Came here for a quick lunch and ordered two Thai dishes. Simply put — I have had better elsewhere. Both were hot and quickly prepared but they consistently lacked the depth of flavor customary with Thai cuisine. Noodles were too soft for my liking. If in a pitch and jonesing for Thai — come here. Otherwise wait and find better in the city. No idea how their Chinese food is.

Peking Chef is a major recommendation to anyone who wants try authentic Indonesian food. Service is amazing. The grandma who served us gave us complimentary appetizers and later on dessert. Though we were full and politely said no, she would not take it for an answer and sat with us until we finished out dessert. The atmosphere felt like home with her checking on us and making sure our food was good along with anything else we may need. I loved it and will definitely go again.

Phew! No longer living close to downtown and my Chinese food options have decreased. I was afraid of what I would find in the burbs. I was super pleased to find a place that makes good food with good service. The family that I presume owns this place was very friendly and even giving freebies for ‘waiting long’; note: I didn’t notice we were waiting long for our food. The food was good, provided spice accordingly, and was made to taste real and healthy. It wasn’t covered in deep fried bread-y layers upon gelatinous flavored coverings from a can, like you can get in many icky places. This was good! The silver lining: They deliver as well! I found my new place in the burbs!

Always loved this place, tried to place a order today and they need some people skills ! I have had delivery many times and today was told I needed to spend 20 for delivery, I didn’t reach that and she was not nice was told it would take almost 2 hours. Guess they don’t need the business… sad

I’ve had carry out from here twice(both the same order, which means I should not only branch out, but that their pad thai is pretty great! For those who are wondering what spice level to get, I had both the medium and spicy. In my opinion, spicy was better! It wasn’t a burn your mouth off spicy but an enjoyable level of heat. The entire dish is great and can definitely serve as 2 meals. The service is also great, you can tell its a family owned business. The woman at the front was so nice, she even explained to me what vegetarian options they had and some of her favorites. I would definitely recommend trying Peking Chef! There is also plenty of parking and seating inside if you wish to dine in. Also, you can see the kitchen is clean and they use fresh ingredients.

This is how you run a successful business. With care, and kindess. They’re friendly and their food is delicious. Fresh tasty ingredients. The shrimp pieces were damn big and even veggies like tomato and cucumber were crisp and juicy(not bagged shite). Definite go to place. Included free dessert because they’re awesome.

Peking Palace was one of my family’s favorite Chinese restaurants for many years. We were so disappointed when they closed. When they reopened as Peking Chef, we were ecstatic that they had returned. Fortunately, the food is still just as wonderful & many menu items remain the same. My long time favorite, Three Delight Curry is the same recipe as the original restaurant, except it no longer has tempeh. Still super delicious. The standard Chinese fare is also very good. Definitely the best Chinese restaurant in the Northshore area. Peking Chef actually can make dishes spicy, much of the Chinese food you get lacks a wonderful kick. Dishes like their Sesame Chicken even packs a punch. Another of my favorites dishes is the Salt & Pepper Shrimp. The shrimp are always perfectly tender & the crust so delicate & flakey. This place is a hidden gem! Chinese, Indonesian or Thai food, this place rocks it. Don’t be deceived by the lack of dine-in patrons. The vast majority of their business is take-out orders. I counted 12 to go order being picked up during my last dine-in visit. This is a family owned & operated establishment, The entire family is really nice & very accommodating to their customers. Prices are very reasonable, you won’t find food of this quality at a better price.

Very nice and clean– the soup was good, but both of the main dishes had an msg colored hue, and had no taste. We thought the egg drop soup was good– but very unhappy with both of our main dishes(cashew chicken and beef with broccoli).

I’m very happy to support a family run restaurant that provides great service and this place couldn’t do it any better. Most of the dishes are fantastic, but love the Rendang Beef. Dishes are big enough to share so try a couple. Always appreciate the little extras that get tossed in with our large takeout orders(such as the donuts, egg rolls, or tiramisu) or in the restaurant(fried wontons/donuts).

When you don’t have countertops or a kitchen sink, this is a good go to place. Fast and friendly. Curry was nice and spicy, my request. My kids loved the fresh hot doughnuts that were in the bag. We will be back.

This is a newer, smaller restaurant replacing the long-standing Peking Palace. They have more variety than many Chinese restaurants. Indonesian and curry dishes are quite varied. I love the twice-cooked pork, while my wife likes the curries. Their Crab Rangoon is the best we have had. They use actual crab, and both the cream sauce and wrapper are very fresh. Not a fancy place, but the people there make it very enjoyable.

One slight critique: Some of the more generic Chinese items are that – generic. Their eg rolls and wontons for example, can be hit or miss. But the menu is filled with hidden gems. The lamb curry is excellent. Their version of pad Thai is quite good(but needs a bit more peanut flavor imho). The mussels in black bean sauce is also excellent. The Thai basil chicken has a nice flavor, as does the Singapore rice noodle dish. Delivery is usually prompt, with the food still fresh. Prices are very reasonable. And they are a really nice family who are great to their customers. By far the best non Japanese Asian restaurant in this part of town.

Ordered chicken and broccoli, and shrimp fried rice. Food was good and delivered in less time than promised. Portions large enough to feed two people.

After ordering another couple times, I’m liking this place even more. We always get a large takeout order, and the last time, we got a bag of free sugar donuts AND like 8 small pieces of a tiramisu-like creamy dessert. Score! The food continues to be above average for Chinese and fantastic on the Thai and Indonesian dishes. The lo mein is my favorite I’ve ever had and packed with meat and veggies, not just noodles. The rendang beef is a must order: rich and spicy, similar to Indian curry with tender stew beef and potatoes. The spicy lemongrass chicken has a wonderful light lemon flavor with lots of mixed veggies and big pieces of chicken breast. Those three dishes are our go-tos, and it’s hard to try anything else when you find things you like so much! We’ve always ordered from the older lady who works there, and she’s very nice. She always asks how hot you’d like your dishes, and repeats the order back to you to make sure she got it right on the phone. Very nice customer service.

Unfortunately i cant rate this place more than a 3 So if you go for lunch you would not be able to find any lunch menus items that are Indonesian but this place is rated as an Indonesian restaurant. I would recommend sticking to the Indonesian Chinese menu items. I did a mistake by ordering Thai food which they are not specialized in. Stay away from Thai food ! We tried the following; nasi goreng– although not authentic can be rated. 5(plus points) Beef fried rice– was a safe bet as the kids order Thai green curry– if you are a health fanatic you would love it as they have so much green beans and broccoli which was very fresh. The dish overall is great but not as flavorful as the actual thai green curry(minus points) I may return to try out some of their other Indonesian items. However, nothing stood out for me to make an extra effort to return The staff is friendly the ambiance a mere 2 – 3 rating . Although i am rating my experience lower i would still encourage Others to go and try this place. Try some of their authentic dishes try something different

What happened!!! Ordered the Kung Bao Beef with Peanuts and it was completely flavorless, strangely so. You could vaguely taste the dried chilies, but not the peanuts. Salt and Pepper Shrimp was under seasoned and over breaded. Wayyyyy… under seasoned and over breaded. Broccoli Chicken was also blah, although it typically isn’t the star of the show and was fine for our 7 year old. Spicy Lemon Grass Chicken was the best of the bunch, but I’m afraid it was a comparison thing. I gotta say we were pretty disappointed. (The delievery guy is adorable tho’)

I dined here last week with my friend, Nis Z. She beat me to reviewing it on Unilocal and her review pretty much nailed our experience. I will add that I loved everything we had. Although I don’t think I really had a favorite dish. I thought each dish had a stand out feature which leveled the playing field for me. In the Beef Rendang it was the curry. In the Ayam Goreng Mentega, it was the contrast of the Indonesian Soy Sauce with the cool cucumber slices, and in the Kweetiau Goreng it was the rice noodles. If and when you visit, I recommend that you NOT play if safe. Go for the Indonesian dishes that you’ve probably not had before to experience flavors that you won’t find on the Chinese portion of the menu and some combinations of ingredients that may not find on the Thai portion of the menu. Be adventurous. You won’t be disappointed.
