This place presented a barrier to a VETERAN with a Service Dog. They claim the owner is allergic to dogs. They claim they have since learned the Federal law allowing Service Dogs, but a phone call was answered by a new employee who said they DONOTALLOWDOGS. After speaking with Patty Hurwitz, she said the new employee had not read the handbook, and that the guards DO know service dogs are allowed. I will be taking my business elsewhere, my dog is always welcome at KAY Jewelers, and Old Towne Jewelers in Walkersville. Besides, I have known of Colonial since 1964 and they are very high priced for what you get

Both my husband and I got our wedding bands here and we got my engagement ring here. We worked with Sarena the whole time and she is amazing! She was so patient, kind, and fun! We really had a memorable experience here and I couldn’t be happier.

My husband bought my engagement ring at Colonial, so when I want to sell some jewelry I inherited but would never wear, I though I’d go there. Big mistake! Although the place advertised that they buy estate jewelry, I think they are not that serious. I made an appintment and I took the set, necklace /ring /bracelette, to the store. The sales lady took it over to the guy she said was the owner. He looked over his nose at it for a slipt second. Then she brought it back saying he’s not interested. And that was it. No careful look at the pieces, nothing. A few days later I made an appointment with another jeweler, Circa in Bethesda. What a different. I met with Lee Segal, who was curtious and professional. He took a long time examining my pieces explain to me what he thought and asked appropriate questions. Circa took them in for consignment for 17000+. That was a few days ago. Eventhough the pieces haven’t been sold yet, the experience was very pleasant compare to the one I had with Colonial. So if I have estate jewelry to sell again, I would definitely not waste time with Colonial Jewelers. I’d take them to Circa.

Have purchased numerous pieces over the years from Colonial and expected to receive quality service and that was not the case. Would recommend you thoroughly check them out before you purchase. I expect quality suppliers and a jeweler that stand behind their name. I will not purchase another item from them again.

My watch starting acting funny. Called store and made an appointment with Kandi for the same day. She promptly evaluated my watch finding that it’s operation was only compromised by a nearly dead battery. I was treated from start to finish like I was there to buy a Rolex. Highly recommend this business for their commitment to customer service.

I purchased my new husband’s wedding gift from Janeene at Colonial Jewelers– a Rolex watch. Janeene worked so hard to discuss my options, worked with me to make sure I found something in my budget… and when what I wanted was slightly outside of my budget offered an interest-free 3 month payment period! She helped make sure my dream of giving this to my husband on our wedding day come true– and his dream of owning his first Rolex came true too! She walked me through everything clearly, was understanding and sympathetic to my needs and concerns– she is a lovely, lovely person and I won’t hesitate to reach out to her and Colonial next time we’re in the market for jewelry. Everyone I met or spoke with at Colonial were helpful and friendly!

My now fiancé and I went to colonial jewelers about a year ago to look at engagement rings. Mary Ann helped us mainly but everyone was so kind and warm. We narrowed it down to the few rings that I liked the most and then she measured our fingers and made a card up of what we liked. It was a super special time and they certainly made us feel that way. The next day I called just to let them know what an incredible job they did and how special they made me feel. When my fiancé went and purchased the ring it came with a little goody bag full of things, and we got to go back to ensure it was fitting properly. Again an amazing experience. I often want to just stop by to say hello to Mary Ann because she is truly so good at her job and made my fiancé and I feel like friends not just another client. Thank you all so much for the wonderful experience! I can’t wait to see you all soon to buy our wedding bands!

My fiancée purchased my custom engagement ring from Colonial Jewelers in 2012. Candy has been SO wonderful to us! We also just ordered our custom wedding bands a few weeks ago and are anxiously awaiting the weekend so we can go pick them up… Every time we walk in we are greeted with a smile! We love being part of the Colonial Jewelers family and look forward to doing business with them for many years to come :)

I love Colonial! They treat you like family and have an awesome selection. I went there to start looking for engagement rings thinking I’d have to look other places too. I found exactly what I wanted and it was in my boyfriend’s price range.

I recently visited this establishment because I wanted to have a few stones looked at for identification and worth from my travels. Plus their website stated they had a gemologist in house and that they were a family owned establishment. I called the place a day ahead to see if I needed an appointment. I spoke to a nice girl over the phone and she said that I did not need an appointment. I showed up and I felt like I was in the twilight zone. No one initially spoke to me when I walked in they all just stared kind of like«how dare she walk in this store». It was really uncomfortable and an icy reception. Then the girl at the front finally asked if she could help me. I told her I had called the day before to get some stones I had collected looked at for identification. She spread my stones out and took them to the back to a man sitting at a desk. He did not even look up from his computer and then a minute later sent her away. She came back stating the he thought they looked fake. I was really mad because he did not even look at them and he never came out of the office to speak to me about them. So I took my stones to another gemologist and he verified that I had two rubies and a few other rare stones. I am thankful that I did not listen to the fraud or unprofessional person at Colonial Jewelers. I would never use them or recommend them to anyone I know. I hope others read this posting before deciding on a jeweler this establishment is not the one!!! I just read the reviews on Google and noticed that this is not the first time that they have treated someone that is African American this way. Also read that they are known for ripping people off! This is really sad and I hope that they would learn from their customer reviews!

I love this place. Having grown up in Frederick, I’ve been coming here for years to look at things here and there and daydream of owning pieces of jewelery from this store. So I was thrilled this year when my fiancé went to Colonial for my ring. The thing is drop dead gorgeous. Complete strangers comment on how unique and beautiful it is. And, for the record, it’s not because it’s a giant diamond, it’s just beautifully done. The sales staff is extremely helpful, the store pristine, and you gotta love the classic rock playing in the background. Check out one of their events and support local business!

Housed in an old bank, the building is quite pretty and a good display for their jewelry. I was surprised, however, expecting a much larger selection considering how large the main room is. However, it was nice not to feel bombarded with all kinds of jewelry, it was organized and roomy. A good sized pearl and watch collection were on the walls and in the center was a display with all various necklaces, bracelets etc with gemstones, diamonds and so forth. They had one section dedicated just to Pandora. I stopped in for the Ladies Night Out where they served all you can eat appetizers(amazing!), champagne, truffles and gave out free manicures and chair massages. A girl can’t complain about that. Many of the employees were on hand and very excited to show you and let you try on various jewelry. The engagement ring settings are on the left when you enter and I checked them out while getting my nails done. They had some very nice rings, however, but they all tended to blend in to one another and there weren’t many unique ones that really popped out to me. It may just be my style, though. They are a bit on the pricey side, just FYI but they have a jeweler in house so you can expect quick turn around on jewelry polishing, settings and etc.
