Great place for top notch Italian food. Wish we lived closer, will definitely return when we are passing through. Loved the live music.

Went here for lunch on a cold day in Frederick. This was among the few places that wasnt packed. Good service with average food. I had the chicken sandwich and my LO had the chicken fingers. No complains. Ok food for the price. They have a more extensive menu for dinner and also more expensive but I ordered off the lunch special. May be next time…

Myself and two friends tried this place for the first time today. And I must say, I loved it. The cocktail was delightful and refreshing but not too sweet. I ordered the caprese salad. Mozzarella, basil, tomato and balsamic, absolutely delicious! It could’ve used some salt to enhance it a little more but I’d definitely order it again. And again. Both of my friends really enjoyed their food as well. The service was awesome and our server was attentive and was soooo nice. Also as an added bonus, we got to be the Guinea pigs and try a drink the bartender had concocted. The drink was called an Orange Dreamsicle. It looked like a work of art and tasted even better! I will most definitely be back! And soon!

As someone who is no stranger to the adult beverage purveyors on Market Street, you cannot beat the mini pizza special on Weds night and service from Christine the bartender.

First time to Olives. We are new to Frederick and were looking for a nice Italian place to take the mom while visiting. After our years in NYC we appreciate a solid Italian restaurant. We were skeptical because of the very mixed reviews but decided to take a risk. Happy we did! The waiter was gracious enough to let me sample the Prosecco and Reisling since I was undecided. We order the meat and cheese appetizer, it was okay, could use improvements… However, the entrees were solid! I ordered spaghetti pomodoro and the waiter allowed me to change the pasta to penne, which was very good. Wife order their veal piccata, the veal was perfectly cooked. The waiter was great again to let her substitute the side of mashed potatoes and veg for linguine(never had piccata with those sides, not a fan). Mom had the linguine and crab, this dish was the star! Simple and full of flavor! The best part of the meal was when the chef came out and personally asked how the dishes were. He told us that they just recently changed their menus! I think this is a great sign for our downtown food! For a restaurant to know that they need to shake it up, and do so very well! Will definitely be going back to Olives for more great dishes of pasta!

Ordered chicken pitcata. Noodles tasted like oily butter. Chicken was ok. Service was awesome though, probably because no one was in there.

We came back because we heard there were even more GF options. Not only do they have GF pasta, but they have GF flour do that they can use it in sauces like chicken Marsala! Who does that? Olive’s does!!! They were also able to offer many dairy free options. Lots of choices, knowledgeable staff, this is the best GF place we have found yet! We got the shrimp in herb sauce again which is delicious, as was my wife’s salmon with artichoke hearts. I can do gluten and dairy so I had tetrazzini di mare, which was absolutely fabulous and can be made GF as well. I really love a good sauce and this was top notch. Some places are too heavy handed with the sherry but this was perfect. All the seafood was tender and delicious. Service was excellent as well.

I love this place. The food and the staff are amazing and I always enjoy spending time there. Their happy hour food and drink menu is fantastic and I would recommend it to anyone. Friday and Saturday nights do turn into a dance club after 10pm so if you like to boogy, that’s the spot :)

Loved the antipasta app. Good Italian food. Nice dinning room and not overcrowded.

I’ve been meaning to try this place out for a while but was always deterred by the low reviews, but finally made it here. The atmosphere isn’t anything special… the tables are scattered around with some murals on the wall but it did not feel inviting; it’s not a place where I’d like to sit and continue having a post dinner drink or coffee. The menu is pretty big with lots I appetizers, pizzas, pastas and entrees. All pastas and entrees comes with either a soup or salad which is always great. We got that pasta olivo and pasta pomodoro. They start you off with a focaccia style bread with«olive oil» which was disgusting– it looked and tasted like a mixture of melted butter and olive oil which was not a good combination, they should have just used regular olive oil with some herbs. The cream of crab soup was really good and had decent pieces of crab and the white bean kale soup was good too hit need a bit more spice in the broth. The spaghetti olivo was actually good– it had a nice white sauce and lots of mushrooms but it was a bit heavy. The pomodoro was nothing special and tasted like canned tomatoes were used for the sauce. Finally, not sure what was going on with the music situation but it kept going on and off and they kept turning it up and then down.

Went here on a Sunday we were walking downtown and saw the sign«Happy Hour all Day». That’s my kind of sign lol. Anyways it wasn’t packed and it looked very clean. The bar area wasn’t that big but the bartender was nice and made great drinks. Beer was $ 3 and I believe mixed drinks on tap were $ 3.50. Either way the prices were great and the drinks weren’t watered down. Stop by and tip the bartender she’s blonde cute and knows how to make a great long island.

An associate and I ate here while in town for business. We wanted to go to another place we’d heard about, but they were closed for vacation. It was incredibly hot and we didn’t feel like walking much further which brought us to Olives. The restaurant was very quiet when we went with only a few patrons at the bar. Our waiter was not enthused whatsoever to be there, and seemed to mumble everything he said. We sat by the window and immediately noticed flies constantly around us. We ordered immediately with our drinks to speed the process up and things were definitely served quickly. Entrees followed the house salads very quickly. I had a baked gnocchi and sausage dish which was really greasy, and the gnocchi was tasteless. My associate’s meal was a fettuccine dish that was too ‘loose’ for what it should be. There are probably better Italian places in the area, and certainly ones with better service.

I had the seafood entrée with shrimp, scallops, clams, and calamari. Noodles and sauce were good, but after a while the seafood started to taste like chemicals. Though I must admit, service was awesome(everything came fast the way it should). It was happy hour, so I understand why it was so deafeningly loud in there– but common, friends, buy some curtains or something that sound won’t bounce off of. My friend ordered the veal with eggplant and said its the best veal she ever had. I didn’t try it but I figured that should count for something.

I had the shrimp ravioli for dinner. It was average. The best thing was the wine list. I will come back to the bar for happy hour.

Really had high hops for this place after tasting some great bruschetta outside. Service was good and my sangria was decent, but the tetrazzini was WAYYYYY to salty. Like, couldnt eat salty. Like, I always need to salt my food and I couldnt finish it. My bf got Lasagna and it was 90%cheese. The bread was NOT fresh even after seeing a review for great fresh baked bread. Really wanted to rate this place higher, but couldnt.

Best Martini in town! This place really delivers on the drinks. Happy hour is solid. This is coming from someone whose boyfriend was a bartender at a martini bar in another town. Just be clear on your choice of vermouth or no vermouth. Only 1 – 2 beers on tap, usually Stella. Haven’t tried the food yet. The place turns into a nightclub on weekend nights.

I wanted to try something new. I didn’t want to settle for the usual national commercial restaurants found around Germantown. I searched for a place in downtown Frederick and when I found a spot, it was crowded. My lady and I decided to go to Olives instead which was nearby. We were greeted immediately and shown to our tables. We ordered several appetizers and a drink. The food was delicious. Drink was great as well. Bartender had a nice touch and got the job done. The waitress was nice and understood that my lady and I were having an in depth conversation. The atmosphere was real cozy too. I appreciate how restaurant owners get to display their style and layout. I would return for a nice cozy dinner.

Walking around Frederick, we decided to stop someplace new. My bf was in the mood for pasta, so we stopped here. We sat at the bar, and the bartender was friendly and helpful. Told us about the beer selection(Stella on draft, several craft bottles), and happy hour specials($ 5 martinis for the ladies!). He ordered a beer and I got the Manhattan. The special martinis are only made with lower shelf, so even though the menu said Bulleit, I got Jack. It wasn’t bad, but got cloyingly sweet after it had set. I ordered wine after that. Chris, our bartender, had me taste a few before I ordered a glass. We ordered the lamb meatballs to start. Great flavor, tender, and moist. A+ for dinner, I ordered the pappardelle bolognese, and he got the frutti de mare. The portions were great, and the pasta was cooked perfectly. My bolognese was full of meat, rich and delicious. His seafood was cooked properly, and the fennel cream sauce the perfect compliment. The atmosphere was nice, the people were friendly(even the others at the bar), and the food was great. We will definitely be back here again!

Went recently and thoroughly enjoyed the meal; everything we ordered was delicious and our waitress was top-notch. I recommend the following menu items: –Linguine Granchio(highly recommend, a must, but only if you enjoy fairly heavy sauces. I am going back specifically for this dish) –Gnocchi Pugliese(fairly good, but nothing special. I’d stick to the Linguine seafood dish mentioned above) –Crabmeat Crostini(delicious) Cream of Crab and Minestrone soups(sampled both and I recommend both). Restaurant is easy to find, as it is located on the main drag in downtown Frederick. Street parking is sometimes a pain, especially on weekends, so just park in one of the many parking garages located of the main street. They are cheap and only a short walk from the restaurant.
