Wow! What a Great little local Gem! Love this place! We’ve been here now 5 times for dinner and each time gets better then the last. Tonight my wife had the Chicken Marsala and I had the cheese tortellini with bolognese. Wow! Awesome! Great flavor! Plus the Resturant is nice and authentic meaning great décor and music. Couldn’t ask for a more delicious authentic Italian meal for such a reasonable price! Spumoni and tiramisu to finish the meal. So much we couldn’t finish and so yum! Great job! Thank you Cucina Sophia for another great dining experience! We will be back!

We were so excited to come try this majestic Italian restaurant serving gluten free pasta, only to be turned away because of a «private party» going on while business hours are still going on. Understandable, yet extremely disappointing(especially when you are starving!).

Love this place and can’t understand why more don’t come. See the Owner Henry brother of Mona Lisa restaurant. Food is prepared traditional Italian style and he prides himself from not varying his Italian format. Easy walk if your in the area. Support your local business. The city is not allowing them to have lights outside and it kills his business.

I am so glad we chose to come here for dinner on the last night I am in town before making a trip back home to Hawaii. We had such a delicious dinner. I can’t stop thinking about the margarita pizza my boyfriend ordered. A simple pizza BURSTINGWITHFLAVORS! There is a party in my mouth with every bite I took!!!

Best chicken parmigiana I’ve ever had! They bake it so the chicken is flavorful and moist and the breaded crust is crispy but not overdone. Also, their smoked salmon pasta is a light blend of Alfredo with perfectly cooked smoked salmon and pasta, light yet full of flavor. The bread, the salad and homemade dressing are amazing as well!

We live in the area, driven by Cucina Sophia for years, never went inside but been bugging husband to take me. Came home from work, and was starving. Husband said, «Let’s go buy food.» So, we went to Cucina Sophia for dinner. Menu is written in Italian with English descriptions of what you’re ordering. Prices are pricey. No way were we purchasing to-go food for our kids(they got Subway). Husband ordered a lamb dish, served over rice and some sort of tomato sauce. I have no idea what it was called, pretty sure he forgot the name, too. I ordered Spinach raviolis, which came with a side salad, something called Ensalata de Casa??? It came with a homemade Italian dressing. I AM vegan, and I’m pretty sure my raviolis were not. I picked the visible, thinly sliced parmesan off my raviolis, as I knew what it was. The raviolis were very good… again, still feeling the guilt of eating them because I’m pretty sure the insides had some sort of cheesy thing in it, mixed in with my spinach. Please don’t tell me, I don’t want to know. But, since I had been bugging my husband to take me there, and it was pricey, I didn’t want to send my plate back. It was flavorful. The waitress, no idea what her name was, she was very friendly, came to our table a few times to check on us, gave us fresh grated pepper to use instead of the shakers on the table, and helped us pronounce some of the foods we were ordering. Although, I most likely will not be coming back due to my strict vegetarian diet, I will recommend this place. I’m saddened to see that they had a few 1 and 2 star reviews… I can’t compare it to anything else, though because the only«Italian» restaurants I’ve ever eaten at were pizza parlours and you know that’s totally American. So, for what it’s worth… without being able to compare it to Italy, or someone’s Italian grandma’s home cooking, this was pretty decent… husband and I both enjoyed it.

What a nice little gem of a place. The owner Henry was so nice and helpful I will totally be back like in the next few days! I was craving Italian food and decided to trust my fellow Unilocalers. Walking in I was immediately seated and brought fresh baked bread with oil and vinegar. I ordered the beef carpaccio with baby arugula which was outstanding! Next was the Arincino rice balls and then the chicken farfalle which is in the top 10 of best pastas I’ve ever had! When you try this place out you will not be disappointed!

What a wonderful find! The food is very good, but with a little tweaking, it could be great. They’re on the right track. Portions are not huge, buy not small, which is wonderful, but the prices are nuts. I really hate having to tell restauranteurs to RAISE their prices. Don’t understand how they can put out anything of quality for what they charge, but they are. Prices can’t last for too long, so get there as soon as you can. Service is the best. Everybody that works there is genuinely happy to be there and that makes their guests happy as well. There are some really incredible older vintages on the wine list for less than half of what you’d pay retail. 1990 Dunn Cabernet for $ 90.00 is just plain stupid! Probably should have bought it and sold it for double, but they are doing such a great job, couldn’t do it to them. Small list, but some wonderful choices and prices are unbelievable. $ 5.00 for a terrific unknown Italian red, and a 6 oz pour to boot, is like going back to the 90s. This is the kind of restaurant you really want to succeed and I hope it does. Don’t live that close, but will be coming back.

So, I’ve decided to update this because my check-in isn’t visible to all. Our family had been passing by Cucina Sophia for over a year. Finally, we decided to stop and, BOY, were we pleasantly surprised! The staff was super friendly, the décor and atmosphere was warm and inviting. The food was even better. Let’s not confuse this — I used to LIVE in Italy. I know what authentic Italian food is and this was far better than a lot of competitors. My waitress didn’t speak Italian, but thats ok — we live in Southern Cali. Two words: Authentic Italian Thats it! Go try it — you won’t be disappointed. I honestly do not understand any of the 1 or 2 star reviews. — original review — I pretty much said it all in my checkin! The food was amazingly authentic and«Buono!» Very good job!

3.65 stars Great service! Tons of parking. Pricy. Focacia bread: free, warm w great texture to it, it was yummy w balsamic sauce. The olive oil has a weird smell so I didn’t try. Linguine seafood w white wine garlic sauce: was good but a bit bland. The noodle was cooked to perfection. Spinach ravioli: decent, too creamy & lack of spinach. Chilean sea bass: decent, but too creamy & fishy and easy too expensive. Not worth $ 30 period. Nero dvola wine: was good, dry, earthy & med Panna cotta: was tasty, but too rich, creamy, thick texture Tiramisu: decent, creamy, little bland, –it’s still missing a flavor

I will take EVOO, even VOO, but you can keep your ROO. We ended up here because Mona Lisa was packed and there was a long wait. Unilocal reviews were positive so we gave it a try. You know how many Italian restaurants have olive oil and balsamic vineagar on the table. Well… I wish Cucina Sophia didn’t. We both poured some olive oil and balsamic vineagar on the dish and dipped our bread into it. Upon taking a bite out of the bread we looked at each other and said rancid olive oil(ROO). Absolutely disgusting and you call into question the food coming from the kitchen. Well…needless to say we will never be going back to «Cochino Sophia» and opt to wait in the line at Mona Lisa. Sorry guys…

I’ll admit, I’ve driven past Cucina Sophia many times and only recently dined there for the first time. I will definitely be returning. The interior is small and modest, but decorated in an Italian theme. It does get loud because of the small size. Because the restaurant is so small, you receive a very personal experience. Henry the chef/owner not only greeted us but also came to the table after we were served to see how we enjoyed our meal. Because it was my first time dining here, I went with Spaghetti Bolognese which I use as a comparison to other Italian restaurants. I really enjoyed the flavor of the meat sauce. As you can see from the photo, they are generous with the sauce. I even finished it off with my spoon at the end. My dad ordered the Limone e Pepe di Pasta. It is noted that this is one of chef Henry’s signature dishes made with chicken, mushrooms and broccoli sautéed in a lemon/peper cream sauce. This was too garlicky for my taste but my dad really enjoyed it. All pasta dishes are served with a soup of the day or house salad. My choice was the Zuppa di Vongole, clam soup. The broth was so aromatic and flavorful, perfect for dipping their house made bread. I wish the Caesar Salad was available as the complimentary salad with the pasta, even at a small up-charge of $ 2 – 3. Our waitress Emily had such a kind disposition and while she was the only waitress, she attended to each table with ease. She even sang a beautiful song for us at the request of a customer. Cucina Sophia is a passionate neighborhood Italian restaurant that is sure to provide a family experience. Tuesday nights, pasta dishes are buy one get one half off.

I’ve driven by so many times and finally decided to have dinner there! The hostess/waitress was super sweet and attentive. I had the Chicken Parm(which I highly recommend) and my mom ordered the Chicken Marsala — they were both delish! We will definitely be going back again :)

My favorite Italian restaurant around! Went here with the Mayor of Fountain Valley himself the first time and it was excellent!!! Took myself and the mayor’s son here the 2nd time and it was even better. It’s an authentic Italian restaurant. The service is great, everyone is beyond friendly and they’re very happy to serve the guests. The portions will definitely fill you up & the prices are reasonable. It takes awhile for the food to come out because everything is made to order(I can tell). What I really like about this place is that the chef comes out and talks to his guests. We got the carbonara pizza, spaghetti carbonara, fried calamari, & tiramisu for dessert. I was really sad when they told me the panna cotta wasn’t ready… Anyway, the tiramisu melts in your mouth and is to die for(crying). Soup, salad, and the poppy seed rolls with olive oil are amazing. There is prosciutto on the pizza and the subtle garlic crust is like no other. The spaghetti carbonara is authentic and you can see the beaten eggs cook itself on the hot pasta as you eat. Overall, it’s a nice, quiet Italian restaurant to bring your family and loved ones here. I’m blessed to be literally 0.1 miles away from this lovely place! Definitely coming back.
