They Patio is a nice draw, but slow inattentive service ruins the experience. The waiters and waitresses seem to be upset or stressed and bartenders didn’t seem to care. The food is just okay, kinda bland. Quesidillas are good, queso is okay. Not worth it with all the other choices downtown. La Paz owners/managers please get your act together and bring back the good vibes.

Let me start with chips and salsa, stale chips. Maybe its Monday leftovers. Out of Dos Equis espacial. Ordered chicken fajitas, the skillet arrived with raw looking veggies ontop of previously cooked chicken and it was just barely warm. I’m sorry but that is not acceptable. Sent it back. Let’s see what they do… more to come.

Worst meal I ever paid for. Twice. This place is pathetic. Inedible, no service(indifferent teens), filthy, smelly, etc. I can’t believe people eat here with so many great places downtown. An insult to Mexican food. Go to Café Bueno and be educated.

Food was bland. The queso dip was disgusting we had to return it. Wings were ok but were breaded too much and they were very small for the price you pay. Ordered the veggie burger but they had ran out. So we ordered the Fish taco. It was good but needed some extra flavor like a sauce. The best was the key lime pie. Weren’t happy with the taste of the food. Margaritas were delicous but small serving for the price. The service was great. Ask for Kelly. She did her best to make us happy. We won’t be back though.

Yet another mediocre visit to La Paz. It’s always as if they have canned ingredients, and just throw them together on the plates. Their chicken never fails to be the driest meat I’ve had in a restaurant by far. They seem to have nothing distinct about them; no special flavours they call their own. I’m curious as to how they’ve been around for so long. The best thing about each visit is the super fresh and cold salsa. I DO like their ample patio seating. I’ll be back next year hopefully with a better review:(

Got chicken fajitas, they were pretty good. They have a nice patio but service is a little slow.

Go to La Paz, get a table on the patio, order a cold beer, enjoy some chips. DONOTORDERANYTHINGELSE. Nice location, good chips, awful food and service. We hadn’t been in years and for good reason. The beer is cold, at least.

A co worker and I went to La Paz for Happy Hour on a Wednesday afternoon. We sat outside on the patio. Within a few moments our server Lauren had come over to take our orders. We ordered draft beer that came in a chilled glass. Lauren also gave us a large basket of chips and salsa. She mentioned that the salsa was not overly spicy, and that we might want to try some of the Queso dip. Lauren was so friendly and helpful. It really added to the lovely atmosphere of the restaurant. I also ordered a vegetable burrito that was made with lots of fresh vegetables on a whole wheat tortilla. It was one of the better vegetable burritos I have eaten! Try this place for a relaxed enjoyable experience with the added benefit of attentive, professional service

La Paz has a lovely atmosphere — great vibe — enjoy the outdoor patio by the waterfall and colorful umbrellas-chicken and spinach enchilada is fantastic and tilapia — yummm-the salsa is great too!

It bothers me how bad the reviews are because this is without a doubt one of the best restaurants downtown. You can’t go in expecting a 100% authentic Mexican meal — you won’t get one — but you can expect a great meal nonetheless. Free, fresh chips & salsa, fantastic margaritas, and their stuffed avocado w/chicken salad is to die for. Sam is a fantastic server! She has such a great spirit about her and we love having her wait on is. Overall a wonderful place with an awesome atmosphere to boot.

Very gross. Walked in and wasn’t expecting much but never expected to have been turned off by the chips and salsa. I don’t know if they’re trying to be a trailer trash Mexican hot spot or what but it’s definitely not like anything I’ve seen called a Mexican restaurant. Salsa looked similar to a gutted fish and tasted like absolutely nothing as did the saltless chips. I regretfully ordered the queso and am at a loss for how to describe it. Baby throw up I saw on another review and I’d say that’s accurate. Curdled cheese in water with more of the disgusting salsa. An unfinishable Margarita really put the icing on the cake. That’s all we could stomach and so we left. I literally spent the walk to cacique spitting trying to get the taste it off my mouth. Don’t go here please it’s really really bad. If you’re already in the restaurant leave, save yourself. Please.

Lapaz, what can I say it’s been around forever and so has their old ass dishes. Nothing new really glopped up canned food on a plate. The fish on occasion can have some redeeming quality. Not sure why everyone still eats here and niether do they. It’s not exactly authentic but there margaritas are good and the beer is cold. Lapaz has a cult like following and when you go there and see them you will understand. It’s a nice place with outside seating and the food is basic, not super flavorful. All in all its fun to go to but really it’s more fun to leave.

Location and atmosphere was great except NO music. Awkward uncomfortable feeling as if they were about to close. And this was at 8:30 on Saturday night. The waitress was even vacuuming with a electronic sweeper. Huh !?! Food: Salsa was fresh and chopped but only tomatoes. Chips too thick. House margarita was tasteless. Lack of flavor and lack of choices. Not a serious Mexican restaurant. And we’ve given this place a chance a few times over 20 years. Ladies bathroom was out of order. So disappointing. Lots of potential but …

My burrito was very bland. Maybe they thought vegan meant no spices? I wish I would have Unilocaled it before I sat down. Hopefully, I’ve learned my lesson. Great location. That is all.

So far theyre awesome. I didnt care for how they made fheir enchiladas though. Tasted great but i didnt like how they didn’t cover the entire enchillada with sauce so it was soft all over. I wound up struggling to eat my leathery and dry enchillada. Luckily only the top of the enchilada was like this and the rest was soft. I think they meant to do this though.

I have been going to LaPaz for as long as I can remember. Some of my earliest memories are going downtown to a little building tucked away behind a parking garage and eating all the queso and salsa I could get my hands on. As I got older I learned to appreciate more than just their queso, falling in love with their Chicken La Paz dish. And when they moved to their Carol Creek location I was excited to have a less creepy hidden place to enjoy my favorite foods. Unfortunately when they moved they changed a lot. Chicken LaPaz is no longer on the menu, and the portions all seem to have gotten smaller. I still go from time to time, but mostly just to get my favorite queso and salsa(which you have to mix together to get the optimal deliciousness).

This fantastic place is a restaurant icon in Frederick. Since its relo to Carroll Creek several years ago, the Outdoor seating with fountain is always packed in warm weather. The food I wouldn’t characterize as authentic Mexican but everything done is super tasty and consistently good. Superb wait staff sets it apart from other choices, along with some killer margaritas and a very popular upstairs bar for happy hour. The homemade salsa is the draw for me– fresh and light with just enough kick. A a favorite appetizer that melds southern and Mexican is their awesome Barbecue quesadilla. It’s a great meal in itself as well. Portions are generous and you can get full meals or or mix and match a la carte. All of the expected tacos and chimichangas and burritos are available. Great place for large groups or just you. And parking is super easy with 2 city garages very close by.

I’ve eaten here twice now and I think the low rating is a bit harsh! I give it a 3.5. This is a solid little Tex-Mex joint. In my latest visit I went with the Spinach and Chicken quesadillas. YUM. The spinach was sautéed and the chicken was tender. They serve chips and salsa free of charge upon arrival. Great touch, but my sole complaint for the evening was the chips. They were a bit stale. The salsa however was mild, yet flavorful. I’ll be back.

La Paz has been a long time favorite of mine, but I went last night(a Saturday), and the service was terrible and the food was disappointing. To be fair, I’m doing a weird thing with my diet, so I didn’t get my usual(fish tacos — awesome!) or any other Mexican dish(also awesome). I got the avocado and tomato salad(not awesome and not what I pictured). It was a heap of shredded iceberg with really thin slices of avocado and pathetically pale tomatoes. It tasted fine, but it was pretty sad. I also got a hamburger, which was good. It was the service that was the real problem. I got my salad but sat without a fork for a good 10 minutes or more. By the time our meals came, we still didn’t have knives. When our waitress finally came over to see if we were okay, and I asked for silverware –again — she gave some excuse about another table needing drinks. So, let’s prioritize. I’ve got one table staring at their hot food with no means to eat it and another table waiting on their beers. What shall I do first??? So, she catches another waiter with silverware in hand and ask him to give it to us, but he’s so bent on getting it to his table(who doesn’t have food yet) that he tries to say he’ll come back with more for us. Needless to say, I gave him the look of death and he have us his silverware. I swear, I hate people! All that being said, I really like La Paz — food, location, atmosphere — all good. Maybe just don’t go at peak times or lower you expectations of service at those times.
