WORDONTHESTREET is THEYSOLDTHETRUCKFALLOF2012 and it’s now closed!!! Wonderful! The only downside is they are not open year around. All the bowls are awsome! I usually get the pork, add kimshi and extra sauce… chicken sticks are great… my wife loves the beef bowl.

This food truck is awesome! Ditto on checking twitter for locations. So far I’ve had the Bulgogi(Beef) and Chicken bowls. Neither are overly spicy. Barely sweet, with an almost smoky mild kick on the tongue that doesn’t linger at the back of the throat. For even more of a kick try adding some of the house hot sauce they have. Again not too spicy, just right. I’m holding out on the last star until I can try the pork bellie(belly), but to my sadness, their last day of the season at the West Frederick FM was 24 Sept.

* This is a truck. Please visit @gogo_gogi on Twitter to see where they are on the day of your visit. Having had Korean BBQ in Japan(the Japanese love Korean BBQ more than the Koreans I suspect) more times than I can recount, I have a decent feel for it. There is not too many places on the eastern seaboard especially in this area that does Korean BBQ, so when I had the chance to sample the truck at the Frederick Swinetastic BBQ Festival, I approached with apprehension. I’m glad I did decide to order a beef bowl. The beef was perfectly cooked and tasted as if it was marinated in galbi, and there was a good portion of it over the rice. Normally, a lot of places tend to over stuff the bowl with rice with very little meat giving the impression of a good amount of food. However this was the real deal. The homemade ssamjang sauce is really thick and gives well with the beef. I think for $ 7 it is certainly worth a try if you are in to BBQ like I am, and really want to try something new and different. As for myself, it was good to find real Korean BBQ without having to go back to Japan or Korea.

This delightful Korean BBQ food truck can be found at several Frederick area farmers markets. It seems the best way to find out where they’ll be is to follow them on Twitter(@gogo_gogi). We found the truck at the West Frederick Farmers Market on a recent Saturday around noon. The owner asked if we’d ever had KBBQ before and when we replied«no» he eagerly came out of the truck and offered us samples of each of the three varieties they serve: chicken, beef, and pork. All three were great… juicy, fragrant, and nicely spiced(enough to give it a wee bit of heat but not enough to keep my 6YO son from enjoying the samples). I fell in love with the beef and my wife with the pork, so we ordered one of each. They came in plastic bowls served over sticky white rice. We were offered a choice of chopsticks or plastic forks. There was a squeeze bottle of sauce on the counter, which I used to kick up the spiciness. Portion size was perfect… not too big, not too small. Pricing was more than reasonable for the quality and taste(~$ 6-$ 7 each). And nothing beat the service… the owner was so friendly and proud of his product, and we enjoyed chatting with him. We’ll definitely seek them out again. For another perspective, there was a recent write-up in the local paper: .
