We decided on this museum based on Unilocal reviews. It did not disappoint. They had numerous structures with lots of information. I loved the attention to detail. It was only $ 5 for adults. Well worth the price!

Very nice museum complex. I do wish that there were guided tours, however. Overall, very enjoyable and well designed.

This is DEFINITELY very interesting. My husband and I were walking around Main Street and on one side of the street is this place. It’s a different layout than most museums since it’s not all in one big building. You check in at the desk that also acts as a visitor’s center. It’s $ 5 per person and you get a map of the property that literally has 9 or 10 buildings that you walk in and out of. On five acres of land, there is alot of walking involved, but you get to stop into actual houses of those that used to live there and a school. There’s a motion sensor that activates the commentary and it walks you through most of the building that you’re in. My nose was in high gear that day and I could really smell the… «old»… and it kind of got to me, but other than that, it really was interesting. To see how some lived during that time was amazing! Not all of the buildings that are there were originally built in that spot. Some were moved from different places, but you can tell which ones were moved and which ones were there since the building was erected. I’d say make this a stop when you’re on Main Street. Some of the buildings have A/C, others do not, so if you don’t like heat… try going in the Fall when the weather is a little cooler.

Make sure to take some time to stroll through this place. Well worth the $ 5. Such cool history! A little something for everyone. Fire trucks, old houses, old school, blacksmith shop etc. I think kids might like it without being bored. They have done a great job collecting all this historical stuff and preserving it for all of us to see. Definitely go when it is cooler outside. Great break from drinking and shopping!

Went during spring break, arriving mid-morning before the crowds got too bad. The kids enjoyed making their own rope and eating fresh biscuits. My daughter pumped the fire and received a hand-made nail from the blacksmith. They liked writing on the blackboard in the school house and playing with old-fashioned toys. They didn’t have a lot of patience for reading museum placards but these hands-on activities were a big hit.

Soooo worth the $ 5! I wish I had the whole day to go through everything! Ask questions and get involved! All the volunteers seemed to know so much about their craft or trade. The old houses were the coolest to see. one of them had an old cellar. You must check it out between the shopping and eating off Main Street.

Sometime between your brats, beer, wine, fudge, and ice-cream, make a little time to check this place out. It right on the main street, and it doesn’t take much time or money.
