Always a nice stop here. If the weather allows definitely sit out on the deck by the bayou. They are sometimes out of a few things on the menu so best to be flexible.

Joes’ service staff is the epitome of southern hospitality! Lunch was excellent from side potato salad to lunch buffet; red beans & rice, smothered ribs, smothered chicken, and my sweet tea with Tennessee Jack Daniels and a side of lemon. Joes sits right on the bayou. We were humored with the tales of Thomas the alligator who one day was sitting on the patio, Rangers were called out to relocate Thomas. Later they learned that Thomas who was perhaps Thomasina has six chil’ren :) Good food and great conversation!

Joel’s on the bayou is one of the best things about Franklin. The plate lunches are always amazing! Just as good as ya mama’s, I promise. All the poboys I’ve had there are top notch, save one. The fried shrimp. Now, I LOVE a fried shrimp poboy as much as any Cajun but this was just bad. It seemed like frozen fried shrimp. Not frozen shrimp that was fried, but frozen FRIED shrimp. It was just nasty. With that said it could have just been a bad batch of shrimp, and I’m willing to try it again just to make sure. That is the only thing that keeps this from getting a 5 star review in my book.
