We went there for Father’s Day. The service was slow and food not even average. Very disappointed. The waffles were thin and hard and all of our potatoes were cold. The only thing decent was the cinnamon roll.

we always come here on our day off to enjoy the most delicious breakfast. ever since we ordered the hobo omelet with bacon and cheese added, we have been coming to Mel’s as a brunch tradition. the waitress puts the order in before we even sit down, and we timed it this time. it came out 4 mins after we walked through the front door. they treat you like home. the service is seriously unbeatable. they refill your water and coffee immediately and make sure everything is good several times. I am truly surprised this place only has 4 stars because everything is 10⁄10. the food, the service, and the general vibe.

Had breakfast here with my best friend and rather enjoyed the food. Nothing really stood out aside from the service. Everyone was so friendly and looked like they enjoyed working there, I love that in any restaurant. Food itself was average but they give you rather large portions. Everything was cooked well and the food came out quite fast. The price was decent but tbh I didn’t like that it was cash only… I can’t really imagine myself craving this place and wanting to come back but would for a quick breakfast or to have a place to chat with friends. We definitely overstayed our breakfast time but no one rushed is or made us feel like we should go. :)

Man what can I say. Fresh made to order country diner style food. Biscuits and gravy were the highlight for me. Also had the French Toast plate. Couldn’t be happier. Only gripes are that it’s cash only and only open 7am-2pm. Cinnamon rolls are made fresh in house. Best bet is to get in before 10 because they usually run out early!

Great Family Owned Restaurant! Been going to Mel’s for almost 27 years. I moved away about 9 years ago, but will still make the drive to meet my parents or just enjoy with my husband. Here are some of my fave’s: homemade cinnamon rolls(come early or they sell out!), chorizo & eggs, machaca, all of their melts, chili size & all of their soups(these change daily, but you can’t go wrong). My brother & hubby really like their biscuits & gravy, as well. Coffee is always fresh & taste perfect! Everyone is always friendly(same staff/family for 27 years) & bring your cash(cash only). Enjoy!

I read the review on Mel’s eggs benedict and found it to be just ok. The Waterfront Restaurant in Garden Grove has a better one in that price range. I guess its subjective to ones taste. I have been going to Mel’s for breakfast for 10 years and it is a very good place to eat. Hours are limited but the service and food are consistently good. Randy and Kim

Come on guys… What’s with the bad reviews??? The ladies that run the place are too sweet, I think they’ve both been there for like 10 – 20 years or something. Everything tastes homemade, they’re so fast and always good vibes. Last time we walked in and before we had our order placed the chef had already sent over Mickey Mouse pancakes for my kiddos at no charge… And to top it off whenever we ask to order something(prob happened at least 5x) they’ll say well why don’t u order this cuz it’s cheaper and I’ll just put that on the side… Does it get any better than that? No ma’am! We’ll be life long customers!

Checked this place out because the good reviews. Service was great as well as the cinnamon roll which they let you substitute for toast. However my omelette came out looking like some weird egg scramble. I thought about sending it back since they charge like $ 12 for it but ate it regardless. I should have taken a picture my bad. I’ll return but definitely won’t be ordering any omelettes.

Definitely has a country homestyle breakfast vibe. Like a diner you would stop at if you’re on a road trip. Food is pretty good, servers are attentive. A little more on the heavy side for breakfast for me. A good place to go to if you really appreciate breakfast food.

Sunday breakfast… You need to go to Mel’s Diner. Make sure you have cash!!! No cards are accepted and I like it that way — real mom and pop, delicious home cooked food. Quick service and recommend all the omelettes. Not for the lactose intolerant — lots of delicious melted cheese!

Service is great! Food came out relatively quick. Keep in mind this place accepts cash only! As shown in the photo I got the eggs benedict with home fries. Very good! Next time I’m going to try their biscuits and gravy since that’s one of my favorite breakfasts in the world. I will be back and report that out come as well. If you’re looking for home style cooking this is probably one of the better diners in the area. I’ve lived here the majority of my life and it’s difficult to find a true home cooked meal There were quite a few people here this morning for breakfast which is a good sign although its location is somewhat hidden if you don’t have your eyes wide open. My advice to you would be give it a try and I think you will like it…

Food was great. Service was fast. Milk was $ 3. A little high for a small. Only one waitress who was on the move constantly. Had the country combo!!!

Ok… The owner /waitress doesn’t care about customer service. The food was«ok» nothing spectacular. Would I return !?? No unless I ran out of gas in that area and was hungry. Missed the grade

Pretty solid little diner… been here twice now and both times it was very good… service is on point and friendly… it is in a little shopping center behind the del taco which makes it hard to see but it is worth a stop in for breakfast… We had and love the biscuits and gravy… I’m in love with their pancakes… nothing spectacular but just really good flavor and fluffiness… Come in and try your local diner… =)
