Who ever complained that borek is too greasy, never tried burek in any Balkan country! Ikram bakery serves some of the best pastry I ever had in States; simits, pastry filled with Feta, or olives. Sweets are excellent, and their friendly service, with always fresh food, made this my favorite snacking place!

Remarkable desserts, and the sandwiches are very good, too. It has been a very long time since I’ve had baklava and kadayife this fresh and good – probably since my trip to Turkey(though years ago there used to be a family Turkish restaurant on Beach Boulevard that served fresh deserts that I still miss; these are just as good, so what a discovery!). I recommend sampling both the baklava and the kadayife, trying the pistachio and walnut variations of each, and then coming back for the superb and traditional rice pudding, called sutlac. And make a lunch or affordable dinner out of it by combining desert with one of the sandwiches, which are moist and flavorful, better than similar options in the OC. A real discovery, this place! Just off the 405, too, for those traveling between LA and destinations south and looking for a quick, affordable, and remarkably tasty meal.

I sometimes raise a Spock-like eyebrow when I see the word«authentic» thrown out on Unilocal.Unless you have«been there» a whole lot, or your family has deep roots«from there,» or you’ve had culinary training«from there,» should you be acting like you know how they eat there? Should I, a lumpia and SPAM loving man of Filipino-Hawaiian descent, be declaring I «know» authentic Vegan-Hillbilly-Soul Food? That’s like a member of the KKK Unilocaling they knows authentic Thai food. Let’s keep it real folks. That being said, Ikram Bakery and Deli is serving up some darn authentic Turkish Mediterranean food! This was a wonderful surprise gem of a find on a recent trip to LA. Not too far off the 405N, this is a great stop to fuel your belly. The portions are generous and the service is friendly with a radiant smile. As for the food, I can’t claim I know authentic Turkish food. The closest I’ve been to turkey is Thanksgiving. I do know that the whole fam bam liked their meals. I had the beef shawarma sandwich. Abundantly flavorful. Customize what veggies you want wrapped with it. Frankly just tell the lady«hit me» which is what I did. Put all the sauces. Cucumber sauce. Tahini. Shawarma. Hot sauce. Doubt count the calories just enjoy. We also ordered a chicken kabob. Juicy chunks of flavorful chicken.(Give yourself some time for this one because it is skewered and cooked to order). My kids split a beef and chicken shawarma plate. Came with a fresh salad and a giant pita. The plate is pretty good sized. All the meats were a hit. There is a Unilocal check-in for a slice of baklava. We of course ordered three more pieces so we could all share the love. A perfect auth– oops – awesome topper to the meal. Reminds me of growing up on the streets of Ankara.

This is a great place to eat quality Turkish food! There chicken kabob is very good and I personally love the rice and bread that ikram makes! This is a must go restaurant for anyone who wants Turkish food.(this comes from a Turkish person).

One of the best sandwiches I have had. All the veggies and sauces are fresh and either meat is amazing. The bread is made every day and might be the best part. The owners are great people, I couldn’t recommend this place more.

Great service and the food fresh and the combination of spices is excellent on their shawarma wraps

Not perfect or «fine dining», but better than just«very good» The place is a hidden gem in a strip mall. Décor is nice and authentic enough to create a great atmosphere. The food and tea are great — a feast to remember. Service was kind and efficient.

Their chicken wrap is flavorful. The chicken is moist, has a delicious flavor, and a kick of spice to it – almost Hot Cheetos level. The wrap gets grilled a bit so the pita is warm and soft. Not too soft; still flaky and can break easily. That white sauce adds a nice touch as well. The free check-in walnut baklava is addictive. It’s not too flaky to fall all over the place, but enough to have that crunch. Not overly sweet is a plus.

Sometimes they forget to give you the bread and the dessert with your check in so you always have to double check their work which can get annoying. Make sure you check that you have all your dips, desserts, bread, etc. The food is ok

I would give them 5 stars because their food is good, but just the fact that my experience was somewhat ruined by a lady that works there makes me take off a star. At first the one taking customers’ orders was a young woman and she became a little busy trying to make all the orders and asks the person I was with his order and quickly walks away to get the fries he wanted in the fryer. I waited patiently for my order to be taken. This other lady from the back of the kitchen walks over and asks me my order. I tell her what I wanted and she asks if we were paying together and I said yes. This is where she starts telling me off. She started complaining to me how I didn’t say in the first place that me and him were paying together and that’s how they know how many to make??? First of all, that’s completely rude! Secondly, yea I’ll slightly be okay with your complaining if your store was completely packed but there was only a couple behind us and nobody else! Thirdly, she didn’t even realize how wrongly she was acting towards me – a paying customer and in front of other customers. She kept giving me attitude and didn’t even ask me what I wanted in my combo plate. She just dumped a bunch of rice and I had to ask the young lady worker if I could have the hummus that’s suppose to come with my plate… Just completely rude. She was rude to other customers who had already ordered food and went over to the cash register, and began telling them that they had to order food at the front counter. They don’t have a soda machine btw. If you ask for cups of water they have to get it from somewhere in the back and it’s not even cold –_–

Killer sandwiches; something any sandwich lover should try. The doner/shwarma is rocking, but their add-ons, the pickles, herbed onions, fresh sliced cucumbers, tahini, hot sauce, et al – it’s all fabulous. If I was within 3 miles of this place and needed a quick feed, I’d take the detour to get there. When you measure this place side-by-side with the best gyro sandwiches in the area, you’ll find it’s in your top 5. I tried to eat at every last joint 4 or 5 years ago and I think I have a good sense of it: I rate Ikram as #1 with the sandwich at Wholesome Choice(Irvine) a micro-skosh below, and Sahara Falafel a nano-skosh beneath that. But seriously, if I was blind-testing them I’m sure I could put any of them at number one on any given day. Unlike Sahara, both Ikram and Wholesome Choice let you *see* and pick from what you might want on your invention today. The bread, as is frequently the case with a killer sandwich, is made on site at Ikram. Just go try it and be delighted. It’s also the bread which gets Ikram to the hallowed #1 slot. The music is Turkish, which I also appreciate.

I ordered the beef shawarma plate and the chicken shawarma plate also some baklava and rice pudding. The shawarma plates were excellent the sauce they put on top was delicious«I was a little leery about the sauce» but happy to say it was fantastic. Different from other shawarma we have eaten but delicious. I will ask for more pickled vegetables with my next dinner. The individuals that work here are very friendly and helpful if your not sure what sauces to pick etc. Very friendly, when we ordered the beef shawarma the owner said it’s rather late«which we barely slid in at closing time» he said he thinks it will be to dry to eat but I had heard such good things about there food from family members that I ordered one beef plate and two chicken plates for all of us to try. Even if it was dry to them it was delicious to us. I was expressed that he was forth right in saying we might not want to order that at that time. I love honest people! We also purchased baklava, I have had baklava from many different places, bakeries, markets, gifts etc. even some flown over from the top bakeries in Egypt. The baklava from here is the best I have ever eaten! The rice pudding was good, but the baklava is off the chart!

Ikram is your mediterranean style subway. You have choices of either chicken or beef. There’s falafel for the veggie eaters. Of course, no ranch and stuff here, but you have hummus, mayo, sambal, tzatziki and maybe another one or two. Veggie options are less than subway, but they have what you need. For myself, i prefer this place over subway and their cold cuts, chicken, meatballs, and whatever else. The chicken and beef are rotated on a spit. There’s a round bread for those that want bread/sandwich and also wrap. The portion is a decent size for lunch. I was able to finish it and be full. I would definitely come here for a quick lunch. Plus, free bakalava w Unilocal check in for the win.

Located in Fountain valley, the Ikram bakery and grill is a small unassuming Turkish restaurant that sits in a small strip mall. I’ve been to shawarma places before and never really had a good one outside of Turkey, so I wasn’t expecting anything amazing. I happened to be next door and thought I’d give this place a try. I decided to take a chance on the chicken shawarma plate. WOW, I can’t tell you how good it was! Not sure if I was starving or what, but it really was delicious. Because it’s family owned and operated, you can tell they do care about what they’re serving. Plates area carefully put together and made fresh to order. I had to wait a little longer for the chicken kabob because it was freshly grilled but no problemo. It’s well worth the wait. Oh yea, I also tried the baklava. You get a free one when you check in with Unilocal. What can I say… I’m Greek so I know my Baklava. This baklava was out of this world. Seriously delicious.

I really wanted to like this place, but it left me wanting more. Ever since I’ve come back from Istanbul, I’ve had cravings for kebab, shawarma, pide, and just anything I had in Istanbul(snob, sorry). The boyfriend and I were searching for food around his place and I suggested Ikram. We got there and there were a few people sitting down eating and a family in front of us. Their wraps looked good and stuffed to the brim, but we both decided to share a combination plate. In Unilocal fashion, I also checked in to get my free baklava. It looked bomb when we got our food, but the meat was a little dry for both our liking. My boyfriend had the audacity to say he liked Halal Guys better(which imo, not the best either, but our opinions). Prices were decent too and we did ask if they were selling pide and they told us no. They also ran out of Turkish tea when we went. Oh well. TLDR: Meats are a little dry, but their wraps looked good. I’m gonna have to pass on this one and try other surrounding places like Mr. Kebab or Istanbul Grill. Prices were decent here and you get huge portions; good for a quick weekday lunch perhaps.

This place never disappoints! Definitely a fan! :) I have ordered online twice from this bakery for lunch to take it back to the office to eat. Both times I got the doner(shawarma) chicken sandwich. Sometimes when you order your food to go, your food doesn’t taste as good as when you eat it there hot and fresh but their food is still pretty good after taking it home. The bread doesn’t get soggy so that’s a plus for me! I haven’t had time to come here to do a dine in but I would like to go one day. The doner(shawarma) chicken sandwich is bomb every time. I just can’t get myself to try other things.

If at all interested in this cuisine, try it. So nice to be surprised by a great little place with food made with care and love. It’s on our lunch list for sure. We all had the #3 combo. Meat was very good. The salad was super good. The pita was very good too. I am still stuffed!
