Woke up yesterday (Wednesday) morning and had a bagel and cream cheese crave which needed to be satisfied. I was looking for a special bagel with tasty toppings on the outside and a chewy inside. So i went on Unilocal and found a place with great reviews and a special of 12 bagels and a free 8oz cream cheese for $ 9.25. The address was conveniently located on the Long Island Expressway and I do recall driving by a bagel store many times while heading west on said expressway…
When i got there, i noticed the «special» signs just like i saw on their website. I went inside, but they didn’t have as many bagels as I thought they would have; found it very odd but figured they must have been selling like crazy! Since they didn’t have many bagels, I requested a mix of onion bagels, garlic bagels, and i believe what was a garlic or onion bialy from the nice hispanic guys at the counter. I reminded them about the free cream cheese and they paused for a second while looking at me confused. I was like, «buy a dozen and get free cream cheese, right?!? That’s what the sign says outside…» They eventually threw in the cream cheese and i was set. When i asked them how much, the guy said…$ 9 which i found odd cause the site said $ 9.25. The total came out to $ 10.20 after tax and at that moment i felt compelled to ask the guys, «When did you guys change names from BAGEL OASIS?» They informed me that BAGEL OASIS was a few blocks down…
CRAP!!!
I went to the wrong damn bagel joint. Now it’s beginning to make sense to me why there weren’t that many bagels and why it was only $ 9 before tax. After i walked out the door all perplexed, I looked at the «special» signs and they all read «weekend special» which i didn’t notice before. Oh well… simple misunderstanding and I was in a rush to go… hahaha
As for the bagels, they were too tough. But take it for what it’s worth because i went on the wrong day. I’ll give the place 3 stars for now just to be fair since it was my error and they still hooked me up.
REMINDER: The best time to go would be on the WEEKEND!!!
Weekend special:
1) buy 6 bagels and get 3 free
2) buy 12 bagels and get 6 free or 8oz cream cheese
FYI: the bagels and bialys still smell great!
