What a great little shop! This store is only two rooms deep, but it’s the kind of place where you could easily drop a hundred dollars on novelty and homemade candies. Probably one of the best places I’ve found for the perfect selection of stocking stuffers. Great service too!

I have a t-rex sized sweet tooth(and not the size of their arms). This store satiates that sweet tooth oh-so-well! It appears that price can be an issue for some people, however it’s a specialty/novelty candy store and it’s also an indie. The price is comparable and often-times better than a lot of other candy stores I’ve been to. This store is an excellent reprieve from the onslaught of restaurants and women’s clothing stores. Mix and Match bulk candy is my absolute favorite way to shop for candy and this store hits the nail on the head. Aesthetically and atmospherically, also the staff is very friendly and helpful and you can try most of the bulk candy before you buy it. If you’re in Downtown Frederick, DONOTMISS! And if you just love candy, make a visit here from wherever you are in MD or beyond. I make it a point to go to Sweet Memories every time I visit my folks in Frederick.

25 Aug 20123;:00PM Accessibility: This is off of Market Street on one of the side streets, but if you know the address, you will have no problems getting there. In fact if you stay in the Garage Parking near the Library and come out the North end, you would run right into it. So for easy of finding I would say 5 Stars especially sinmce you can see from three directions counting the garage. Atmosphere: Took us back to our Childood years. With penny candy that we loved however at todays $.25 cent pieces. And they have a huge selection to choose from. More taffy than anything it seemed. Staff was friendly and not deserving of the overall rating of a 3 Star because it was really a management problem. So overall the atmosphere was an average 3 Stars. The Candy — The cost is $ 7.95 a LB. Really not too bad. There are some candies there that you no doubt had in your childhood and some you can really get anywhere so, the price is then not as good for a piece of your childhood. But great for downtown Frederick. There was alot more Salt water taffy there than anything else. 3 Stars. That was the good part above. I think the most disappointing thing and the real reason for a total 3 Star rating, was the quality of the actual candy that we purchased. The stuff seemed old, sticky, dry and crumbly. We tried a few pieces after we left the store, and if it is a taffy like, soft candy — it was clearly evident that they kept the candy too warm as it was very sticky and dificult to get out of the wrapper. For things like the Neco wafers — they were all broke chips. My recommendation is if you go, look closely at those type of candies. 3 Stars. Question — Would we return to Sweet Memories? We will try again. The price is higher than outside of Frederick but for downtown it is about right. I recommend that you try this at least once.

This is another place that doesn’t deserve such a bad rating. They have a decent assortment of old, new, and some rare candies. It’s a small shop, but I really like the layout and the people that work there are friendly. If you want to buy a big bag of candy for cheap, go to a super market — this is a novelty shop. :)

There is always a candy that brings you back to one point in your childhood. You can remember the tartness, the sweetness or how the candy just popped in your mouth. I remembered walking into the store and all my childhood memories came flooding back. I was TRULY a kid in a candy store. We needed wedding favors — and wanted a unique flair. They had a huge selection we could choose from and our guests absolutely loved them! The owners gave us different ideas to choose from which helped us stay within our budget. Shipping was quick and the staff is really helpful.

Please know I am a big candy lover. I love the old fashioned candy and the old Favorites are hard to come by. But I give this business my «OMG — — - — -«. This is a stay away award of mine to include the one-Star above. The place is hard to locate off the main drag in Frederick. It is small, and to say overpriced is an understatement. Let’s be honest, a piece or two of basket bulk candy is great but when you can easily spend over $ 20 for candy, there better be gold in that bag. You can get the same candy in other places for much less. In Frederick you have a few great chocolate locations on Market Street, and some novelty candy as well but this place is a «must miss»(stay on Market Street) as you will not be impressed unless you just want to spend lots of money. If not then just go to SAM’s or WalMart and get a bigger basket of candy, and save some dollars for the great Chocolates on Market Street!
