It took 30+ minutes for us to get our food, when only two other tables were occupied in the diner. The scrambled eggs were tasteless – no seasoning whatsoever. Dishes in general were overpriced. To top it off, when we went to pay, the waitress seemed confused and annoyed when I asked her to keep a tip out of the change. She ended up just giving us all the change and telling us to work it out ourselves. Not sure how much clearer I could have been when I said, «Please keep four dollars as a tip.» You were already giving me singles. Count them on your fingers if you need to, dear. This is a cash-only venue, so enjoy getting screwed by ATM fees if you use their machine. On the plus side, the diner, while small, is clean and cutely kitschy. But the bland, overpriced fare, long wait, cash-only limitation, and unfriendly staff isn’t going to bring us back.

my father introduced me to this place years ago. Ive been coming here couple years after that. Never once have i had a complaint. Food is always good. Hash-browns is what you need need to try. Comes with almost every meal. But still, make sure you get them. Its kinda a fathers day tradition to come here. Since the only time we can actually do it since his wife doesn’t like this style of restaurants. So its always a father son thing, But this year we are introducing my son so now we will have 3 generations going. Keep up the good work Johnnie’s.

Haven’t been back in a while and realized that I neither missed it now was all yay woohoo we’re going back happy about it. I’ve eaten through a lot of the menu bc we used to come here every day for breakfast. The portions are huge which is a great value but this isn’t the first time I didn’t finish my plate and I’m known to be a happy eater. They have good biscuits and gravy which my husband had. I had a BLT club. It was filling, the lettuce so fresh that it seems like they grow it in the back. My issue was with the bacon. Holy salt lick Batman! Don’t get me wrong, it was good but geezus! The salt overpowered everything else! In fact, I still have that salt taste in my mouth and I finished my lunch 45 minutes ago. Please fix this!

Great Diner Breakfast at reasonable prices. The staff are nice, and the food is really good, but it’s cash only, so make sure to hit the ATM before you head over.

This place is amazing! Don’t let the area its in fool you! The girls that work there are really nice and the place itself is kinda tiny but you’ll always find where to sit! Their steak and eggs are awesome, make sure to ask for the spices for an extra kick! Best part of all, they’re always open!

My favorite spot for a cheese and green pepper omelet with hash browns. They just don’t taste the same at any other Johnnie’s. The service is always great and my kids love doing a scratch off while we wait for our food. Make sure to bring cash because they don’t take credit cards, but they do have an atm.

They’ve got the best ham and cheese omelets; however, that opinion my be skewed by the fact that I’ve been drunk 88% of the time I’ve eaten there. On the other hand, my friends and I would go there every other Wednesday morning for coffee and breakfast, which was always a delight. Overall, it’s a seedy joint, but if you look past the dingy appearance, you’ll find yourself enjoying a great meal.

Mad props to Steak & Egger for not even closing on Christmas! I needed some grub to go after drinking at the bar all night, and even White Castle was closed! Low & behold, Steak & Egger to the rescue! I’ve been coming to this place since high school, & have never had a bad meal. My all time favorite is the skirt steak with eggs & hash browns. Their pancakes & french toast are also fire. As somebody else mentioned, the non breakfast items are also wonderful. Especially the burgers and the patty melts. Also, i don’t know what it is about their coffee, but it’s super good. Great unhealthy food that’s kind to your wallet.

Steak N Egger Rocks! I worked there for many years, and ate there for many years before that. It is the BEST place to come at 3:00AM to soak up a night of hard drinking. They are always open, no matter WHAT day or time it is. The«Johnnie’s Big Boy» is a GREAT burger if your in the mood for one. It’s a 1lb. chopped steak served on grilled texas toast with grilled onions, mayo, lettuce, and cheese. Comes with fries for about $ 6.00 Steak n Eggs, great. I would reccommend the skirt steak personally. The Ribeye is a little grissely(sp??) Biscuits and gravy rock as well. They have another location on Lake and Mannheim as well as the one on Fullerton and Mannheim. Either way, the food is good, and the neighborhood is not TOO bad. Mannheim has a lot of hookers(crackwhores), but they are harmless. They really don’t bother with you, unless you bother them. Definately go and try it. I don’t think you’ll regret!!!

A common anology: It’s like finding a $ 20 bill in an old pair of jeans. An anology more fitting for Steak N’ Egger: It’s like finding a $ 20 bill in a pair of jeans you found in the sewer. What are you doing looking for jeans in the sewer? The same reason you’re looking for a good meal at Steak N’ Egger. Anyways, you’ll find what you’re looking for. Like the title, try the Steak and Eggs with Hashbrowns. The rib-eye is average but everything else goes above and beyond. Or, try their biscuits and gravy. If you aren’t in the mood for breakfast, get their hamburgers or sandwiches. Either way, if you come here once, you’ll come here twice.
