Good solid safe(dependable) food. Good Asian food and sushi for small town America. Is it a 5star experience in Dallas or Austin? Well, no. But nice staff and good food in the Texas Hill Country.

After 5 years!!(Has it really been that long?) I thought I’d do an update. What makes a restaurant anywhere successful? Great personalized service supported by well prepared food. Andrew, Karen and staff have been consistently bringing these things to Fredericksburg for all those 5 years. The usual fare is, as always, very good. The addition of a «street noodle» menu last year has really upped the ante for the competition. I’ve had the great pleasure of trying non menu items hand crafted by none other than Andrew himself… make no mistake he might be the owner but this guy is as good a sushi itamae as you will find in central Texas. I’ve joked with him that I’m coming in and lay money down at the sushi bar and let him prepare what he wants. I may just do that! Having read all the reviews including the few 3 and 4 star ones I have to say… no restaurant is perfect certainly but I’ve read no other Unilocal reviews for Fredericksburg restaurants where the owner has taken time to respond to the few who’ve had less than what they expected. For all these things and more this is still the restaurant I most often go to here in Fredericksburg. Consistently great food and service.

Food was hot and good. Service was good also. Second time here on the way through town and enjoyed it both times. I will return.

Note to owners response: I must say I’m very disappointed in your lack of professionalism in your response. As you said, «It’s a shame that a small issue upset you»… being interrupted abruptly due to you & your staff’s indecisiveness on pricing is unacceptable. Granted that this happened not only once but three times. Indeed, this might be a minor issue but it’s something that should never happen in a table service establishment when diners are present. — — — — — — — — — — — — — — I always tend to crave for some type of Asian food when I’m away on vacation for some apparent reason. Thanks to Unilocal,we discovered this restaurant nearby our hotel. The Asian cuisine options are really limited in the Texan Hill Country… hence the higher prices. Panda offers a large variety of Chinese takeout on their menu, in addition to several traditional Thai and Cantonese-style dishes. They even offer sushi, which took me by surprise. We decided to give their sushi boat a try. For $ 50 you get: 16 pieces of sashimi, 12 nigiri, and 2 rolls. We didn’t care for the California roll so we requested to substitute it for an eel avocado roll. Our waiter says it shouldn’t be a problem and would need to double check with the chef. He returns saying there would be an additional charge of $ 1. We had no problem with this and told the waiter to go ahead with our order. I was ecstatic and couldn’t wait to get my sushi fix. My bf spotted the waiter speaking to the chef and returns to us saying it will actually be an additional $ 1.50. Once again, we had no issue with that and told the waiter to fire it up. For a third time, the waiter returns with another pricing. Seriously… how indecisive can they be? After all this nonsense, we finally received our sushi boat. I was pretty surprised that the fish and quality was pretty on par with NYC’s typical«$ 2.50 per roll all-day» sushi joints. When we received our check, we noticed that they charged us an amount that was different from what we verbally agreed upon for the substitution. Maybe there was some form of miscommunication between our waiter and the chef but this irritated me. I have no issue of paying the extra fee but it’s the principle of honoring what you told the customer. All in all, I would still recommend this place due to the lack of choices in the area.

My husband and I visited Fredricksburg for our honeymoon and loved it. On our last night there we ate at Panda Chinese Restaurant and it was great. Honestly, I was a little surprised. Our waitress was SO sweet and funny and was very quick to bring us food/our check/drinks, etc. I got the egg drop soup and it was really, really fantastic. I also got the sesame chicken and it was great! I would definitely recommend this place. Prices are also very affordable.

Found this restaurant with Unilocal.Great food, great service, great prices! It’s my second time being here, and my most favorite dish so far is the squid & seaweed salad. We plan on stopping by again in the future.

We had take out. We got the orange chicken and the beef with broccoli. Both were piping hot when we got home. The orange chicken was good the other was standard. The service was really quick and easy.

The restaurant was plain, but the food quality was very good. The waitresses were sloppily dressed in tshirts and jeans and it took away from the experience as I kept wondering about quality when they cared so little for appearance of their team. I had almond chicken which was flavorful with quality chicken and vegetables. The hot and sour soup was average, just didn’t seem to have the right mix of sour for my taste. They didn’t have spring rolls and actually wrote over them on the menu in fading red marker, «coming soon». What kind of Chinese restaurant doesn’t have spring rolls?!

I ordered the cashew chicken off of the lunch menu, and my friend ordered the orange chicken. The portions were large for a lunch menu and we both left completely satisfied. My friend says the orange chicken was some of the best he has had and my meal was good but not overwhelming. The lunch menu pricing was about $ 9/plate which was more than reasonable for the portion size. I did not try the sushi and I’m not sure I would. We were seated right away even though the parking kit was full and the service was quick. Overall good experience.

Panda Chinese was just a short walk from our Hotel. We really enjoyed our dinner. The Pu Pu platter was good. The ribs were super tender and meaty. The Crab Rangoon were super creamy but needed more spice to make them super delicious. The won-ton soup was probably the best I’ve had since we came to Texas, We shared a Moo Shu Pork and it was great, the pancakes were nice and thin and the plum sauce was good too. Doesn’t anybody serve chopped peanuts with Moo Shu in Texas? Everywhere I’ve ordered it before I moved here did. All and all, I thought it was a positive experience. The service was good, the food was good. If I lived in Fredericksburg, I’m sure I’d be a regular.

Pretty decent Chinese food for a small town known for German food. This may not rival Dallas or Austin, but it gets the job done. Huge menu, but I usually get the early bird meals, a great bargain. I’m not a sushi fan, so I won’t review that. Good quick service, too.

I realize a couple months ago I was harsh. Since moving back to Fredericksburg, I have now become a once a week Panda eater. However, I have not attempted the sushi again, but have tried an assortment of menu items and really have no complaints. They lunch and early bird prices are great. You just beat the value here. And now. drumroll please… THEYDELIVER! Panda is the best Chinese food restaurant Fredericksburg has ever seen and we are lucky to have it in the midst of this german/mexican/overpriced steak town.

In a fit of anti-meat/anti-fancy food/anti-dress up/anti-humans, I demanded easy take-out so I can lounge at the hotel. We drove by this Panda restaurant, which is using the WWF Panda logo as theirs — I am sure this isn’t legal. There were semi good reviews on Unilocal. We decided to give it a try, because there is nothing more comforting than sodium, noodles, and fried rice. As expected, this is nothing special. BUT — I am thoroughly surprised that it’s the same quality as North Dallas takeout Chinese. So not great, but not bad. We accept! 1. Singapore noodles had plenty of curry sauce. 2. Fried rice had lots of meat. 3. Crab Rangoon was serviceable. 4. Egg drop soup was acceptable. 5. Sushi was mildly fishy/slimy — but that’s on my tard husband for ordering sushi in BFNowhere. 6. Wonton crisps :) thin and chip like. Fast, easy, and straightforward. Yay.

Mediocre Chinese food. The fried rice that came with my passable general tso’s chicken was dry. Sushi was okay. The steamed dumplings were okay.

I went here for the first time just yesterday. It’s been awhile since I’ve had any good Chinese food OR sushi. Their sushi is made fresh right at the sushi bar, the plating of it is just *pretty*, and it is delicious. My nephew had the sesame chicken(I tried it), and it was absolutely delicious. Just enough spice to balance out the sweetness without being hot/spicy. I had the combination lo-mein and a salmon roll for my sushi. It was exquisite. Upon entering the restaurant you can see it is well-maintained, beautiful, and CLEAN. I found the waiter to be extremely attentive, checking back every 5 – 10 minutes. He wasn’t intrusive, was very quiet, and extremely patient. Even though it took me five minutes longer to order than my nephew, my food was served promptly with their food. Each sushi roll — and each roll is so large it could be its own meal — is between $ 5.95 and $ 9.00 as long as you stick to the traditional menu. If you want an option of more choice cuts of yellow tail, etc. I noticed there is a sushi menu that offers more highly priced options. Each plate of food — and the portions are enormous — typically runs between $ 6.95 and $ 8.95. It was very well priced, especially for the amount of food and quality of food you receive. If you’re looking for good Chinese food in the Hill Country of Texas(and it’s difficult to find!), come to Fredericksburg and eat here. It is well worth the trip.
