Unruli Aveda

Management is either horrible or the front desk girl, Emily, is a liar and should be fired. I’ve been a loyal customer to Aveda for 20 years from Chicago to Nashville and this is the worst run salon I’ve ever been to. They offer you a $ 10 referral fee, but when you try to claim it on your next appointment, Emily will make up new rules, disqualifying you for the referral. Recent example, I referred my stepson, then my own son. Emily said «children don’t count». Ok, then I referred my stepdaughter (she’s 16 & pays full price for haircut, color & products), Emily said «family didn’t count». I referred my friend, Emily said «they no longer offer referral discounts». WTF?! When I asked to speak to a manager, Emily said «she just left for lunch». I received an email 2 days after my recent visit about reviewing my experience and an offer for $ 10 in referrals, again, WTF?! I called to speak to the manager (Emily answered) and of coarse the manager was on vacation. I called back the following week (Emily answered) and got disconnected, twice! Unruli will not get a dime of my money or any more referrals from me. Not to mention that Jenna doesn’t get the concept of ombré hair as I have 2, not 3, distinct colors in my hair. It goes from my natural dark blonde to left over hi lights from 8 months ago & no variation in between. Tara cuts hair good, takes her time the first 2 times, but then seems too busy to wash & dry & style your hair after she does a dry cut after that. At $ 80 a cut, I expect to leave w/​a great cut, washed & styled. I never leave reviews, but this place is run horribly & Aveda headquarters will be hearing from me, as well.

I’ve been going to Uli for several years now. I will travel from West Nashville down to Franklin to get a haircut from Uli. He is the only one who consistently gets it right. I appreciate the time he spends with me and how he listens to me when I want a certain look/​cut. I’ve been to many, many (many, many) other stylists and still, I’ve never had better haircuts than I do now. Needless to say, I will continue to go to Unruli as long as I’m living in Nashville! :)

Summer in Tennessee means fighting humidity for good hair days! I’m just back from a morning of purely selfish «me-​time» at Unruli Aveda Salon in downtown Franklin, TN. Today I got a Kerafusion treatment with Uli, and his delightful assistant, Lucy. My hair is sealed and silky for a Roatan holiday and a hot Tennessee summer.
I’m a discriminating customer of service providers, and expect a lot from those who claim to be best. Unruli hasn’t let me down yet, and I’m on my 3^rd year there. As one who has been known to drive 2 hours for a good cut, (when I lived in a small town), I would willingly travel for Uli and Jenna, and Sarah, and Erin, and Lucy. Lucky me! I live in walking distance of the salon. Unruli is not only a hot-​bed of top-​notch talent, but a big hearted salon with an eye to philanthropy. Uli is starting up a beauty school in Nicaragua called «Beauti of Hope». Here, he will train women in a new trade, giving them HOPE for a better life, and bringing a ray of his own spark into a 3^rd world paradise. That’s 5 star!

My second visit and it feels like I’ve always been a customer. Great stylists and the quality only Aveda offers.

I was working in Nashville and needed my haircut desperately. I promised my regular stylist that I would stop getting my haircut by random people while traveling for work I should have stuck to this promise :(I made my appointment at Unruli based on the reviews that I read what a HUGE mistake. As others have mentioned in the Unilocal reviews this salon is overpriced for stylists that are experimenting on your head! I sat in her chair explained what I was hoping to accomplish and asked that she only use scissors since I have curly hair NO RAZORS etc assured me that she understood. Apparently she didn’t because at some point she pulled out thinning shears which I have come to find out is a razor effect — WORST HAIRCUT I have ever had. Once the panic subsided I called my salon at home and told them I needed to get in ASAP. Again, I promised my stylist that I will never pick a random salon while traveling and have my haircut. Honestly I have learned my lesson the only good thing that came out of Unruli was this commitment. What a great disappointment this shop was/​is.

I finally found an amazing salon! We moved to Franklin from Los Angeles nine months ago. I tried a few salons before coming here. I was so unhappy with my color and cut with these other salons. I was starting to fear that I would have to wait until we visited Los Angeles to get my hair done again, until I found Unruli! This salon is so wonderful.
I have had my hair colored three times by Frazier. Not only is he such a sweet, fun, caring person, he is also amazing with color. I came to him with way too much bleach in my blonde hair. He mixed many colors together and gave me such a beautiful, natural looking blonde, that is so much more flattering to my eyes and skin tone. He is truly an artist.
I have the amazing Uli, the owner of the salon, cut my hair. It is the best hair cut I’ve had in at least 10 years. He knew how to tame my very thick and coarse hair with beautiful layers that fall just right around my face and shoulders. He gave me a cut that is low maintenance, easy to style and I feel beautiful. He gave me a Brazilian Blow out last week, and I must say it is the best thing I have ever done for my hair. He is a magician! I can’t believe what a difference it has made in my hair. It cut my drying time in half and it is so silky and smooth. Even my young sons noticed a big difference. Everyone that has frizzy, coarse, thick hair should be required to have this amazing service. I truly have straight silky, easy to manage hair like I did when I was a kid! Truly the Brazilian Blow Out is the best invention since the cell phone, as far as I’m concerned, and Uli has mastered the art!
I couldn’t be happier with this salon. It is a home that has been renovated into a salon, in an amazing location, that is walking distance to all of the amazing stores and restaurants of historic Franklin. You feel at home the second you walk in the door. They don’t overbook and you get your stylist’s full attention the entire time you are there. The front desk is so friendly as is everyone that works there. Give yourself the best gift ever and go to this salon and ask for Frazier and Uli. AMAZING!!! I am a customer for life!

i waited a few months to write a review because every haircut should look good the first few weeks, right? So, three months later, I can say honestly that I am STILL happy with my cut and brazilian blowout from Uli. I was so impressed at the time I got my mom a gift certificate and she was thrilled as well. Three months after my cut and blow out my hair still dries straight naturally and I’m still getting compliments. I hope this lasts a long time since I won’t get to see Uli until next December, but will definitely be booking another appointment.

Overrated! You pay very high prices for 20-​something stylists who experiment on your hair! I tried to like it. I go every 3 weeks for color and am worth keeping happy. After leaving with BRIGHT red hair because they didn’t have time to fix it, I came back 2 days later and had to pay to have it corrected. Believe me that was the last time! Lesson: if you want to look like the tattoo covered stylists you are in the right place. If not, move on.
That said there are some lovely people who work there and I love the hand massage. It just wasn’t for me.

I asked a friend of mine where she gets her hair done because she always has super cute, fantastic looking hair. She told me which stylist at Unruli cuts her hair. I quickly checked out Unilocal,and booked an appointment.
For the price and the hype I expected to be thrilled — and pampered. I will spare her the embarrassment of naming her, but my stylist never showed up for our appointment! Giving Unruli credit for their customer service, the owner of the salon, Uli, did rescue the situation and he offered to cut my hair — and for a significant discount.
His cut was great! I am going to say that perhaps it was the whole strangeness of the situation with my «no-​show stylist» that had everyone a little confused, but no one ever washed my hair (they dry cut there) so even though they curled it after the cut (my «styling») I had flat hair less than 3 hours later and had to wash and restyle my hair that afternoon prior to meeting my fiancé for dinner.
So, yes, I got a great haircut. And, ultimately that is what you want when you go to a salon. But, for a higher end salon with high end prices I really expect the «whole package» and I was disappointed by having to come home and redo my hair. It was a very confusing overall experience. Not sure if the cut alone is enough to pull me back. I’ve just perused Unilocal and am trying a new salon tomorrow.

I have nothing but brilliant things to say about Uli and the complete staff of Unruli Aveda Salon Franklin, Tn. I am from the Atlanta area and visit my son in Franklin frequently. I have been a very devoted customer of the salon for over 3 years and I always come out looking great!!! I had the brazillian blowout done by the master Uli and I get compliments everywhere I go.
