They are out of business. We were told the owner went to prison for disability fraud and possibly tax evasion. I’ve been here for breakfast and lunch about a half dozen times. The food is good and is made to order. The service is good. My buddy liked his breakfast so much he ordered a second.

This is like a little roadhouse diner, very authentic a very greasy spoon spot. Home cooked style menu. 5 egg omelets. Terrible coffee. There’s a room in the back for big groups. Dirty carpet and restroom, but a cool little spot to get a ton of food on the way out of Frederick.

Went on a Friday evening with friends who are regulars; after a long day of volunteering. They had two specials. Salmon — nope not for me. And Broasted Chicken with two sides for $ 8.99. I got a tossed salad as my two sides, and Sweet Tea.(Hey I am from the south) Not too long of a wait for half of a fried chicken. Lovely brown, and crispy on the outside, and moist and tender inside. O my it was good. The pieces were large so I had to get a to go box. Next day it was just as good. Ask for the honey mustard dressing to use as a dipping sauce. They make it in house. It is DELISH. One friend got a club sandwich. It was huge. Real turkey slices, and bacon. Looked really good. He ate it all; so it must have been tasty. The gals split a slice of cherry pie. Very good, flaky crust, the. Served with whipped cream and three spoons. The guys got a slice of German Chocolate Cake, well one guy did. Apparently men don’t share dessert. LOL. The service was good, the place was clean. The owner served us, and answered all our annoying questions. I will go back. I am pretty sure I saw a piece of Red Velvet Cake with my name on it.

I can only comment on breakfast and it was not good. I had eggs over easy with bacon and my kids had scrambled eggs with sausage. Bacon was not crisp at all and very rubber like. The sausage was mushy and my kids didn’t eat it after one bite. It lacked any flavor and the texture was horrible. Portions are very small. Hash browns were good but I received only seven small pieces. I should have taken a photo. Very nice wait staff. No long wait for the food to come out but what a disappointment. Will not return. Poor quality food. They should get better pork supplier and stop serving such small portions. Sad to see such an established place serve such poor quality food.

This place is excellent! I got a bacon cheeseburger with fries and it was fantastic. Many of my friends got the breakfast items and were extremely happy with their meals. The staff was very friendly and everything was reasonably priced. If you’re looking for a meal that feels homemade then this is your stop.

Good place for breakfast. I had chipped beef with gravy on toast. not too salty and I enjoyed it. Wish the toast had been toasted more, but that was a small point. My husband had the village omelet filled with chunky ham, fresh mushrooms and Swiss cheese. The home fries were yummy — thin slices of real potatoes nicely fried. He had cinnamon toast which we haven’t seen at a restaurant in a long time. Our waitress, Trish, was great. Friendly and efficient.

Really liked this place, and plan to return every time I’m in the area. Very unassuming, neighborhood type of diner. Welcoming, friendly staff. Decently clean. Amply sized booths. Never had to ask for a refill on my coffee. Good sausage gravy, though not served as hot in temperature as it should’ve been. Decent scrapple, though not fried hard as ordered. But that Hungry Man Omelet? Good Lord! Phenomenal!!! I was full from my meal, but couldn’t help devouring the remains of my sister’s plate!!! It just felt like home, right down to the waitress wiping off the ‘biscuits’ from the«sausage gravy & biscuits’ when I ordered and the kitchen said they were out of biscuits… down to a regular coming in, both waitresses welcoming him back, and immediately asking if he wanted his usual. My kinda joint!

The review rating is for breakfast. I’ve only been here for breakfast, but each time I come it is great. The food is a little expensive for a small diner, but it is good and the portions sizes run bigger than most. They have great blueberry pancakes. The service is good too.

Stopped by around 2:30pm on a Saturday at the end of January 2013, looking for a diner-like experience, not the sometimes overdone trendiness of downtown Frederick. It looks a little time-worn on the outside, but don’t let that keep you away. We loved the food and the staff and the owners and the restaurant! The waitress was funny and made us feel welcome. We ended up ordering her favorite, the Philly Cheesesteak Omelet, and we changed which cheese was on the omelet without any fuss. The ingredients were fresh, not canned or frozen, and the potatoes were fresh and tasty too! It was not too salty, and maybe not quite salty enough, but that’s easier to adjust than too much, and I added some Texas Pete, too, just for fun. Coffee was fresh, I guess because they stay busy all day so they are always making more. The red velvet cake was fantastic! They told us it’s an 85-year-old recipe made by a little old lady, and it tasted like the real thing, not all food coloring, with not-too-sweet lucious white icing. The chef-owner talked to us while ringing up orders. His wife sat and talked with us at the counter while she had a fresh-looking salad, and she shared gave us a local-made seasonal specialty, kinklings! A rich biegnet-like donut covered with powdered sugar for Shrove Tuesday. I had never heard of it, but we’re from the Baltimore area, and it’s a tradition out this way and up into Pennsylvania where it has another name. And all the time the other waitress who just started her shift kept interrupting the owners to make sure we were being served. We could not have been neglected if we tried ;-) This was our first time there. We’ll stop by whenever we are in Frederick. You know, come here with expectations that it’s a diner, and enjoy the really friendly staff and owners. They’ve adapted to using super-fresh ingredients and freshening some of the old stand-by recipes, so it’s better food than some of the old diners you can still find in small towns around Maryland. I only skipped one star because I have the feeling the chef still has some cool recipe ideas that he could add to the menu.

food sucked and was over priced and it took almost 40 min just to get a simple crab cake and some chicken also i should mention that the crabcake was 30% filling and they were small. will never eat there again

Good quality food without having to be a Rockefeller. Last trip consisted of a crab cake. The trip before, turkey with dressing. Always consistent. It’s not a high end type of joint, just a simple family restaurant. I have to second John D’s ratings: Service = C, Food = A, Value = B, that the service is hit or miss. Otherwise, I’d rate Lohr’s up the chain a little more.

I went here based on reviews I had read and I was incredibly disappointed. It wasn’t busy when our party of 3 went in. We got our drinks quickly, but, then had to wait an incredibly long time for anyone to come take our order. It took so long that if we had ordered water, then we would have left and ate somewhere else, but, we had ordered drinks we had to pay for. Finally when someone came and took our order, she didn’t seem very interested in doing so. The place isn’t big and it wasn’t busy so not sure what was going on with it taking so long or her not seeming to pay attention when we ordered. Got the order placed and when the food came out, they had gotten my order wrong. After being here so long already considering how long it took to order, I wasn’t about to send it back and wait more. Of course when the bill came out they didn’t charge me for the sandwich I had ordered, they charged me the higher price of the dinner they brought. Oh well, that just killed any small tip the waitress might’ve gotten at this point. Def one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in a while and will not be giving them a second chance.

I love the story of this place, the now owner lived in a halfway house and started working here as a cook for $ 7.50 an hour. When he eventually took over the business it became the«new» Lohr’s. It goes to show how much one can achieve if they are determined. Ok enough about that, this review should be on the food! It’s your average diner food. Their phone ringing is very loud and kind of obnoxious. How’s that for a climax to this review?

Best blueberry pancakes I’ve ever had, period. The place is a no-frills family style restaurant with an excellent breakfast. Coffee was weak but that’s my only complaint.

A pleasant surprise in Frederick, Maryland. We took my parents here for a rare outing as they don’t get around too well anymore. Mom heard about it from her brother and also noted that cousin Betty works there and makes the red velvet cakes that seem to be a popular dessert. It’s located along a busy street and I’m sure parking can be difficult during the workweek, but this Saturday afternoon traffic was light and we had no problem. Also easy access for folks who use walkers and canes to get around. The décor was pleasant with memorabilia on the wall related to the Hagerstown area. We discovered that the owner is from Hagerstown – small world since I teach in Washington County. Food was excellent. Mom and dad both got pork and they raved about it the rest of the evening. My husband got the salmon cake special, which he said was good and I got the steamed shrimp special. WOW. The shrimp were fantastic. Large, probably 12 count to the pound. And I got an entire pound. The veggies were a little bland, but those shrimp made up for it. Service was good too. They all got red velvet cake and said it was wonderful. It looked great!

The $ 4 uncooked crab cakes to go are worth it, but add some spice when you get home because they are a bit plain. For the price they are hard to beat. Having heard tales of broasted chicken, we tried the eat in experience a few nights ago. Then we were distracted by the 2 crab cake platter on special for $ 10.95 and decided to go with that since we had the«to go» version previously. Normally, in a down home type dinner such as this I wouldn’t try it. Service was mediocre, I wondered if we would ever get menus. The cakes were good but plain and needed to be cooked more. French fries were typical dinner style, veggies were overcooked. Looks promising for breakfast or maybe a hot turkey sandwich, but more exotic fare is probably not what I should try here. I’ll go back to try the broasted chicken and hopefully update this when I do. I want to give them a 2.5, but it will have to be a 2 since half stars aren’t allowed and they definitely didn’t earn a 3

Lohr’s totes on it’s sign the«new» Lohr’s. I may or may not have been when it was old… It’s my breakfast spot when I want a good, home-cooked real meal. I even wait for the corner booth in front by the window because I am «like» that. The kids love it… chocolate chip pancakes, crayons and a kid placemat to doodle on, thick milkshakes… need I saw more. Waitresses quick on their feet. A menu that if you can’t find something you want, then you have ISSUES. I can get Biscuits and Sausage Gravy like I am used to(and never seem to find around here that I like, except for Lohr’s). They cater too. Sign boosts«$ 4 uncooked crab cakes» — I haven’t seen the size of them, but that price is good if they are decent! I have had their omelets… all good. And my favorite: Belgium Waffles covered in berries and whip cream! Now THAT’S breakfast. You’ll find ALWAYS a Harley or two in the parking lot. A family or two in the restaurant, a regular or two seated at the counter and a few friendly senior faces brightening up the room. It’s RIGHT across from the McDonald’s on Patrick/Route 144, East of the city of Frederick past the fair grounds. Next I plan to check out the deli across the street… everyone raves about it. It’s in a BEER store! ha.
