Very friendly people work here. Jonnie and the wait staff really go out of thier way to take care of you. Even gave us to go drinks. Sit outside its really relaxing. I had thier bbq bacon burger. I couldn’t finish it. It was huge I cut it in half. Im going to come here more often its close to home and I really like the atmosphere.

I like this place. The bbq wings are their best. It’s a nice country place. Downtown Franklinton is pretty dismal and this is the only bright spot. Alcohol is priced well and the wings are great. A lot of things are made in house. But it’s not the kind of place you get a salad. The bbq burger is pretty swell, but I always prefer the wings. Bluegrass music on some Friday nights makes a nice hang out.

had lunch here for the 1st time yesterday, and it was really good! my son got a great cheeseburger, and i ordered the cheesesteak sandwich. it was fantastic! thick slices of steak, mushrooms, onions and green peppers, with provolone cheese on a crusty roll… the frenchfries that came with it were some of the best i’ve ever had… when my husband came home, i told him about lunch, and he wanted to go for dinner! he got some of their chicken wings, and a combination shrimp&oyster plate… the wings were crispy, and seasoned just right. the shrimp weren’t fabulous, but the oysters were !! i enjoyed another cheesesteak sandwich and fries… yummy! the owner and his family are friendly and happy to please. we will definitely be going here again!

Went back on a night when there was a big event in town. Restaurant ran out of wings at 7pm. Server was sweet and helpful, but if I hadn’t met her the first time I was here, I would have thought it was her first night. Got the Reuben. Fair sandwich, should have been sliced thinner, then it wouldn’t fall apart with each bite. Disappointed no more sweet potato fries. They are really nice people, but they are in way over their heads. Food is fair at best. I am sure most of it is precooked. They run out of items all the time. Just not worth trying again.

Starting with the most important… Food was delicious! Wide variety of starters, salads, sandwiches, baskets, burgers and seafood. We all had seafood — fried catfish plate, fried catfish sandwich and fried oysters — with side salads(many dressings to choose from), cheesy mac & cheese and freshly friend French fries. Unsweetened tea(of course they have sweetened as well) and coca-cola to drink. Yum! My husband and I brought his grandma here(in a wheelchair) shortly after 2PM on a Thursday. Johnny himself met us at the door and escorted us to an accessible table with easy access to the door. He brought us menus, told us about some of the new items that hadn’t been printed yet and explained that he threw out the mixed vegetables(side) because he didn’t like how they looked. He was very personable and patient with us the whole time. He made some recommendations and we placed our orders. He explained that nothing(except the mac and cheese, as a side) were pre-cooked, so it would take 10 – 15 minutes to cook our food. He then came back and explained that they ran out of coleslaw during the lunch rush and wouldn’t have more until the afternoon produce delivery, so he asked what sides we’d like in its place. Normally a restaurant running out of something would annoy me(due to poor planning), but in this case it makes me believe that the food is super fresh. The ambience is very nice. Clean, industrial look that incorporates a lot of the original architecture of the building(like exposed brick, concrete floor and wood beams on the ceiling). Tables are extra large, easily accommodate 4 and could comfortably accommodate more. Chairs are comfortable. Large glass windows look out over Main Street. Definitely worth checking out!

I’ve been once a week for the weeks that JOM has been open. I have thoroughly enjoyed each meal I’ve had. On our first visit, the restaurant was packed, we weren’t sure we’d get a table. It was their third day open with a limited menu. We waited for service, but the service we received was wonderful and our meals were excellent. The next visit was on a really busy night with several large groups in the place.(We knew going in it would be like that, since there were some big events happening in town). We ordered appetizers, drinks and desserts. The staff worked really well together. Several different ones would come by to check on us. We never felt slighted since we were not part of the larger parties. In fact, just the opposite. We felt they went out of the way to serve us. Yesterday, I brought a friend for her birthday lunch. We had other friends meet us there and brought our children too. It was great! Service time has improved greatly. The specials were delicious. Of the seven of us, only two ordered of the menu. Every one else had a special sandwich. Five of our party were first timers. I suspect they’ll be returning and bringing others. ***I recommend Redneck Nachos Main Street Cheese steak Fried Pickles The hotdogs on the new England buns Any Burger & the BLT

I have been waiting for JOM to open and I am very excited about it and love going there to eat! I have not had a bad meal and I have been many times since the opening night. Yes the wait staff and kitchen staff had some«kinks» but they are working them out. Thank goodness most people in Franklinton are supportive and want to see this business grow. I have nothing but praise and support for Johnny’s On Main and look forward to many good times spent at a local place in my hometown. We now have more places to eat and each place is different! I love having locally owned restaurants and not the«chain» ones. It adds personality to our little town and hopefully with everyone’s support this business as well as others will prosper and that in turn will help Franklinton prosper!

I have been to this restaurant several times since opening and have not been disappointed yet. The staff are extremely friendly and each visit you can see that the few«kinks» are worked out. I have tried several different meals and each has been very good. While some may have there reservations on what is spicy and not, try the firehouse burger, it is loaded with jalapenos. The atmosphere is good and the bar is unique. Our meals have been hot and cooked to order each time. The only thing that would be nice if there were more draft options, currently they have 3. Each visit, I continue to try new items and have not found anything yet I do not like. The desserts are homemade and have been different each time we were there. I highly recommend this place and plan on continuing to eat here.

I cannot say I’m a fan, though that is not to say I didn’t like it, I did think it was okay. Johnny’s on Main is probably the best thing the run down downtown Franklinton has going for it right now. This town needs a facelift, and Johnny’s seems to be the place to get that kickstarted. Pros: Nice atmosphere, nicely decorated — a little strange with the currugated metal bar and wall. The paint job inside adds a bright and lively feel to the place. Fair prices Food isn’t bad Service is friendly The buns are FRESH!!! Very nice! Cons: Timing on the food — wings came out kind of lukewarm, meals came out 2 minutes after the wings arrived. Beer selection — 3 beers on tap, 2 of which I wouldn’t have ordered to begin with and the third(I was told was a darker beer), I tried, but wouldn’t bother to try again — call me a beer snob — that beer wasn’t a dark, it was just a little darker color of orange as opposed to yellow. Acoustics — almost have to shout to be heard, and our server seemed to be struggling to tell us things without having to raise her voice Just some things to note: The spicy shrimp isn’t really spicy, the buffalo hot wings, not really very hot, and the spicy chicken sandwich — well, again, not spicy. That’s not to say the food was bland or tasteless, it was all pretty tasty. With that said, I’m not sure what it is that defines«hot» and/or «spicy» in and around almost all of NC, but if it doesn’t make me sweat, it doesn’t meet my definition of either. This isn’t meant to be personal or a dig against the restaurant, it’s just an observation: There was a LOT of staff(servers) but it seemed like each was on their own(lack of teamwork?), with some just kind of looking like they were looking for something to do. Our server was slammed and doing the best she could to keep up. I’m thinking if someone was helping to expedite the service(teamwork) we would have seen our wings much sooner than we did and they wouldn’t have arrived lukewarm and two minutes before our meals came out. Again, just an objective observation.

Stopped by Saturday with the family for an early dinner. Love the space, growing up in Franklinton the building occupying Johnny’s On Main was know as City Service Station. Its great to see the century old building preserved as well as the Coca-Cola Advertising being rebranded and preserved. While they only had a limited menu leading up to their grand opening everything was great, especially enjoyed the Redneck Nachos and Spicy Chicken Sandwich. Looking forward to the Dinner Menu and hopefully this venture will pave the way to the rebirth of Downtown Franklinton. Read less
