Cabo Grande is CLOSED — and it looks like it’ll be closed for good. Not sure what happened, as it was always pretty busy at lunchtime, but it’s done-ski.

Second time here. I really liked the service. Our waitress Vero P was very attentive. Quite refreshing. As for the food I’m not a fan of Mexican chocolate which I knew before I ordered mole enchiladas. However, the enchiladas were good and even better once I scraped off the mole(chocolate) sauce.

This was a favorite place when I worked in Ft. Worth and I was excited to come back. The service was top notch, as always. The food was lacking this time around, though not enough to complain, and the prices a bit higher than I remember.(Inflation, I suppose) It’s not the worst place and it’s not the best. You’ll do better with another local spot for the money. I’ll be going to MiCocina or Cantina Laredo.

Went tonight to grab drinks and food after the Unilocal Elite slumber party and walked in the open door. Staff leaving said oh, sorry, we are closed. This was about 5 minutes after 11pm when they are supposed to be open till 12a on Friday and Saturday nights. Ick!

This place has a joke for an owner. I attempted to dine here for my sister’s birthday. We arrived an hour early to tell them that we had a party of eleven for 8:00pm. The«host» said that they could not give us a quote on a wait time because of the art festival going on downtown. We said OK and waited outside, right by the door for about 20 minutes. I then went in to ask the«host» if they could gauge how long it would be(more than an hour or less) and he shrugged and said he had no way of knowing. I then asked if I could speak to a manager, because maybe he would know better. The«host» then said that he was the manager. I replied with«really?» and he said yes and that he was also the owner. I said OK we will be outside waiting and he said that he would have someone come and get us when our table was ready. About 25 minutes later my father and I went in to acquire about our table and the host/manager/owner said that he came outside and called for us to no answer and that we would have no be placed on the wait list again at the bottom. First off, he did not come outside. We were literally 10 feet from the front door and not one person in our party heard or saw him. He is a liar. Secondly, after we left my father called up there to complain that he did not like being lied to. The host/manager/owner answered and when he realized who my father was he hung up. Joke, right? That’s all I have to say. I do NOT recommend Cabo Grande. P. S. I only gave Cabo Grande one star because Unilocal made me.

We have eaten here sporadically over the years. When we first ate here years ago it was just the corner of the street, now the place nearly takes up half a block. The drinks are good but the Mojito we had this time was horrible. It tasted worse than cough medicine. We didn’t complain, because complaining is not our thing, we usually just leave reviews. :) The Margarita’s here are why we keep coming back and we should have just stuck with that. But we hate upsetting the bartender so we didn’t order anymore cause we were not sure we would like them. The food is always good. We ordered Shrimp enchilada’s. Thinking two would be enough, we were wrong. The food portions here are small. Do not expect an over sized plate of food. It’s served very moderate and the enchilada’s where the size of my fingers. So, order more than 2 if you are hungry. Server was very nice and friendly but didn’t say anything when we were not drinking our mojito’s nor did he ask how they were.

I snagged an Amazon Local coupon for Parillas for Two. My son and I went for a night out. From the moment we entered Cabo Grande, it was a downhill dive. The place wasn’t very busy, but the wait staff apparently felt it was more important to check their phones than serve customers. I’ve spent less time waiting in a DMV line than I did for a drink at Cabo Grande. It was an upcharge for the«deluxe» parillas, which included osso bucco and lobster. Anything shellfish was grossly overcooked. Shrimp and lobster were dry as a bone. The osso bucco and beef short ribs tasted three days old and overcooked as well. The«deluxe» was a travesty and I showed the waitress our overcooked, lifeless piece of crustacean along with the horrid brown osso bucco. I asked that the«deluxe» not be added to our check. It shouldn’t have been a problem. The wait staff should have been empowered. But no, we have to get the manager’s approval. Now did the manager follow up and ask about the overall experience? No. The manager was MIA from the floor. There are far too many quality restaurants in downtown Fort Worth to even waste one minute or one cent here. To say Cabo Grande sucks is an understatement.

It’s a shame that with such a fabulous location, Cabo Grande is such a mediocre restaurant. We stumbled upon the place when in town for a convention looking for a decent lunch spot. Our hopes were dashed pretty much as soon as we walked in with the surly, workout-clothes-wearing hostess begrudgingly seating us. We had a procession of random servers throughout the hour-long lunch. On to the food… the salsa was delicious — one of the few high points of the meal. I ordered the lunch combo with the chicken enchilada and crispy chicken taco, which were pretty run-of-the-mill. The black beans were so bland, it tasted like they had been slopped directly from the can to the microwave. The Cuban rice had far too much garlic for my taste. Overall, there’s much better Mexican fare in Fort Worth — go find it!

The Quesadillas were extremely greasy(see picture) they would not do anything about them though after 2 slices were partially eaten. Even though the other two slices were much worse. The other customers are very rowdy and the bartender keeps moving all the barstools which make a very loud sound. It also took a while to figure out what house red wine was and I was brought sangria before they got it right.

I was in Ft. Worth for about a week, and discovered Cabo on my first day. They were running a $ 1 margarita special at lunch. I had 2, then went to the conference and told all of my friends! My friends and I went back daily for the whole week of the convention. I drank a lot of $ 1 margaritas. The waitresses were very, very hot, but kept refusing my marriage proposals. I vaguely recall really good Mexican food, and margaritas, and they had a lunch buffet and also margaritas. There may have been some margaritas. Oh, and frozen margaritas! And some on the rocks! They were very strong and tasty. *hiccup*. This guy… I love this guy… Cabo Grande earns a *hiccup* 4 stars!!!

Last night I stopped here with three friends for a drink before we slipped home to our respective beds. I got a chambord margarita figuring hey i love chambord and i love margaritas so this should be awesome. Wrong. it was beyond bad. It was so bad that I sent it back and got a regular raspberry margarita. The raspberry margarita was equally horrible. I drank a total of an inch of it in the course of an hour. It was just awful. Friend orders coconut margarita. Horrible. We each tried it using the insert straw, suck up an inch. deposit in the mouth method. Beyond terrible. This is when we deduced that any kind of margarita here will be beyond bad since their margarita mix is way too acidic. How they can get away with having really bad margaritas in Fort Worth is beyond me. Another friend ordered a strawberry daiquiri and it was the weakest daiquiri we have encountered. The last friend got a mojito which was a nice safe option. Will we ever go again? No. IS there little patio courtyard lovely? Sure. You know who has a way better courtyard? Joe T Garcia’s. and they have good margaritas even if you do have to pay in cash only.

We hunted this place down because the menu included a number of vegetarian items for one of our dining companions. The menu was large but no overwhelming. I had a yummy berry mojito, that went down really easy… maybe too easy. I had a shrimp and rice dish and was pleased at the quality and the portion. My dining companions had a little bit of everything from steak to chicken to veggie. Bonus points for the wait staff being in costume on the Sunday before Halloween.

The best part of Cabo Grande is their adorable patio space… I’ll get to that in a minute… Nestled within Sundance Square, this Tex-Mex(with Cajun flair?) restaurant is in a fantastic location. Right in the middle of downtown Fort Worth, a destination for locals and tourists alike. I came here with a group of friends after an evening of roaming the square. Cabo Grande has great ambiance; bright colors, good energy, and a friendly staff. We decided to sit outside… It’s still hotter than heck in mid-September, but the sun was setting and the patio is just so cute. A friend asked, «Does anyone else feel like we’re in Italy?» There was definitely a rustic, garden-y, ambrosial aura about the space. Quite nice despite the broken patio fans. The menu has so many things on it. Perhaps too many… Enchiladas, tacos, nachos, the rest of your Tex-Mex classics, and alligator? Haha. Strange, but my friend got gator enchiladas and said they were good! I ordered a burrito bowl and wasn’t impressed, although the presentation was lovely. Pretty good margaritas but sad bloody Mary’s… Great fountain soda and chips and salsa… Overall, nothing too amazing that I want to come back for, but still a fun restaurant!

With all the negative reviews & my wife saying she wasn’t impressed with a past visit I am not sure why I risked the groupon, who am I kidding I am always looking for a good deal, groupon $ 10-value $ 30 couldn’t pass it up. We both liked the chips n salsa, not hot but good. We started with queso, good enough that we finished the cup. Next came the habanero combo fajitas. They sent out all the wrong setups but our waiter quickly corrected the mistake. Plenty to eat and they were delicious. Our experience a good place to eat, with good service and my wife and I both enjoyed our meals,

Two stars for the food, and a third star for knowing how to come up with decent promotions that would make me want to come back, even if I wasn’t tremendously impressed with the food. For me, and a number of my friends, that included the $ 1 margaritas at lunch, available until 2pm, and daily specials. I had lunch at Cabo Grande twice. The first day, I took advantage of the half-price deal on the Padilla Guadalajara lunch for 2(pictured). The regular price, about $ 64, is ridiculous IMO, but a decent deal for 2 at half-price. It includes a variety of grilled meats, and we opted for the extras such as the lobster tail. So it essentially became surf-and-turf fajitas. The second time, a very large group of us came for the lunch buffet. It is reasonably priced, and quite large. But the buffet items were hit or miss in terms of flavor and appeal. Some were good, others less good. But these sorts of things compensate for what is missing — flavor. It feels like Cabo Grande is taking advantage of being across the street from a convention center, and providing less-than-authentically-flavorful food to people who want a quick meal and may not be prepared for the spiciness of something more authentic. So basically you’re paying for convenience, especially at lunchtime.

Cabo Grande is situated across from the Worthington and close to Sundance Square. It is the Six Flags equivalent to mexican food — a tourist trap with over-the-top décor and a mediocre menu. Their market are the visitors, not the home team. Cabo Grande has the same opportunistic formula as The Rainforest Café, The Hard Rock Café and Cracker Barrel. a theme and a convenient location. The food doesn’t have to be good, the service doesn’t have to be friendly, because you are never likely to see the same patrons twice. There are too many excellent, authentic tourist choices for Mexican food in Fort Worth… like Joe T. Garcias and El Rancho Grande. Don’t be lazy just because you are on vacation. I promise it will be worth the effort!

I won’t say that this is my favorite Mexican restaurant on most days. BUT… I wandered in for their brunch this weekend(somewhat reluctantly, I’ll add, having been several times and thinking I knew exactly what to expect), and have to say that I found it comparable to the venerable Blue Mesa brunch, with about a quarter of the people present, and without the ever-present wait(there wasn’t one for us, anyway). It’s nice to have options, after all, and this one provides a spread that goes the entire length of the restaurant, with a breakfast taco bar, a salad bar, fajitas, tacos, enchiladas, soups, desserts, an egg/omelet chef who cooks to order, and a friendly staff. I will, however, echo the opinion that the prime rib left a lot to be desired, and add that they don’t have guacamole for some reason(as a rule, apparently, as we asked about it and it seems to be something that they just don’t do). Still, I think it’s definitely a pretty good option in downtown for brunch.

Went here accidentally as the place we were trying to go was not open. What luck! Cabo Grande is great! Our waitress couldn’t have been more friendly or helpful — even when I asked her to bring me salt which happened to be sitting right in front of me. Ha! I had a top shelf margarita. It was perfect and very large. I also had the Tijuana Chicken Lettuce Wraps. The combo of honey chipotle sauce and ranch dressing made these handheld treats pop with flavor. Everyone loved their food and we were too stuffed to order dessert. It’s too bad we don’t make it over to Ft. Worth very often, but the next time we do, we’ll be eating at Cabo Grande.

This review is based on appetizers and drinks only, but I definitely won’t try any entrees nor go back! My coworkers and I were staying across the street at Renaissance Worthington, who recommended this place. They must have a partnership because I would NEVER recommend this place. We were craving guacamole and drinks, so we went for happy hour. The guacamole tasted like smashed up avocadoes with a lot of lime juice… no other flavors. I understand lime is used to make guacamole last longer, but we were eating it immediately, no need to ruin the taste to keep it «fresh» when it’s supposed to have been made fresh when we ordered it… maybe it wasn’t. The salsa was awful, and I rarely dislike salsa. It has a strong taste that just doesn’t taste like good, tex-mex salsa. Bummer! The guac came with a little queso that was a disappointment as well. It had a bland flavor and hardened much more quickly than other restaurant’s queso. This place is in a great part of town, but you have plenty of other Mexican restaurants nearby to try! Also, Joe T Garcia’s is a 10 minute cab ride away and the BEST in Fort Worth for good food, drinks, and the largest patio you’ve ever seen. The only good part is that they have Disaronno and make great amaretto sours. My coworkers said the $ 4 margaritas during happy hour were good too. Maybe just go to drink?!

This place is defiantly not worth your money. Save it for a place that serves halfway decent Mexican food. The queso me and my family ordered was hard and tasteless, and everything was overcooked or under cooked. Learn how to use a grill people! Also, the rice tastes like straight up garlic and butter.(You’d think it’d be good, but it’s not I assure you) Oh my gosh it was nasty.
