Do what I did 20 minutes ago. Go to the pop shop. Order a large lemon chiffon shake. Bask in the gloriousness of said shake. You can thank me later. There is nothing quite like this place. I wish I could live there. :)

I’m a soda and pretzels guy from pa, and this place does the trick for me. A million birch/root beers, great ice cream and my favorite, the hot dogs with toppings. If they only sold good pretzels like I’ve suggested, I’d live there(I’m only a block away anyway lol.)

This place is my go-to pit stop when I’m taking a walk down Market St. I love the Cheerwine! And if you’re looking to cool off on a hot day, try their Grape-nut ice cream – it’s to DIEFOR.

Amazing local ice cream shop. The employees are incredibly friendly & the ice cream is phenomenal. I’m not even a big fan of ice cream but this place converted me into a fan.

An awesome part of downtown Frederick. I usually get a butterscotch rootbeer float :) Great place for a more indulgent beverage. They’ve got a lot of cool sodas, if that’s your thing you should definitely stop by.

Sea salt caramel ice cream was very creamy. After coming here it will be difficult to eat supermarket ice cream again. We were full from lunch but still found room to finish off a double scoop.

I could not believe a place like this existed. I was looking for something fun to do with my husband and kids one afternoon and read that the Pop Shop was going to have a soda tasting. That sounded like a perfect family activity. As soon as we walked in the door, our jaws hit the floor. I’ve never seen so many different kinds of bottled soda in my life. They have the local Connecticut birch beer that’s served at my husband’s favorite pizza place in New Haven. They have the upstate NY cola that we had on vacation 10 years ago and fell in love with. They have soda from everywhere, even Australia. And please don’t get me started on the ice cream. Just go try it yourself. This place is an absolute gem.

What you have here is Soda as Art! I have to be honest, I only ended up in North Market Pop because my daughter had to use the restroom… all I can say is how serendipitous! I didn’t know how much of a fan I was of Soda. I mean, I have been a true Diet Coke/Pepsi drinker my entire life… but that’s not soda… that’s just a drink. As I said, this is Soda as Art… Soda as craft beer, Soda as boutique wine… Soda like I’ve never experienced it before. Go try«Hippo Size Peach», or «Sprecher Grape Ape, or «Coopers Cave Chocolate,» or the various other flavors… They are arranged by flavor and it’s truly hard to choose. At $ 2.00 a bottle on average it’s a great way to try things you would never get elsewhere. I’m heading down in a minute to drink my Peanut Butter and Jelly Soda… It could be gross, but I’m just excited to have the opportunity to try it! This is a cool store. **UPDATE**…The Peanut Butter and Jelly Soda was gross… Don’t let that deter you.

Excellent all the way around. Excellent service, warm friendly atmosphere, and they have some of the best ice cream that I’ve ever had! Awesome selection of old time pops and some I’ve never heard of too.

Top of the pops! If you want to skip the carbonated oligopoly, this is the place. What craft brewing is to megaliths. And if you have been to New England and developed a craving for Moxie [which is to root beer what Jamaican ginger beer is to supermarket ginger ale], they have it. I got the hot dog special, $ 5 for a very nice Vienna style dog, a bag of craft chips, and a can of soda. The Unilocal check in got me a deal on the ice cream, sourced from a small maker in nearby PA. Oh my brothers and sisters, I have worked in a Baskin-Robbins and had Ben & Jerry’s at the Vermont factory, and I have never had better ice cream. Super friendly service and a handy recycling bin for cans and bottles. Five hand dipped stars with hot fudge and sprinkles.

Do you love soda shops? You should, and if you do, you should love this one!(Do you not love soda shops? Stop in and reassess your opinion!) They have a great variety of bottles, organized helpfully by flavor, with plenty of options in the fridge to slake your immediate thirst. I particularly love Ginger beers, and picked up a couple here that were new to me. They also have tons of root beers, including a few birch beers and sarsaparillas, and all manner of fruits and novelties. The staff are friendly, helpful, and happy to discuss soda with you! Whether you’re new to craft/artisan/weird sodas, or a seasoned veteran, the Pop Shop is worth a stop if you’re in Frederick.

Stumbled into this cute shop while strolling through downtown Frederick. Whimsical and fun! Amazing selection of vintage type pop bottles, the more you buy the cheaper they are. Great homemade ice cream, traditional fountain drinks etc.

I absolutely love this place! I live right near it, so I can always walk off my float :-) There are dozens of sodas to choose from and the ice cream is amazing! Current favorite: Dry Vanilla Bean Soda w/chocolate ice cream. Yum!

I had read about the North Market Pop Shop on the WTOP website. And as soon as I did, I knew I had to go! So we trekked up to Frederick from Silver Spring just for this shop. There are a ton of options for sodas from the regional to the unheard of. We got two six packs of a variety of sodas to try out with our friends(a bit of a tasting party as it were). I also got a vanilla float with Shirley Temple Soda. It was delicious and I’d recommend it to anyone. The shop is a little small, but the flow works pretty well. There were definitely a lot of staff behind the counter and they did appear to get in each others way, but it didn’t hurt the customer service at all.

This ice cream is incredible! I got the mint chip and is lovely. The ice cream is really creamy and the flavors are strong. Lots of kinds of sofa, and we chatted with the owner for awhile. She is so much fun and knows a ton about what she’s doing and the community overall.

What’s not to love? –The whimsical sign outside that evokes a playful retro vibe? –The amazing selection of sodas including at least 6 types of birch beer #ILoveBirchbeer? –The super friendly cashier who will pull a sample of ice cream in a heart beat, talk about what they plan to use the bottle caps their collecting for, or make fun of their super old vintage milkshake maker that has the capability of putting chocolate on the ceiling tiles? — The tiny little candy bar that would give you the perfect pairing for a cold soda on a warm summer’s day? — The perfected chalk illustrations of their menu and specials? — The 2 dollars for a scoop check-in offer? — The little six packs that you can create with a selection of any sodas, adorned with the adorable North Market Pop Shop Local? Again What’s not to love?

This place gets five stars from me. They weren’t open this morning, but saw us peering in the window and opened early so we could shop! Got two custom six packs of root beer, sasparilla, and cream soda. I got to choose all the kinds myself, and the lady that helped me was very knowledgeable and kind. Great experience, will definitely be back!

As much as I like a couple of the other shops nearby, the Trickling Springs ice cream served here just might be the best in town! I can’t get enough! It’s very rich and creamy– definitely diet busting but worth it! The flavors seem to change every few days. I recommend getting peanut butter if you’re lucky enough to catch it. Pistachio is very tasty too and it doesn’t have any green color added. 2 scoops are only $ 3.50. My last treat was a cookies n cream milkshake. They don’t use syrups but you get a choice of white or chocolate organic milk. The staff is really friendly and they’re always happy to give you samples and chat you up. Great shop!
