Fantastic local restaurant in downtown Fort Worth. When I started working down here I stopped in on a whim and now this is about the only place I go for lunch. Ended up turning the rest of the office from other sandwich places to this one because the quality of their food is so good. Four star is a great place to get some good Avoca coffee and a quick breakfast in the morning or a great sandwich or pizza for lunch. I Highly recommend giving four star a shot if not even making it your go to. Recommendation: California Club. You won’t regret it.

Nice atmosphere for a quick lunch salad, salad was great but the customer service was beyond poor. Not very friendly and welcoming.

Good ham sandwich. The Mediterranean pizza was better.

I ate here several times in 2014 and while I loved the food the customer service turned me all the way off. I had an experience in 2014 where I ordered a sandwich and forgot to change the bread(I loveeee their croissants) and when I asked if I could change it one of the guys barked at me saying«No, it’s already been made!!!» Have they never heard that the customer is always right? I would have happily paid extra to get what I wanted. They also serve desserts, some of which are downright heavenly but trying to get info from them about where they come from, when they would have them again or how to order them was like pulling teeth. I finally stopped going but after reminiscing about their Spice Layer Cake with Brown Sugar Buttercream and Pecan Sprinkles I ventured back down there in the new year and was PLEASANTLY surprised. The place has been remodeled and repainted so it’s not as dark AND they were pleasant and conversational! I asked about the cake and was told they would have it on Monday(today) and the guy graciously offered to order me one. I asked if I needed to fill out an order form, and he smiled and said, no I trust you! I left wondering if aliens had inhabited their bodies and hoping they could survive in our atmosphere forever. :) Ventured back to get my cake and took a coworker whose sentiments were the same as mine about the place. I thought it was a fluke but I went back to get my cake and again they were great! She was very impressed with the remodeland attitiude adjustment as well. I remarked to the guy that their moods seemed to have improved along with the paint colors and said that could possibly be true. Well worth a second look if you liked their food but wished the customer service was better because now it is!

My children’s birthmother and I dropped in for our first visit. Based on the location, and décor, I figured it would be okay, and honestly, I didn’t write home about it. Then again, I haven’t written home in over a decade. I digress… It was near closing time, and we were served quickly and the food was very good. I had the turkey salad sandwich, and was quite pleased. No need for a doggie bag. Three reasons: — The meal was appropriately sized. — The meal was too good. — My Rottweilers prefer door-to-door salesmen, Mormons and Jehovah’s Witnesses. My vastly better-half ate something that she liked, but I’ve slept a few times and am clueless what it was. I don’t think it was scallops, sardines, or puffer fish. Or Bison, or Elk. There is nothing fancy-shmacy here. After all, we were«Where the West begins», not«Where the East peters out». Wasn’t expensive, and wasn’t going to rival the fast food chains cheap prices. But the quality is far better. If you think this place is expensive, go around the corner to Del Frisco’s, or Capital Grill. Amazing food, but expect to pay triple digits for that meal with the wife. BTW, the name is Four Star Café! And, as Great Uncle Doug said, «I shall return».

What a find! Looking for a simple place to have a good lunch amid all the upper places near the Convention Center in downtown Ft. Worth. Saw this and decided to check it out. When we opened the door we knew we had to eat there. Lovely smell of pizza not from the freezer. I had the ham and swiss cheese on multi grain and she had the California Club. Both were great and did not cost an arm and a leg. Would love to try the pizza. Maybe next time.

4 Star doesn’t pretend to be something it is not, and I appreciate that. Small, homey place with basic good food. I had a BLT for lunch with chips and a sweet tea, for just under $ 10. Not a great value as the sandwich was something I easily could have made, and the chips were from a bag, but 4 Star doesn’t advertise to be gourmet food. Parking is a bit tough on Houston Street, have some quarters with you to feed the meter. 12 minutes per quarter. After 6 pm, street parking is free. When I need to be downtown around lunch, I would go back. Not fussy and quaint. Yeah, the guys working here could be a bit friendlier at the counter.

The lattes here have a lot of flavor especially the vanilla and hazelnut. The cakes are always fresh and homemade. Breakfast burritos are delish and made hot and ready. The reason I give this place one star is because I frequent this café every week and time after time again I always make an effort to say hello to the bearded stout fellow that works there and he just blows me off every time! He is incredibly rude and doesn’t even look at you and never even replies to greetings or goodbye’s. His customer service SUCKS. I will not be coming back to this place because of him. I will take my business elsewhere down the street.

We were trying to kill some time before our flight, so we stopped by for a late lunch. I ordered the Turkey Sandwich on wheat. It was OK, not great… something I could get anywhere. My husband ordered pizza on foccacia bread, which was a little greasy and again, something you could get anywhere.

I had a white chocolate caramel latte and a brownie. The coffee was excellent and the brownie was amazing! It was very humid and hot inside, though, so we didn’t stay.
