This is as authentic as it gets– tortillas and horchata are excellent for those that know authentic Mexican food this is our spot — so far everything I’ve ordered has been on point–

I’m not a huge fan of birria, but my brother said it was good. They have fresh orange juice and home made tortillas. The service is just barely ok, the place it’s kind of dirty, specially the bathrooms. But if u r craving tacos, not so bad for lengua!

I got the birria from here and it was great! My bf ordered the menudo and it did it have good flavor. It’s good overall.

We decided to go here on a whim while in the area. The food wasn’t as bad as people are saying on here — at least not what I ordered(which is a relief because I opened Unilocal as soon as we sat down and expected the worst). I enjoyed the carne asada and the homemade tortillas were really good! The margaritas were not very good — you couldn’t taste much alcohol at all. Service was a bit show, but not much for a Friday night. Later we find out the guy that took our orders was also making the tortillas, so I imagine they were a little short staffed that night. It was a decent experience overall, and definitely more authentic Mexican than tex-mex so if this isn’t for you, I’d suggest looking elsewhere. :)

Food is good but service leaves a lot to be desired. I had the fiesta fajitas. Large portions.

Poor service unless you speak Spanish. Food is way too expensive. $ 12 for chicken enchiladas. They put a lot of lettuce and rice and beans and not. Lot of the main dish. Won’t come back.

This place has soooo many downfalls. Starting with the employees having very loud private conversations, a screaming manager, bus boys slamming dishes, disgusting restrooms/high chairs/booster seats/dining area/patio(can’t imagine the kitchen is any better). Our waitress(Blanca) was very sweet but she had too many tables to be attentive. I’m not sure what the other waitstaff did besides talking because I heard the manager yelling at our waitress to clean the bar while everyone else stood around. The food was ok, a little under-seasoned but very large portions and it could be fixed with salt, the«salsa»(resembled tomato soup) was sad and the chips were hard. If it hadn’t been for Groupon I wouldn’t have discovered this gem(sarcasm).

This is the nastiest place I’ve ever been to… needless to say will NEVER go back!!! I’m keeping this simple because words can’t even explain just how bad the experience was! I definitely do NOT recommend!!!

BAD. Wow. Do NOT eat here. Complete waste of money! Maybe if you enjoy authentic Mexican, like in Mexico, like you would never find at a tex-mex place, in which case I don’t really know much about, then you will like it. But this is the kind of place where if you ask for«queso» you get extra shredded cheese on something. Most the menu is in Spanish. I got the cheese enchiladas. I asked for queso on top instead of the red sauce(which I order 100% of the time when I order enchiladas) and out comes my enchiladas smothered in red sauce(gobs of it) and a MASSIVE bowl of «cheese sauce.» The«cheese sauce» was gross. Tell me why it was sour tasting! I explained this to the server, and thus starts our argument. Tell me why the server was arguing with me! Me: «How much is this bowl of cheese sauce, because I didn’t order a bowl of cheese sauce. I asked if I could have cheese sauce on my enchiladas instead of the red sauce and you said I could.» Her: «You can’t order it that way.» Me: «But I did order it that way, and you said«ok.» Her: «But you can’t have that.» Me: «Then you shouldn’t have said I could. I didn’t order this massive bowl of cheese sauce.» Her: «You said ‘cheese sauce.’ So I brought cheese sauce.» Me: «I asked if I could have cheese sauce on top of my enchiladas, and you said yes. I didn’t order a huge bowl of cheese.» Her: «Well the only way you can have it is on the side.» Me: «I understand. You just should have explained that earlier.» Her: «Well you said cheese sauce-« Me: «Can I please talk to the manager?» I mean why are you arguing with me? Why? I understand that YOU are confused. But this isn’t what I ordered. And I order the same thing every single time I get Mexican food. No server has ever been remotely confused. It really just isn’t that confusing, just a simple modification. My husband ordered the carnitas tacos. The picture was of your typical authentic Mexican tacos, small corn tortillas and meat with cilantro, onions and lime. What came was burrito sized flour tortillas stuffed with meat only. And he said they didn’t taste right either. I just feel like if you can’t get Cheese Enchiladas, Queso, and Tacos right, you fail. EPIC fail if your salsa sucks. Waste of money guys!

The chips were cold. The sprite had a nasty taste, like they poured some bleach in the drink. It is gross. It wasn’t even busy. The chicken enchilada was okay. Nothing to remember. And the staff is rude as heck. Will not be returning. The only positive thing i can say about this place is that they have mints so you can mask the nasty after tasste of the food.

I stick to my past reviews, regular here and though Chalios isn’t perfect they make a great molcajete yucateco! I would reccomend that you try this delicioso bowl, chips and salsa are pretty good and tortillas are great. The service is usually good, so give Chalios a try,

Everything from simple appitizers to grilled steak and lobster. They also have 10 different margaritas. Still awesome!

This place is so easy to over look, the outside does not do justice to the offerings inside. The menu has food items not typically found in the area, i.e. lamb and lobster. The location also has fresh corn torillas and a different type of salsa. Definitely a place you need to check out if in the area.

I would only go here for the birria(if you like lamb). Other menu items are just average. The handmade tortillas are excellent, as are the chips and salsa. But the chopped cilantro they include on the side was old and ugly looking.

I noticed this place because they had a guy on the sidewalk shaking a sign. Actually, I drove by a few times and everytime there was somebody outside holding a sign. Pretty good marketing. First, I am not an expert on Mexican food or Tex Mex. But we had a few good lunches here and the prices are reasonable. It’s close to the historic stockyards of fort worth. It was tasty. They had $ 1.50 Tecate beers and they made their own tortillas(corn and flour). It’s worth a try.

This is the first birrieria I’ve seen in the North Side, but there are others in Fort Worth. Birrieria’s pride themselves on their fantastic selection of Goat dishes. The loosely tied banner for live Mariachi’s is what first caught my eye at Chalio’s. We arrived to a beat up looking dining room with a half price menu being offered during the music, which began at eight.(They don’t have mariachis every night) Servers were wearing god-awful technicolor outfits that must have come from Pancho’s goodwill. They were efficient, but a little strange. The music began, our food arrived and we were pleasantly surprised. The goat dishes were offered in many different styles, served with broth, cilantro, lime and onions. We ordered the surf & turf which left a little to be desired. Great shrimp-mediocre steak. Enchiladas were ordered off of the regular menu and were made fresh. After dinner, we moved out to the patio to get a better look at the 12 piece Mariachi band. They are the reason to go to Chalio’s.
