I’ve driven by this place more than a million times and never noticed it was there. The only reason I went was because I was in the mood for a burger, so I Unilocaled burgers and filtered it through highest ratings and found this. My husband and I went. The place looked a little divey on the inside(the walls were nice, they just needed ‘better’ tables and chairs was all to elevate the appearance.) My husband got the lamb burger and onion rings. I got the burger with avocado and sprouts and fries. Both were an excellent burger at an very decent price. My husband said the onion rings were homemade and VERY good too. I saw they had a few different kinds of mustard on the table. I tried the Dussledorf and holy cow, that was DELICIOUS!!! I squirted an enormous pile of it on my plate and dipped my fries in it! I will absolutely go back again!

My husband and myself were looking for a place to go for a good burger. Well it wasn’t good at all. it was Great!!! Sweet potato fries were awesome. Very friendly owner that we enjoyed talking too as well. Just like Arnold says…(I’ll be back)!! I’ve tried putting five stars cause it deserves it. Every time I click on fifth star it blocks it out so I’m telling you all. ITIS A FIVESTARRATING!!!

It’s a good divey burger joint. It’s small and might be better for take out but we sat in and the waitress was really sweet. I had a custom burger with onion, avocado, lettuce and cheese. Ryan had the Gyro burger and curly fries. We were both really happy but Ryan wished the olives were chopped up and placed all over the burger instead he got 3 really yummy bites! Haha The jalapeño poppers were homemade and delicious. When we got the bill we were kind of surprised at the cost. A little pricey but I like the idea of a summer home cooked burger without doing the cooking. Interested to go back and try more :)

Abby Lane has been one of my favorite local take out restaurants for years. I’ve tried quite a few of their sandwiches(which are all really good), but I usually go with the Shroom Burger. It’s fast, always cooked to perfection, and most importantly — consistent. I don’t believe in the years I’ve been eating here that I’ve ever received food that I was unhappy with. I also recently discovered that they serve breakfast, and I thought I would give it a shot since they’ve always had such great lunch food… Wow! Abby Lane’s breakfast might even be better than their lunch! I would hands down say Abby Lane has the best breakfast in the area; it’s better than Central Station, Michaels, and even Roseanne’s. It’s a smaller size restaurant with limited seating, but if you’re looking for excellent food at very reasonable prices, you won’t be disappointed.

Happened to be on this side of town. Hungry. Looked up some Unilocal reviews for a place to eat & found this little gem. We had the burgers & fries, which were great, & cooked perfectly. They have a bunch to choose from, or you can build your own. They also have an array of sandwiches, dinners, & breakfast. Personally, I love an independently owned, family restaurant. Chains are not for me. The owner was the cook, & a really nice guy. It’s small… maybe 5 or 6 tables. And it’s in a little strip mall, so you have to look for it. But it’s worth it. I’ll be returning. And they have Beatles stuff on the walls. Great food!

I have been coming here since the day it opened. Best burger around hands down. Everything is cooked to order, fresh and staff is always nice & friendly. The Abby sauce is the greatest! Give it a try! You won’t be disappointed.

Flat out excellent burger!!! I’ve meant to try Abby Lane for years but just never got around to it, mostly, I think, because the place is tucked away in a little strip mall off most of the main drags I frequent. Anyway, tonight we placed a carry-out order(burger, Reuben, chicken pita, fries, onion rings) that covered most of the menu. Everyone raved about their selection. I had the Abby Burger and loved it. I recommend this place highly and will definitely remember to come back often.

I had the fried fish and sweet potato fries. Husband had The Abbey burger and onion rings. This meal was Great. I wish all onion rings were this crispy. I wish All sweet potato fries were this creamy inside and had such a delicate crust. Fish was lightly breaded and not gummy. So so good

This place is the epitome of the American dream at work. Family owned and run, its a small slice of America we should all take a moment and enjoy. Upon entering we were immediately greeted by the owner, who was very friendly. We took a seat and I got a moment to look around. The restaurant is small, but it’s very well maintained, clean and in great condition. It felt very comfortable and welcoming. The menu had a good variety of sandwiches, sides, appetizers, dinners, and even breakfasts(I’d LOVE to try breakfast here!). I decided to keep it simple with a quarter pound black angus burger topped with a fried egg, bacon, and cheddar cheese, and followed up with a side of tater tots. The waitress inquired how we wanted our burgers cooked, and even how I’d like my egg cooked. This is a trick more places should learn about. I love a fried egg on a burger, but not necessarily all of the messy yolk that accompanies it. So I got it fried with the yolk broken. The food came out a mere moments later smelling hot, fresh, and… yes, delicious. The burger was cooked to perfection, and had an incredible seared/char to it while maintaining it’s internal texture and temperature. The egg and bacon were heavenly and there was no skimping on the cheddar. The tots were cooked just right and piping hot. All in all this was an excellent showing for a place I think most people would miss or pass up. I saying don’t make that mistake. Stop in and try something. Let the food convince you…

Excellent burgers! We order from them frequently. The only thing i would change is not charging for every topping to drive the price up. Other than that we like them.

Best lamb burger in the metro Detroit area. Juicy, tasty lots of attention to detail. Goat cheese, toast bun with Parmesan cheese and much much more. I am coming back soon. Don’t let the dive type look deter you.

My family loves this place! Excellent service. It’s a small place but don’t let that fool you. The burgers are char grilled and very good. My favorite is The Shroom. And I like the option of having lettuce or sprouts. They have the best onion rings! Kudos to Abby Lane!

I got the shroom and it was perfectly prepared. My only objection was that I thought it could’ve been seasoned a little bit more to my liking. Not overly greasy with the right amount of toppings. I will add pickles and mustard next time. The onion rings were hand made, crispy and perfectly fried. Not a lot of batter and just the right thickness, I would recommend them if you like onion rings. I did try the ranch which seemed like it had a bit too much celery(seed/salt) flavoring but better than some that I’ve had, but definitely not the best. All in all a good experience. The cashier was friendly, prices reasonable. Check out their specials when you go. I didn’t notice them until after I ordered.

Pretty solid stuff for a burger joint. I agree w some other posts that it is as good as Red Coat without the price. Surprised they did not have a Bacon Cheeseburger as one of the main burgers — but you can always«build» one. We will definitely go back.

During my «I don’t care what I eat, I’m gonna binge!» week over the Holidays we stopped here for lunch. It is right near my house and is a place I have been wanting to try for some time now. After the first bite I immediately thought to myself«WHYDID I WAITSOLONGTOEATHERE?!» All of their burgers are a half pound of ground Black Angus beef and are cooked to perfection! It was nicely seasoned and was so juicy. As others have said, they give Red Coat Tavern and other similar places a serious run for their money and at a fraction of the price. The average burger runs you $ 6.99, but if you want their Monster(which is a full pound of meat) or their Lamb Burger you are going to pay a little more. The wifey and I both opted for the«Abby» which is their signature burger and it did not disappoint. It was topped with peppered bacon, lettuce, tomato, avocado slices, alfalfa sprouts, and their Abby sauce which is like a fancy kicked up mayo. The sprouts were what made the burger in my opinion. It gave it a nice earthy flavor that balanced out the richness of the beef and avocado. I was going to opt to add cheese to it, but forgot when we placed the order and you know what? I didn’t even miss it. All in all it was hands down one of the best pieces of meat I have ever put in my mouth, and I have put a lot of meat in my mouth. Get your head of out the gutters you sickos! I am talking about food here. Sheesh! But seriously, why are you still sitting there? GOTRYTHISPLACE!

Tucked away in a small strip mall on 15/Garfield, this is a solid mom/pop burger joint. On a Friday night, it was quite busy with take out orders and a full room of people eating in. There are only about 6 – 7 tables, and it’s waitress service. You pay at the front when you are done, and tip in the common tip jar. The food: 1) ½ pound Shroom Burger: Mushrooms, Caramelized Onions, and Swiss Cheese. It was a great tasting burger, but I ordered a medium. I tend to like my burger a true medium and more pink. The hot hot mushrooms and cheese might have overcooked it. 2) Regular Burgers: Toppings are additional from .35 to $ 1. You can also order a baby burger, ¼, 1/3, and ½ pound. A typical half pound burger with cheese, tomato, lettuce will run you about 6 dollars. So, I wished I tried the onion rings, but I got a side of fries. I would pass on the fries next time, because it wasn’t anything special. I will def. go back, and I’m going to try the Abby Lane burger or veggie burger next time. I’m a huge fan of their alfalfa sprout toppings on it!

TL;DR: Abby Lane has THEBEST tasting burgers in Michigan. To be honest, I don’t know how I found this place. I think it was Unilocal, but I don’t remember how I stumbled across a little burger place with a measly nine reviews on this site. All I know is, I’m glad I managed to try it out. As seen in my picture, I got a «The Bleu» burger with jalapenos and bacon added, cooked medium-rare, and with a side of onion rings. I don’t know what else to say other than that this is easily one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. Forget about Achatz, as tasty as their food is. The only burger that I’ve had to this date that I preferred was The Plague Bringer at Kuma’s Corner in Chicago. My burger was cooked to juicy perfection with a great grilled, char-broiled sort of flavor. The toppings were plentiful, and I couldn’t ask for more. The onion rings were also top-tier, as far as I’m concerned. Extremely crispy, fresh, and comparable to Blimpy Burger in Ann Arbor’s onion rings. If you come to Abby Lane, do yourself a favor and get an order of the rings. Not only was the food top notch, but the price was super reasonable at $ 10 for a half pound burger(with some extra toppings) with onion rings. I hope this place has many, many years left, because their sloppy, fantastic burgers and crispier-than-you’d-believe onion rings are something that any connoisseur would love.
