The delivery nightmares are true. Ordered a microwave, stove and dryer. The day of the delivery the microwave order was mysteriously cancelled. When we called to inquire why, we found out that the stove was coming with a 4-pronged cord instead of the 3-pronged cord we specified. The real kicker was we called a day prior to this just to verify the 3-pronged cord was ordered and we were told it wasn’t but they would make the adjustment. We contacted the 1 – 800 number and all they would say is «we’re sorry. It’s coming with a 4-pronged cord.» We had to cancel the order and start again. I understand life happens sometimes and you can even be let down by people you are paying, but the refusal to accommodate us was the final straw.

my wife and I visited ready to purchase $ 2500 of patio furniture that was on sale in the Sears ad. We spoke with an older gentleman in patio furniture department who would not honor the paper sears coupon we had. Speaking with the store manager next we were disappointed to learn they were both old, grumpy and not willing to honor coupon. they suggested we go to the store in West Virginia. We will never go back. Terrible customer service.

I just want to give a big shout out to Sears at FSK Mall — specifically one of the sales people — Sandra Watkins. If anyone is in the market for appliances — do yourself a favor and go see her! My wife and I went in there to buy a new refrigerator because ours was a piece of crap. Sandy is VERY knowledgeable about her department;she asked us questions to find out what we were looking for and then showed us some models. When we found one we liked, she showed us all the features and how everything worked. She also told us of the different promotions that Sears was running and helped us decide to take the one that offered 500 Sears points. She told us we could wait a couple of days until they showed up on my wife’s Sears account and then come back and get a range that we really liked and use those points to cover almost more than half of the purchase price. Which is exactly what we did. She is I believe, the epitome of what a good sales associate should be. She made suggestions, but we never felt pressured or pushed into anything. She was savvy enough to walk away a bit and let us talk together alone about whether we should buy or not. She was warm and friendly, and put us at ease right away, which I think was a good thing to do, because even with the sales and the promotions, we were laying out a good chunk of money for the appliances. But the decision is well worth it. And the refrigerator was delivered only a little bit later than they said they would be here but the installation and hookup to the water was done quickly and efficiently. A lot of times people poo-poo Sears and say they aren’t up with the times and they are going to go under. But if they have more people like Sandra Watkins — they will be around a loooong time. She made the experience enjoyable and pressure-free! I get so tired of sales people who you can tell don’t really want to be there and many of them don’t really know their product. But Sandra Watkins really does know her job — she has been there 30 something years and you can tell she still really enjoys it! Margaret
