This review isn’t for Dr. Stephen McKenna, but for Dr. Bianca Stewart who performed botox out of this office (although the address is now 187 Thomas Johnson Drive, Suite #7 Frederick MD 21 702). I went in for the $ 9 a unit botox «special promotion» that was being offered. Now mind you, I live in Washington, DC and drove all the way to Frederick, MD for this service. Me choosing to drive 1 hour is not the problem of Fleur De Lis or Shape MD or Stephen J McKenna LLC, this was my decision because I thought I would find an affordable place to get botox and become a new client. I did think it was weird that the office has 3 different names, but I didn’t see a bad review, so I gave it a shot, literally.
I specifically waited a few days to write my review about this experience for a couple reasons. I called the office and let them know that I would be writing an unfavorable review and wanted to give them time to reach out and avoid this review and two, I wanted to see the results so I could give an accurate assessment.
There are many reasons why I wouldn’t recommend this establishment for botox.
1. This is a doctors office. The website —
leads one to believe that you won’t be sitting with tens of sick people waiting over an hour for your appointment. It masks itself as a medical spa but it’s just a basic doctors office.
2. Dr. Stewart gave a $ 75 consultation that was waived if services were performed. However at no time did I ever know what the cost would be for said service. After I asked several times how many units she was using to which she never gave a clear answer, at check out I found out that I was now 43 units in the hole. This is my 4^th time getting botox and I’ve NEVER used 43 units. That’s $ 387!!! If I had known she was putting so much into my face, I would have requested much less. But I wasn’t afforded that luxury. She gave round about answers to my questions about how much she was using to jack up the tab. This isn’t a restaurant, it’s a medical service. Be up front with your patients during the «consultation» so they can decide if they want to limit or add botox in areas of the face. I’ve always had 20 units in the past and let her know that twice during the appointment.
3. She continued to try and upsell other services during the procedure which took way too long to complete as the needle needed to be replaced after ever insertion. I’m not sure if this is a part of the master plan to use too small of syringes and replace the needle every time to talk about other services, or lack of experience and poor equipment, but either way, it took 2 hours with wait time and office room time to get botox. Way too long.
I’m supposed to go in for a follow up, which I’m happy to do since the crows feet under one eye now look worse than before. Maybe this review will be discussed at that time, maybe not. Either way, I wouldn’t recommend botox at this establishment.
