This location has completely changed my opinion of Luby’s. Management is amazing, staff is up beat, and the food is hot and delicious! Thank you !!!

I recently made my last trip to Luby’s. The food was one issue after another but every now and then I go there for Liver and onions and this time I guess the new recipe now calls for it to be covered in sugar maybe because I asked for it to be fresh as to the dried up knots they wanted me to take. I ask for a roll and the server gave me a roll so hard I would have needed a dentist immediately if i took a bite. but looking back I guess it is easier to pick up with the tongs if it is hard as a rock. The dessert was disgusting and I normally do not expect it to be 5 star after all it is Luby’s but seriously this location the food was horrible. It gets worse there was a table of approximately 5 adults and 7 children. the 7 children were ages of 3 – 5 and were running screaming throughout the restaurant for literally over 20 minutes yes I promise you I timed it fuming all the while. They were running and screaming and running and screaming nearly tripping several servers, several guest, asking for balloon after balloon over and over as least at chuck e cheese I know what to expect and this was way more out of control than that. I asked for a Manager to see if anything could be done and he said no that it was either have the 3 of us upset or the 5 of them. I mentioned this had to be a liability issues as if one of the kids gets hurt from running falling going into the kitchen the parents would take it out on Luby’s Crazy behavior. Oh and did I mention for 3 adults it was $ 55… are you kidding me. I promise I will not under any circumstances ever put myself in that position again. there are just too many other choices.

Food was delicious. I was the youngest person eating there but I don’t care. It’s a bit pricey though. If your on a budget I wouldn’t recommend this I got a Luann with a drink and it was like 12.00

It’s been forever and a day since I’ve been to a Lubys. I used to go here back in the mid to late 90’s when I was shy of 10 or so. I used to love it and it had been a tradition back then. Well I’ve mentioned it a few times to my wife recently and she flat refused to go; well now she’s on a trip for two weeks so I decided to give it a try this Sunday. First off I did feel a little out of place since the great majority of people were around the age of 70, however I’m a bit of an old soul so I didn’t mind. This place looks almost exactly like it used to back in the 90’s. The place was packed so it actually took about 20 minutes just to get through the line, which makes the perk of the food already being ready mute. Never the less I grabbed my food including the old favorite fried fish rectangle(feels weird to say I wanted that in todays time). Check out price for my small salad, fish and two sides, roll, and a tea was $ 13.50. WOW, pretty pricey for cafeteria style food. I sat down to an oddly sticky table, however it was almost like the table had worn to a stickiness if that makes since as I didn’t actually see food or anything on it. The tray I used to haul my food, was old, worn with the corners chipped exposing rusted metal on all four corners. Eating brought back memories, it was like a flash back in time. The food was pretty tasty, the fish square was actually really good. The wait staff, which I don’t really see the need for, were nice. About 5 minutes after I left Lubys I had to pull over at Homedepot and literally RUN into the restroom. Now I work in the medical community and understand that it might not have been the food I had just eaten, but then again it might have. So I simply state this as a note and don’t actually rate my review on it. In the end I found the Luby’s to be a quite dated chain in an environment of quick options like Chipotle. However I wouldn’t mind the change and calm this environment offers if the prices weren’t so high. Saying that, I won’t be back.

It is horrible to know that lubys charges so much money to eat there! How do they expect seniors on fixed incomes to eat there? My friend & I went during the senior lunch time and got the Luanne lunch and tea and it was $ 30.00! I was appalled! We could have eaten at olive garden for less AND it would have tasted better and probably had enough left to take some home. I will not eat at lubys again, they were uncaring, no one EVER even smiled at us, didn’t offer more tea or even check on us. I am now doing my personal boycott on LUBYS! ‘Nuff said.

This place had me come out of Unilocal retirement to let you know NOT to come here. My childhood memories of having to come here Sundays after Church in order to get a block of fried fish was ruined today, as we were treated like inmates by staff, paid $ 55 F*#$)%! DOLLARS for a family of 4 at lunch and choked down what had to be the blandest, most overprossesed food I have had since leaving the military. They now nickle and dime you for every last thing. I remember getting more than one piece of pie, or an extra jello. HELLNO. Even if we wanted to approach the nasty, haggard people who worked there and snapped at EVERYONE, they’d charge you. The dr. pepper came out complete soda water, the sweet tea hadn’t been changed in at least a day by the taste, and I watched with my own eyes one of the servers intentionally scare a small child for a laugh. …are you kidding me? The management and Luby’s as a business should be ashamed of the service, actions, and food of this location. As far as price, I haven’t been to a Luby’s in years, but for $ 55? I am definitely taking my family elsewhere.

Today, I had cash. I usually don’t carrying cash, but use the card. Anyways, I was glad to be physically able to leave a tip(cash) for the server. It’s not the same, compared to leaving the tip on the receipt. I had the same entrée just like before… trying to eat somewhat healthy. I did not have Cake this time, and iced water instead tea. I might eat ice cream later on today though.

Food is typical for Luby’s cafeteria. At least at this one they don’t have the hovering servers at your table pimping for tips. HOWEVER, the drive thru is abysmal. 10 minutes will pass before they begin to take your order. Then every third side item or dessert you ask about won’t be available.(really? no blue jello? it’s the only desert picture on your drive thru menu! oh, and no steamed broccoli? you’re a caf-e-ter-ia!?) And after a 25 minute wait, guess how many times the condiment and bread orders have been right? ZERO! It’s not that hard.

Looks great from a distance. Got in line, got my plate full, and thought it would be good. It was blander than bland. Coleslaw was like eating cedar chips. Sent the fish back because it was, well fishy to the extreme. Roast beef reminded me of something I don’t want to mention. Chicken had a gamey taste. The salad was about the only thing I could eat because, I must say, they didn’t cook it.

A traditional place to get some close to home cooked soulful food. With a variety of Sundays best. A place my son likes to visit to enjoy some of my best cooked dishes. I must say the turkey and dressing is one of the best I tasted.

I disregarded the other reviews thinking they were a bit harsh. What a mistake on my part! The food was exactly as described-bland. I probably need to check my blood pressure now due to the large amount of salt needed to season not only the entrée but vegetables as well. Next time I desire some home cooked vegetables like mama ‘em, I will need to make the trek to the hood where mama ‘em is in the kitchen cooking not dining. Luby’s in Duncanville off Hwy 67 is were I should have gone.

Fun place to watch geriatrics gum their food. I remember third grade when my grandmother would pick me up from school and take me to Luby’s everyday. The rolls are good and they have all the condiments you need to add some flavor to the bland food.

the food is bland here… maybe its because a majority of the people that eat here are senior citizens… its kind of pricey too… its fancy old people food…
