Bob’s Stores

Store is always clean and well organized with a good selection. Have always had an easy time finding sale merchandise. Staff is always friendly and helpful.

I never knew it was that difficult to find a shoe till I went to this particular Bob’s store the other day. I went in on a search for some classy but not stuffy work shoes for my boyfriend. Walked to the back of the home team decorated store and found a plethora of options. I fell in love with this one pair of shoes but could only find it in brown and not black in his size. I managed to find a meandering employee and asked him if he could assist me. A deer in headlights is putting the way he looked at me nicely when I walked him over to the shoe section, clearly not his section, and asked him if they had this in black in a specific size. He looked at me blankly again, I swear I could see that gerbil trying to run at full speed inside but just couldn’t quite do it, and then looked up and around and said he would get the kid from the shoe department to help me.
After spotting the other associate who apparently worked in this department, I use the term «work» lightly, he yelled across the store to him and told him a customer, me, needed some assistance.
Now I am not suggesting by any means he should have run over to help me, but the lazy pace it took him to get over to me was just plain weird and unprofessional. When I told him what I was looking for it was as if he had never seen a shoe in his life and I thought to myself that this was now becoming a fools errand and I was the fool. He said he would go and look in the back to see what was in stock which was perfectly fine. While he was out back I looked around the shelves and found a few other pairs of shoes that seemed like they might fit the bill of what I was looking for. He came back out and said they didn’t have any in-​stock in this store but he could check in another store to see what was available. I said that would be great and he went back to the storeroom again and I waited… and waited… and waited… after 10 minutes and no return I decided I was done with this charade and picked up the other pairs I had found and walked away. I don’t know if he ever came back or just got lost when he found a shiny object to look at, but either way it was some of the worst customer service I had ever experienced.
Just a word of advice to Bob’s when hiring next time… high school students can make a great employee but you do need to actually train them!

I don’t live in Boston, so it’s hard to come across Red Sox gear in Philadelphia. Well, let me tell you, walking into Bob’s Stores in Framingham is like Christmas every day of the year for me. =) I always go with a full wallet and still come out with Benjamin’s to spare. They have a fine selection of t-​shirts, jerseys, hats, home goods, sweatshirts, and other great items featuring the Sox, Pats, Bruins, Celtics, Boston College and Boston U. They also have other teams available, but not many. GREAT clearance section! You will definitely hear Angels as you walk through the doors. =) I do…
