I love this place! I go there for their lobster bisque, weekly. Even when they ran out, the cashier went to their restaurant and got me some. My friend goes there for their fresh fish.

I am so conflicted… We have been coming here for years. We have bought lobster, clams, whole fish, etc. What’s up with the Chilean sea bass. I saw a worm several months back. How common is this? I was here Labor Day weekend. They moved to new store a just short distance away. Yet another worm(parasite?). I know this can happen with certain types of fish. I don’t know why I did not say anything. How could they not see it? I ate at their restaurant once(pretty bad)., but always loved their store. I honestly did not know how many stars to give. The guys working here are very nice and once again, I regret not saying anything.

Great place for fresh seafood. They are friendly and accommodating. They will shuck your clams and oysters for you. Fillet your fish. Cook it too. buy 3 dozen clams get one free. I go here first then go to the restaurant :)

My father and I have always had Captains Ben’s as our go to when we go out on the boat and don’t catch dinner. I have been going here since I was alittle girl. The guys are always helpful in there especially when it comes to cleaning and fileting fish. Strangely enough I cant leave here without their super fresh bread at the counter when you pay. Sadly I have to say prices have gone up and the quality of fish has suffered lately.

Wonderfully fresh seafood to take home and cook. However, we were sadly intending to dine there. The Manhattan Chowder and cold fried calamari. When I mentioned the chilly fried calamari, staff kindly microwaved the dreck. The accompanying cocktail sauce frozen. Solidly frozen. Soup not only yesterday’s, chef must have been asleep. Hey, whaddayawant for 17 bucks?

Just to be clear, this review is for Captain Ben’s fish market which is owned by the same people as Bracco’s and is right next door. We have always had a good experience with this fish market. It’s clean, and the customer service is great. They have listened to us when we described to them what we were looking for, we did not even know the exact name of the fish, but based on what we told them, they recognized what it was, apologized for not having it and suggested a close match, which was really great. They would also steam lobster, shrimp, crab if requsted, for free. We have started getting whole salmon from them, it’s reasonable priced at 7 bucks per pound, and they would prepare it for us, we would get 2 huge fillets for a grill, and then the rest of it with the head to be used for a fish soup. The guys who clean the fish are very friendly, and they work so hard, give them a few bucks when you are there. This is our go to place for fish.
