Was very surprised to see the poor reviews. There was a smoke smell in the hall, but not in my bedroom. Bedroom was very nice, especially for the prices in the area. No free WiFi, would have had to pay minimum $ 3.99 a night. Oh well, can live without it for the night.

I reserved a non smoking room. Since only studios were available for non smoking, I upgraded mine to get a non smoking. At check in I was told they only have smoking room. I showed them the confirmation email with non smoking room. I had no choice but to spend the night in horribly smelly room. I am never going to stay in any of these hotels. Front desk person was nice, but couldn’t help us. Hotel otherwise was dark and dingy for which I paid handsome amount.

It’s working out, WIFI is completely useless and I wish we had more channels offered but it’s doable. I also wish there was pool and work out room. I will say that the location is good and easy access to shopping and restaurants. I will be here for a while so I’m making the best of an extended stay.

The company that I was going to work for booked this hotel. The hotel itself was dark, old, dingy and had a foul odor. My company switched me immediately. I will say however one of the front desk employees took care of me upon arrival. I would never stay here again and would not recommend it.

My family and I(a group of 7 ppl) reserved rooms at this hotel to attend a funeral in town. We were driving up from Florida leaving on a Friday arriving for late check in. Upon arrival, there was NOONE available at the desk, there wasn’t a notice — no indication at all. There was a gentleman sitting in the lobby talking on the phone. I asked if he was waiting to check in and he replied that he lives there and just knock loudly on the housekeeping door. Uh.ok. Knocked on the door and a lady came out the front desk and have the gall to be annoyed! She proceeded to attempt to teach me the location of the phone just outside the lobby doors intended for late check ins. When you pick up the phone, it rings the front desk… you don’t have to knock on doors, she says. Really lady!!! The rooms were ‘meh’ at best. There was a bug crawling on my pillow when I opened my eyes the next morning. Scared the crap out of me! Ugh! There were ants crawling around the kitchenette in my parent’s room. I get the«you get what you pay for» adage but we paid more than we got on this one! Needless to say, this will not be my first choice next time I visit Maryland.

It was clean and dry(rain was falling during my visit) but I will attempt to avoid this hotel when I visit in the future. I visited during the riding of the Face of America event to support inclusion in sporting activities(see more info at World T.E.A.M. Sports ). There were more than 500 riders and support staff staying at the many hotels in the area. First problem: I reserved my room and within a week I received a concerning email. It stated reservations were high and the hotel was making every effort to accommodate all guests. Big Red Flag! I was concerned the hotel was overbooked so I called to ask about the email, but no one answering the phone had a clue what the message meant or it’s implication(s) to me. Note to self: Get to the hotel quickly, just in case. I did not want to be ‘out in the cold’ after supporting wounded warriors on a grueling 60 mile bike ride. Second Problem: I was placed in a room labeled nonsmoking that had clearly been used by a smoking guest. As I approached the 3rd floor, I could smell smoke in the hall. I arrived at 5:15 pm and in my opinion there was a pronounced smell of smoke before I entered my room. When I entered the room, the air conditioner was running and both windows were open. Again, there was a pronounced smokey smell. I rechecked my door label and it clearly showed the little no smoking icon next to the room number. I am not sure what their plan was, but I could not stay in a smokey room overnight. Third Problem: The hotel attendant was hesitant to move me when I asked to be placed in an alternate room. I simply asked to be reassigned to a new room and that I was not satisfied with the smell. She hesitated and stepped away from the counter, as if she was heading to the laundry room. I had to get the attention of another staff member in order to resolve my issue. I was placed in a handicap room that was clean and did not smell like smoke. Guess what else was interesting? The windows were not open to exhaust any smoke odor. Imagine that. Fourth Problem: Their was no one available at checkout. There was a nice sign that stated the attendant would return in ten minutes, but no one showed after I waited for 22 minutes. Unfortunately, I could not get a receipt for my stay. Fifth Problem: The hotel lobby feels like a hostile. Very sparse and minimal staff. No uniforms. Off-duty employees standing around and visiting. To me, the lobby was not as professional as other hotel which charge about the same nightly rate. Free, slow WiFi.

Two days into my stay at the Extended Stay America– Frederick, someone persistently tried to enter my room. I called the front desk immediately and she stated she checked someone into my room despite my reservation. Had I not been in my room and locked every lock on the door, someone could have easily gained entry. Also disturbing was the response from the front desk of «oh umm… was your credit card charged?» This is scary and unacceptable. At least there are a lot of other budget hotel options in the area.
