I love the brisket. Smoked perfect and still juicy and the vanilla buttermilk pecan pie was poetry and almost made me hurt myself. I went right in and got another. I like the place. It may not be the best location wise, but it’s in my top ten. Keep up the good work guys.

OK. I am from Minnesota, so despite loving BBQ, my pallette is used to the stuff I can get up there. Holy cow. The ribs were perfect. The pulled pork was literally melt in your mouth. So good. I would eat here every day if I only lived here.

Wow! I know I live in Texas but wow — this place is amazing. The staff saw we weren’t from around here and they gave us free homemade cake! They are wonderful. The BBQ is to die for — the RIBS especially are amazing. Fall off the bone. And they give you all you can eat BBQ sauce from the sides bar which is also amazing. I hope we’re in this part of Texas again!

Best barbecue I’ve ever had. If you don’t get the buttermilk pecan pie you have done it wrong.

This place is not bad, but not great. We were craving BBQ and even though nothing was nasty, it wasn’t «wowing» and we are still having that craving!

Excellent service and even better food. I visited this restaurant for the first time today with a friend from out of town who wanted to try real Texas bbq. Smokeys didn’t disappoint. The guys at the counter were very patient with us while we took our time to look over the menu. And other customers even chimed in to help us order. We felt like family in there. The portions were plentiful and the sides bar was an great touch. I will be back for my bbq fix.

I re-visited this east side restaurant. I ordered a Barbecue sandwich and fries to go. The wait time was uncomfortable, the staff saying that the fries were being made freshly. After getting my order I drove the few minutes to my house and sat to eat my meal. Well… some improvement from my last trial. The sandwich was excellent. I liked the grilled bun and the sauce was real nice, The brisket was perfectly smoked and the taste was wonderful. The fries were barely edible. The potatoes had a very stale taste covered with heavy seasoned salt. This is the same complaint I had last time. I don’t know if I’ ll return to this place. Other BBQ joints nearby have great cue and much better sides.

First off, I live in Plano. I can throw a rock and hit at least 3 bbq joints around me. That being said, when I want bbq ribs and juicy brisket, I make the drive down to Fort Worth and treat myself to Smokeys. This place is not fancy. They do bbq and do it well. You go to the counter and order. The menu is self explanatory. If you want your brisket lean, just let the guys behind the counter know. Rosco and Paul will accommodate you. The ribs are freaking amazing. The sausage is a little spicy, but damn worth it. The sandwich buns were warm and oh so soft. The sides are at a help yourself station. And I did help myself twice to the beans! Finally the desserts. I have had their buttermilk pie and it is really good. Keep in mind that they do sell out of meat and they may have to close early. That sucks but once you taste the food, you will understand why. I call ahead before I make the 45 minute drive out there. I’ve had them cater two events for me and both times everything was done well and most importantly On Time. Again, nothing fancy, just damn good bbq!
My wife and I’s favorite BBQ in Fort Worth. Their sides and home made pies are really good, which is rare for a BBQ place, but their meats all range from good to spectacular. They also make their own buns, and this leads to some incredible sandwiches. The ribs are huge, St. Louis cut. The glaze and rub are a bit sweeter than I prefer, but a little bit of the spicy sauce balances it out. Brisket is good, but my favorite is the smoked turkey. They sell out of it pretty quickly, but it’s incredible. You can also BYOB, which is always nice. Definitely give this place a try. It’s one of Fort Worth’s hidden gems.

I love this place! The chicken sandwich plate is my favorite. Comes with two sides. You get to serve yourself the sides you want! Excellent condiments and extra BBQ sauce to top it all off. So worth the trip. Nice friendly employees too. You must go!

To start off, I want to say the service was extremely friendly, so it’s disappointing to not be able to give a higher rating. We got ribs and a chopped beef sandwich with fries. The fries were really good. Now the meat — the sandwich was SO greasy. I could only eat half and instantly felt like I needed to wash my hands and face. I saved the other half, and when I went back to eat the rest, my bun was completely wet/soggy from all of the grease. If there was any seasoning on the meat, it was masked by all of the oil and grease. The ribs were HUGE and a good value for the price. These were also pretty greasy, but not near as bad as the beef. Overall, I’m not sure I would return.

Our first visit. counter workers are super nice. We got here after work and they were out of ribs. Bummed until I bit into a pulled pork sandwich then it was back to happy! Did the 2 meat and grabbed some sausage too. It was yummy as well, and so was the sweet slaw amd potato salad. Starting on the cherry dessert and I have to stop writing because it’s so good. Great place and we will be back again. Kids said the beans are good and the peppery bbq sauce is a hit.

Stopped in at Smokey’s for a late afternoon snack after seeing a number of good reviews. Nothing fancy or elegant here; if that is what you want… just keep driving. Order at the counter. Sandwiches, plates and meat by the pound are the primary ways to get your food fix. Meat choices are brisket, chicken, turkey ribs, sausage, and pork. The pork is ONLY available on Thursday and Friday. I went with the combo 1 meat and 2 veggies at a cost of $ 9.69. Meat was sliced brisket. The veggies… except the fries are actually kept at a station that you help yourself to. Plate also includes bread. I chose chuck wagon beans(pintos) and coleslaw as my two sides. Coleslaw was not my favorite and the beans were okay. Brisket was peppery and the portion was decent. Brisket would have been much better if it had been warm and not at room temperature. Dessert was vanilla buttermilk pie… tasty. Even better is when you check in with Unilocal at the restaurant, you get a slice of pie free. Can’t beat that with a stick.

Everyone I bring loves it! To add to my review: Been bringing people I work with and family here for a long while now. They all fall in love. They even catered my daughters 1st birthday. Everyone there was asking, «where is this place again? I’ve never heard of it. It’s so good. I love it.» And our family eats BBQ. Bottom Line: Everyone I’ve brought loves it. The catering they did for us was simple and easy and LOVED. Ignore the haters, some people are just bitter, and give them a shot.

I hadn’t been to Smokeys’ since the new owners had taken over. I was in a hurry so I went through the drive through. I ordered a hot link sandwich, a side of potato salad and classic chips. I must say I was very surprised at the sandwich, it was very good and what a treat to have the meat served on a homemade toasted bun. Yes, I said a homemade toasted bun. As I was sitting in the drive though the meat carving station is in full view. There was a huge tray of homemade buns on a full commercial baking sheet. The tops were glistening and a beautiful brown color. When I bit into the sandwich bun, I was in heaven. I’m tempted to come back and just get a toasted bun and a side of BBQ sauce for dipping. One strange thing that hit me was the way the links ad been sliced. They were sliced in spears instead of slices. They were a little bit tough to eat that way but the links were very juicy and spicy. Smokeys’ homemade potato salad was very tasty and I’d definitely order it again. Overall it as a very good lunch for under $ 10.

Sadly, whatever this place once was to earn high ratings. it is no more my BBQ fans. The standards in DFW have been raised by great places like Lockhart Smokehouse, Pecan Lodge, & Hutchins BBQ. I stopped I here for lunch and was a bit concerned that it was noon and I didn’t see a single car nor anyone inside that wasn’t an employee. No line usually is a warning sign and in this case I should have taken that warning to heart. Still, I gave it a chance and went in. There was a new person being trained at the counter taking orders. After a while, I received my 4 meat plate and sat down. P. S. Smokeys: There are only 4 meats on the menu. Unless there are other meats not displayed, why do you bother asking which meats I want when I order the 4 meat plate? I suppose maybe some people order doubles? I dunno… just seemed like a strange question. I wasn’t told how it works, but you only get the meat and bread at the counter along with a glass for your drink. The sides and actual drink are self serve. Ice machine was out of order, but there is a bin of ice next to the machine with a scoop next to the bin. First thing I notice was the way the sausage was sliced. Not coins, or halves, or whole. They were slivers… like French fries. That was a first and I must say I prefer whole or coins… so make sure you specify how to slice it if you have a preference. Sausage tasted ok, but nothing memorable. Turkey was cut into coins and it was dry. Brisket a little dry and lacked bark and flavor. Some pieces were ok, most were not. Inconsistent right on the plate… not a good sign for brisket lovers. The ribs were big untrimmed spares. They were actually pretty good. Cooked to a nice consistency where not quite fall off the bone but moist and tender still. Good bite! I would stick to ribs if I would ever eat here again. The grilled piece of toast was a nice touch… yum! Sides, no thanks! The beans had giant chunks of day old brisket in it. So terribly dry that the bean juice couldn’t save it! The potato salad had to be store bought. It was pretty much potato mush with mustard… yuck! The last item was the free piece of pie I got for my check in. That was good too. I’m glad they offer a freebie. It has potential, but just not there guys. Fix your sides! Find something else to do with left over brisket… you’re killing the beans. Find another source for potato salad if you’re going to buy it. That brand sucks whatever it is. Good luck!

First time eating at Smokey’s. Ribs were meaty and tender. Brisket moisture was perfect and tender. Sausage had just the right amount of spice. Beans were cooked perfect and had a lot of meat mixed in. It was a great lunch I will be back!

Everything we had was great. Is it the best BBQ ever? No but it’s the best we’ve had in the Ft Worth area so far. Chicken was juicy and had great flavor. Ribs were fall off the bone. Sliced brisket was done very well. The sausage was really awesome. All the sides were really good as well. I normally don’t like other people’s potatoe salad and this one was as good as home! Also had the lemon, orange, and chocolate pecan pies. All very rich and delicious. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The owner was behind the counter and very nice as well. Clean! Everything was clean… even the bathrooms! We will come back.
