Waited and waited for a waiter or waitress, gave up went to Gianni’s for a steak and cheese… not paying for lousy service.

Not sure how I feel about this place. When first walking in, you’re greeted by an old musty scent, like an old apartment or event hall. You seat yourself, and eventually the servers notice you arrived and get to you. The menu is standard pub fare, but the quality of food seems to be a bit more«homemade». Seafood and burgers are pretty good compared to others in the area. Not sure if I’ll be back… just can’t get over the dated ambiance and odor.

Awful service. About an hour to receive meal, it was monday burger night… im assuming waiter forgot. The meals finally arrive, I had ordered chicken parm sandwich.. it was not under cooked it was RAW! I understand mistakes happen, but the owner comes over and says he will comp my meal that’s it. He started getting rude, and said it was under cooked because the cooks are so busy. that’s by no means an excuse, he was barely apologetic if anything he was rude. Never in my life have I seen costumer service at such a low.

Update: Don’t bother going here for the Lobster Roll. Truly disappointed. Have been coming here for years and always enjoyed the overflowing lobster(see«BEFORE» pics), but now they’re charging the same amount and giving you HALF as much, possibly even less than half. 5 ounces! I complained about the change and it was met with indifference. So… Crossing this place OFF my list!

This past Monday night, group of 8. 3.99 burger night! With 50cent toppings! Included fries. Burgers were excellent, service great & beer cold. Since this was a reunion gathering, we much appreciated our server’s patience as we all chatted.

Not a bad local restaurant, but not that great either. The fried food tastes like old oil, but the lobster specials can be good.

Serves a good drink. Food is solid and menu offers many options. Good place to go for a casual drink. Wouldn’t recommend for anything more than that.

Stopped in for quick lunch. Chicken salad sandwich was fine, other than chef putting on tomatoes when asked NOT to… About what you’d expect for a local bar. Would give it another try.

Awful. Even if I choose to ignore the horrible townie atmosphere, and unfriendly staff, I could not ignore a sharp plastic shard in my wife’s burger. After the waitress handed me a 10 dollar bill for the burger and did not reimburse for the entire meal i walked out of there and I will never be back. This place is just horrible…

Absolutely awful. Food was terrible, staff wasn’t helpful, and the atmosphere was one if a retirement home. Eerie and gross.

Went there on a Thursday evening. tips and ribs and were on special. Ordered the steak tips and there were ok, nothing special. There weren’t tough, but they were dry, despite the menu stating they were marinated in ‘special’ sauce. The house salad was wilted, appears to have been sitting in the fridge all day. Baked potato was good but the string beans were soggy and over cooked. My partner had a caesar salad, appears to have been freshly made(at least not as wilted as my salad). Nothing special this trip, we won’t be back. Service was good and bartender friendly.

I went there about a month ago with my wife and three small children. At first we were about to leave as when we entered we just stood there not knowing if we should seat ourselves or not. Eventually another customer told us to sit where ever we wanted. We sat closest to the door just in case we had to make an exit. Luckily we waited and were served by a great waitress, I wish I remembered her name. The food came in a timely manner and the waitress was so good with my kids and making sure they were well taken care of. The food was Delicious and generous portions. The kids ate all their food which is rare. I had the chicken parm and it was great. This is a nice little place tucked away. The staff just needs to keep an eye on the door for newbies. I had actually tried going there a few months before and after walking in and waiting a few minutes without being told where to sit or if I could even seat myself I left.

We went here on a Wednesday night before the 4th and sat in the bar area. It wasn’t very crowded. There’s darts and a juke box. Atmosphere is just a dive pub. We had buffalo chicken fingers as an app which were very good. I think they were about $ 8 for 6 which is great. My husband had fish and chips which was just ok. The table next to us also had it and there’s looked better. I think his was a bit overcooked. I had the lobster roll which was a tad salty but still very good and an excellent value for $ 15. Plenty of meat! I am usually not a fan of steak fries but I thought theres were pretty good. Service was also very friendly.

I really like this place. It has two areas: there’s a bar area, and a restaurant. I don’t know anything about the bar side. As for the restaurant, I always enjoy the food. It’s pretty basic, but I’m almost always satisfied with the value– and I often feel more expensive places don’t deliver enough for the price. They have a turkey dinner for around $ 10, and there are always appealing specials. Their salads have a nicer mix of vegetables than most other places, and are very fresh. The décor is below average, but the service ranges from good to excellent. On a subsequent trip, I decided that they really have to replace the ceiling tiles in the dining room. They were turned brown by years of cigarette smoke, prior to the smoking ban.

Excellent value! If you’re looking for reasonably priced pub food and a fun atmosphere, this is your place! Nice service, good food and strong drinks. A pleasant surprise!

A total townie place, but don’t be scared. we were meeting some friends and we got to their hood much earlier than expected so we looked for a place that would have a quick bite and a beer… we stumbled upon the Nobscot Café. We sat on the bar side, it was very dark and needs a good face-lift but was otherwise fine. Waitress was nice, the food came out timely and the beer was cold. My husband order a turkey club and I ordered a pizza app — I didn’t care for my food as the bread was super soggy but hubby liked his sandwich. I certainly won’t make a plan to go back during my next visit to MA but was a good place to kill some time with a cold beer.

We just moved to the north side of Framingham and were checking out someof our restaurant options in the area online. My husband found the menu for Nobscot online, and grilled cheese for $ 3.50? I was sold! We went on a Friday night and it was busy, but not crowded. It was starting to fill up more as we left, though. Looked like a band was setting up to play. We started with the stuffed mushrooms, which were pretty good! Cooked well and not floating butter like you sometimes find at more«pub» type places. Don’t get me wrong, I love me some butter… but there’s a time and a place! My husband(who has an uncanny ability to zero in on pasta dishes at pub style restaurants… why, I don’t know) had chicken and broccoli pasta and said it was really good with sauce loaded with white wine and butter(see, now THERE’S a sidh where too much butter is a good thing!). I had a BLT, which was $ 4. FOURDOLLARS for a BLT and fries! They’re steak fries, which aren’t my favorite, but hey, for cheaper than Friendly’s in a place that serves beer, I’m not going to complain! The waitstaff and all the patrons were super friendly, too. Close to home, inexpensive, and good service… we’ll definitely be back!

This place is the epitome of Townie Bars. Love it. Stay away from that crazy chocolate cake though, it’s good, but it might kill you. I’d give it 5 stars but for the want of better beers.

4 stars listen up! so mer and i went out for our new sunday night tradition, going out. i know, its passé and especially here on this site, of course your suppose to go out, well now we can official say, we are one of you! i digress, so this place is right up the street from the abode, plus some stars for that alone. i know location is petty compared to the experience, but i have to admit, location is key when the little guy could wake up at any moment. this place was pretty open floor, a 20 seat bar, 8 tables, double dart boards, juke box, golden tee, keno, lottery, townies. one of us ONEOFUS! so we entered the place around 7 on a sunday, pretty low key, some locals, a family or two, a elderly couple drinking house wine out of a carafe, not sonsie for sure! we pony up to the high top and wait for service, wait and wait, finally the bar keep came over, no worries, here a menu and what will you have to drink. i wanted a newcastle, but their tap selection wasnt having it. they had bass, guinness, coors light, bud, standard fare for sure. bass for me, mer otoh wasnt so easy. shes had a rough day and wanted something a bit stronger, this is not where their strong suit is, yup, you heard it here first, nobscots is not the place to go for culture defining mixed drinks. that being said she fell back on her stand by, the gimlet. it was strong and somewhat too limey, but hey, what do you want. the best part? her 2 oz pour was cheaper than my bass. true dat! so while we sat there pondering the ponderables for dinner, this guy came up to us and handed us a piece of paper, we thought karaōke(not tonight) for sure, but no, better, trivia, what better TRIVIA! rock and roll, now we have an evening event. i put in my order for a cheese burger med. rare and awaited for the questions to start. round one was easy, we aced it and took home the prize, a budwiser shirt sized medium, mer, you get this prize. 4 more rounds broken up with Olympic diversions,(GOUSAHOCKEY!) and a decent burger with tasty steak fries a few more drinks and the final round of trivia. this was a good two hours, but we werent in a rush to get home. well triviaics, we took home the gold ourselves we won the whole event, we even beat the 6 person townie contingent in the corner and to victor went the spoils, which in this case was a bottle of black cherry rum, who wants a piña colada? all in all the whole night was cheap! well for a 6er of drinks and a couple of dinner treats we paid 40 beans, not bad with a t-shirt and a bottle of victory-booze to match. needless to say, we now have a decent sunday night trivia/dinner standby.

This is by far one of the more well known restaurants for Framingham townies. Many long-term residents from all over«the ham» come here weekly for dinner. Monday nights are the more popular evenings because this is when you can get a hamburger for under $ 3.50! In the past my boss talks about how she’ll be going to meet her family at Nobscot’s for burgers because the price is so cheap. Then upon arrival she discovers her grown children’s friends also have come for the incredible dinner deal. In a way you can think of Nobscot’s like a northside«The Eagles» restaurant. You’ll find Nobscot’s located right off of Edgell Road close where it intersects with Water Street and Edmands Road. Parking at times can be tricky but most visits I’ve never had a problem finding a spot. You do not have to wait to be seated here; diners are welcome to seat themselves and within minutes waitstaff will be taking your drink orders. Whenever my family can get together for a night out and we don’t want to travel far we come here. Like most meals out my father has to spend an insane amount of time pondering, out loud, what his choice will be knowing far in advance what the menu contains. It can drive us a little crazy but that’s part of the charm about eating out with the guy. When it comes to food and service Nobscot Café is good. Menus are always full of choices ranging from beef, poultry, seafood to a few healthy options. All the variety will often leave people debating up to the last minute on their final decision. Before dinner is brought out my family is enjoying a round of sodas, small salads, bread & butter and without fail: piping hot onion rings. I enjoy the food here because it’s got that local restaurant taste. If you have eaten at places like Carbone’s(Hopkinton), J.J. McKay’s(Wayland), The Villa(Wayland), The Eagles(South Framingham) or the long gone White’s Corner(Southborough) you know exactly what I’m talking about. This is where food was prepared in a good, honest kitchen without all the fancy hype. Steaks are burgers are not given flashy names with overloaded spices. Sandwiches don’t leave diners trying to cram four inches of food into their mouth to take a single bite. And the seafood doesn’t cost an arm and leg. I think what most people forget is that places like these get back to the basics of the REAL family dining experience. You don’t have to have a fancy place, over priced meals and elaborate food presentation to sell your restaurant. Personally, I always believed that if you have a good place, serve good food and make people feel welcome that will keep bringing them back.
