-tip, this place is not bad! Certainly not the best in town in my opinion(I still think Westwoods and Keiths are the best ones I have tried so far), but nonetheless the Tri-tip here is probably one of the more better tasting ones in Fresno. It may not be loaded as much as Dog House, but it’s not even close to being dry as what they serve there. I was kind of hesitant at first, since I couldn’t see or smell a smoker in the restaurant, but to my surprise the Tri-Tip served here all have a nice smoke ring to it, which leads me to believe that it is smoked somewhere else and just heated up here. Not my preference I know, but trust me — it still had a nice smokey, and really moist texture to it. Pros– –Pretty moist, Tri-Tip served on a French roll –CHEAP prices($ 5.99 for a Tri-tip sandwich) –Really friendly service(The owner was kind enough to give me a free sample of the tri-tip, and I didn’t even ask for it) –Plenty of curbside parking, no meters –Daily specials Cons– –Not enough sides. Fries always goes good with Tri-Tip, but it is not served here –Tri-Tip can use a little more seasoning. BBQ sauce definitely made it better to eat it up

It was the best tri tip sandwich ever –the bread was fresh and just toasty enough, and the tri tip was very tender. The bbq sauce was great. I had a side of potato salad, and it was good too! My friend had the chili, which looked yummy, and another friend said the corn on the cob is sweet! Prices are reasonable also, so I would definitely recommend.

This restaurant is Great. Very generous portion, friendly owner/staff. Clean… The restaurant has a good feel… its on a vibrant corner, trains pass by and the aroma of smoked tri tip is inviting. Very good value… Wednesday special is priced just right!!! I wish they had french fries to go with thier meals. Highly recomended…

Great tri tip sandwich and even better price. The roll they served it on tasted fresh from the oven. The lady next to me ordered the tri tip salad and it was huge! Can’t wait to try it next time. I just wish they were open later.
