Where to begin… The greasy floor should have been our was our first warning to leave. But hey we went knowing that this was a greasy spoon kinda place. When we ordered from the breakfast menu, the waitress informed us that that they were out of biscuits and gravy so we switched to burgers. We talked at length with the waitress about what came on the famous Campfire Burger. It’s a huge cheeseburger loaded with their pulled pork and cole slaw — sounds perfect! Let’s do it! I then asked if the fries were gluten free and she replied«everything here has gluten. It will all make you fat». Hmm not good but hey I saw pics of their fries so I know I’ll be fine. Our food came quickly which was great except it was not what we ordered, it was in fact a plain old double cheeseburger. «Hmm I don’t know why» she said, «I wrote down Campfire Burger». Then she added we don’t have pulled pork today. And left us our check. It was just such a strange experience. My husband and I looked at each other dumbfounded and did something we have never done before. We got up and left!

This was my first time stopping by the Campfire Kitchen. I was in the mood for a stereotypical breakfast of hash browns, eggs, bacon – you get it. I had the«Campfire Breakfast,» which is a sampler of all breakfast-y goodness. My coffee was good(hot and fresh!) The food wasn’t bad. My food wasn’t very warm when I got it, so that definitely impacted my opinion. I think that the biscuits and gravy were the best part. I’ll probably go back and give it another shot in the future. It’s nice to have another breakfast option in Frankfort, and I hope this was just an off day for them.
