Nightmare scenario. We were using this hotel as a midway, sleep stop, for our trip up to PA, and so by the time we got here, we had traveled 5 hours, after working a whole day, and got in around 12:30am. Check in was easy, and then when we got to our room, it was pretty«meh». As we finally settled and went to close our eyes before having to get up at 7am to finish our trip, we noticed loud music coming from upstairs. Whoever was above us was BLASTING Metallica. Now don’t get me wrong, I like Metallica, but when your only goal is to get a few meager hours of sleep, and Master of Puppets is blasting, you start getting angry. When I asked the front desk to do something, they tried ringing 5 times, and then finally went up to ask them to turn it down. After about 30 minutes they were successful, and he turned it down, not off. We are now at 1:30am. We then started to fall alseep, and at 3:30am, all of a sudden we were surrounded by the sound of the original Rocky movie being blasted from upstairs. We could hear every«ADRIANNNN», word-for-word. At this point, the front desk lady tried knocking again on the persons door, and this time they wouldn’t answer. So instead of taking any more action, they chose to move us. Which sounded welcome. Until we got to our new room. They moved us to a smoking room, from a non-smoking room. Now, this was my first«smoking room» experience, as I am not a smoker, and let me tell you, the smell is QUITEOFFENSIVE, if you are not a smoker. ESPECIALLY at 3:45am in the morning. At this point, we gave up and knew that this was going to be the last time we were going to be able to get sleep, so we just accepted our fates and got the hell out of there as soon as possible in the morning. Basically, the hotel has no control over anything in this hotel and you’re better off spending a few extra $$$ to avoid a pretty mediocre hotel and their poor management abilities. EDIT: Also forgot to mention, if you thought you might try to cool the room and have it be somewhat hospitable, don’t expect to sleep either. Noisiest AC units I’ve ever encountered. Basically the name«Sleep Inn» was just an ironic joke for my experience here.

We stayed here just to get a sleep break after being on the road all day. After looking at Unilocal reviews for cheap hotel in the area, I wasn’t optimistic. We decided on this one, and it fit our needs exactly. It was pretty cheap and pretty clean. The lady at the desk was really nice, and the breakfast was the same as pretty much everywhere else.

The neighborhood and abandoned building in front at first put me off. However, when I went inside the hotel it was amazing. Other than the halls being a bit dark, the rooms were almost like a Mandarin Oriental hotel. Definitely nice surprise once you get in the room.

My fiancé and I chanced upon the Sleep Inn on our way home from North Carolina. The hostess was very kind and helpful in suggesting places we might like for dinner. The hotel was clean, bright, close to the mall, only ten minutes away from historic downtown Frederick and the Battle of Monocacy, and was close to restaurants of all food genres. Although I haven’t tried the breakfast yet, the fact they have a hot breakfast increases their rating in my book.

We got an internet price break and expected no frills but at least a working toilet. On our last night at Sleep In, we came back at 11:30 to find to a broken toilet handle and partially cleaned room. Based on the condition of the room we can only guess that hotel staff had started to clean the bathroom but accidently broke the handle and left in the middle of cleaning. No doubt, things get broken from normal wear and tear in a hotel. Not a big deal but we were surprised that the staff didn’t take care of it before we returned. I called the front desk right away. The woman apologized and offered to move us to another room. My husband was already asleep by then and we had to get to the airport very early the next morning. It seemed unreasonable to expect us to get all our things together and move to another room in the middle of the night. So I declined. It is just as well she didn’t offer to send someone to fix it because I didn’t want to stay up waiting for the repairman. Besides, the toilet was in working order that morning when we left. We saw housekeeping on the floor as we were leaving, why didn’t they promptly take care of it? Since staff caused the problem and didn’t fix it, I thought it was only fair to request a break on the room rate. The night clerk told me the morning manager makes that decision. The next morning the manager told me we couldn’t get a break because they«offered to fix it». It was our tough luck about the inconvenience but, she said, we could call back in two days and speak to the regional manager. We traveled as a family and stayed in adjoining rooms. At least my daughter and her boyfriend got a decent room with functioning furniture. Until the broken toilet incident we just dealt with the minor inconveniences of our room –a desk chair spattered with stains that was stuck reclining backwards almost down to the floor, peeling veneer on the bottom drawer of the desk that snagged a sock, the thick layer of dust up on the top shelf of the closet that my husband found out had dirtied his clothes, the dank, musty odor that got worse whenever we turned on the air conditioner. So that last night when we returned to to find the hotel staff had left us with a broken toilet, we had had enough! Sleep In–«relaxable and enjoyable»? I think not.

I gave it a 4 because my expectations were low the first time I was here, and was pleasantly surprised. This will be my second visit to this hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. Great location, across from a mall, restaurants, Target. Basic no frills hotel, clean, decent breakfast, and 24⁄7 coffee!
