I was looking forward to having a great dinner. The service made our experience terrible. The waiter took a very long time in greeting us. Took our drink order and left. Came back 10 to 15 minutes later. I didn’t get what I asked for. Ordered the waffles and chicken. They brought me wings. They did bring me the waffles and chicken, after my family was almost done eating. And we never got a drink refill. For sure not coming back.

Have only been here for lunch, so I can’t speak of the real experience with live music and such. This also just includes s rating of the chicken waffles… The chicken waffles(my first ones ever) and they were good, but not great. But honestly, that’s probably just because I am not a huge fan of bones in my chicken and I thought there was too little chicken meat with the wing.(Though a colleague also ordered it and felt similarly) The plate looked awesome though! So food 3 stars The waiter was great, nice, quick and efficient. The atmosphere was good and can see how it’s fun on a weekend night… I’ll probably be back for done live music :)

Buttons is still a solid choice for Southern style food in Fort Worth. The chicken and waffles is amazing and a very popular dish. On evenings you see this dish flying out the kitchen, waiters skillfully balancing plate after plate of the deliciousness. I visit occasionally with my job during lunch and have visited for a couple of birthdays. They usually always get the food right and the wait isn’t terribly long. The live music is good, but this weekend I visited and not only was there a $ 5 cover, even though we got there before 8, but the band, which was scheduled to begin at 8, didn’t start until 8:48. Not so great. Our waitress this time was hilarious and on point-all of our items were brought out quickly considering we were dining in at a peak time in a Friday night. Word of warning– do NOT get the Grown n Sexy drink– it tastes like a melted pink Popsicle –not a hint of liquor whatsoever and it cost almost $ 11. They announce birthdays and anniversaries while they do the live music which is a nice touch. Prices do go up by at least $ 3-$ 4 at dinner time. Be sure to sign up for their updates and deals via email. It’s how you can get a free chicken and waffles entrée good only on your birthday, which is a$ 19 value if you go at dinner!

Amazing! My boyfriend and I decided to make the drive to forth worth from Irving because we were in desperate need of some soul music and food! We arrived and it was slightly packed but the hostess seated us at the very front! We were excited because it was my boyfriend’s birthday and what better place than to sit front and center to live music! The band was amazing! The food… spectacular! I wish we lived closer to this gem so we could visit OFTEN! Now if only the Addison location was to open back up, our desperate search of a spot to become regulars would be complete!

Buttons is not normally my go to spot for soul food, but my sorors came from all over the Metroplex to hang out, so we decided to stop by for dinner and to hear the band. The food and drink menu offers lots of options, however in my humble opinion they are a bit overpriced. I spent $ 15 for 4 wings, which is absurd, and one of the main reasons I don’t come here often. I understand though that you go to Buttons more for the experience and I was pleased with the service and the quality of my meal. Tip: Get there WELL before 8 if you don’t want to get get hit with the $ 5 entertainment fee on the weekends. I’m all about supporting artists, but was surprised to see that charge on my receipt even though we arrived before 8. Tip 2: Be prepared to wait, even if you have a reservation. We waited almost thirty minutes to be seated and our entire party was there on time.

Was pretty disappointed. The service was kinda slow and the good was not that great. I was really excited about this place too.

I have to say my party and I were overall disappointed. For the price the serving sizes could have been twice the size, and then they would have only been a «normal size» serving. Also, there’s an issue with consistency. Out of a party of 11, 3 people ordered the chicken fried steak and each was a different size. Mine happened to be the smallest. There was a lot of empty space on the plate that could have been filled. Definitely the smallest portions from any soul food restaurant I’ve ever been to. After hearing all the«raves» it was not worth a trip from San Diego.

Live music! No cover! We stopped in after a TCU game because nothing else was open. Friendly bar staff and great three piece band… with NOCOVER! We had appetizers and drinks… the full kitchen was open until 12. I was impressed with the late night menu. It was basically the whole menu available until midnight. The free jazz/blues music was awesome. Great vibe in the room and great crowd. Everyone was super polite. I will say that they need to train their staff to have discussions about customers and bad tips somewhere other than on the floor, I really didn’t need to hear that part and it certainly didn’t make me tip any higher. Overall a great place to stop after a game and I will definitely stop again when I’m in Fort Worth!

My family of six, four adults and two children, decided to go to Buttons because of the rave reviews for their Sunday brunch. I’m a huge brunch buffet fan, so we decided to give it a try. There was no wait at 11:30ish. We were greeted and seated immediately. We were given menus and our drink order was taken. We all got the brunch buffet. I will have to say that the food selection is small. However, for the price($ 19 for adults, $ 10 for children), I thought it was fair. There were standard breakfast dishes, cheese grits, french toast, potatoes, scrambled eggs, bacon, biscuits and sausage patties. The lunch options were fish nuggets, ham, baked chicken, greens, dressing, gumbo with rice, macaroni and cheese. There were three dessert options: red velvet cookies, peach cobbler, crumb cake. And there was also pineapple, grapes and melon. There was an omelet station, however, we didn’t get to try it as there didn’t seem to be anyone there. I’m sure you could have asked and someone would have helped, though. The food was decent. Two of us tried the mimosa’s(extra $ 2 charge) and said they were fine. The main reason that this isn’t a rave review was the service. And I think it was just our waiter, not the overall service of the restaurant because we had to get assistance from another server who gladly helped us. We couldn’t get our drink glasses filled, even after asking a few times. I got up to actually go pick up a pitcher of iced tea to refill my father’s glass(that’s when the other waiter intercepted me). Two of us asked twice for just plain water and never received it. Our waiter was very slow to clear dishes and actually told us that he couldn’t reach all the way down the table so he was just going to leave the dirty dishes there. I can understand if it were busy, however, while getting up to get food, I kept seeing my server kind of lounging around and joking with his co-workers. The receipt said our server was«Art»(because he never offered his name), so if you are there maybe find another server. We were just so underwhelmed with the service, it kind of put a damper on the awesome ambiance of the restaurant. All we had was the buffet, so literally all he had to do was refill our glasses and clear the dishes. So disappointed in that. When we left just before 1:30 p.m., all tables were full, however, no line at the door.

The atmosphere. The food. Always on point. First time trying the fish and grits and it was truly delicious. The grits were complemented by well seasoned fish and a delicious shrimp and cheese infused eggs… OHMYGOSH… This is truly a pleasant place. My husband had the chicken fried steak, it was RIGHT! Way to stay true to pure soulful ingredients… Now it is time to run again!

AMAZING!!! I love the food did I say I LOVE the food. It was hot juicy delicious. Friendly helpful staff. And I just happen to get to meet the Owner Karen such a beautiful down to earth woman I love ya girl can’t wait to come for Ladies night. Karen found out during our conversation that I have never tried sweet potato pie and she trotted right over the the kitchen and came back with a complimentary pie for me to try. Thank you. Now the only thing I could possibly complain about is it is a bit pricy I had the chicken and waffles and a glass of tea $ 24 plus a 5.00 tip for 1 person 1 meal but the food is amazing. I will return!!!

We went here for dinner tonight. Our server was outstanding and so was all of our dishes! I had the shrimp, fish n grits. Although the grits were too salty for my tastebuds it was still a superb dish. Once I let the sever know she offered me a replacement side item. My cousin and friend both LOVED their food as well. They even gave my cousin peach cobbler and ice cream for her birthday. The next time I’m in Texas I’ll be sure to come back. It’s a MUST!!!

So this place is obviously the first restaurant you think of when you are wanting a more upscale soul food restaurant. I made the trek down to the fort worth location after church and I was pleasantly surprised there wasn’t a wait for 6 people. We were immediately sat by the very helpful hostess and we were given our menus to choose whether or not we’d want to choose their massive buffet or one of the 4 brunch options on the menu. I originally had my mouth fixated on their signature chicken and waffles, but after seeing everyone’s plate at the table who came back from the buffet, I was whistling a different tune. I sampled everything on the buffet and everything I picked up with my fork was amazing. From the made to order omelette to the pot roast. Plenty of fresh fruit and desserts as well. My favorite food place, PERIOD! If this is the best food ever, why the 3 stars? Our server! He obviously didn’t want to be there. He would disappear and come back irritated we wanted more items ordered. Hello! ! The more we order, the higher gratuity charge there is! !! By ordering more, we were putting more money in his pocket, but instead of doing his job, he rolled his eyes and made us feel like we were inconveniencing him. Ugh! Unfortunately, you can have a great establishment, but someone’s perception of your restaurant can be tarnished due to bad customer service.

We have eaten here two times. Both times I got the chicken fried chicken, while my husband tried the chicken fried steak and the fish, shrimp and grits. We also had the fried green tomato appetizer both times, and the giant chicken wings the second time. Yeah. We are people who like to eat. Our first visit with the chicken fried fare was really good. The second visit however the food was not up to par and disappointing. The gravy on my chicken fried chicken tasted strange. My husband’s fish, shrimp and grits were also a let down. Fried green tomatoes, though, were excellent — as was the mac and cheese side. One thing I can say is that service has been excellent both times we’ve visited. Great staff; very attentive; very friendly.

Uuuuuuugh… I’ve had Buttons on my list to visit forever, and finally went today early and it was not even close to what I expected. The oxtail dish was best of the two — my fried chicken tasted old like it was leftover from lunch. No excuse for poor service there was literally only two other people dining at 4:30pm… Too pricy for what you get, and too bland for the soul food label. Maybe I’ll go back if a band is playing… but other then that they’ve been delisted from the favorites list.

Delicious food, excellent atmosphere and great service! The fried green tomatoes with ham and egg are perfectly cooked and seasoned and half off during happy hour. My fiancée said this was by far his favorite appetizer ever. The chicken and waffles was awesome, tender and juicy chicken paired with a soft and lightly sweetened waffle. I had the herb chicken with greens, black eye peas and mashed sweet potatoes. everything tasted just like grandma’s(that is a rare thing!) each side was only an additional $ 3 and I didn’t finish any of them bc the portion was large-so feel free to try a lot of them. the peach cobbler was also very good, but I think the pecan is their best seller! They play old school music which complements the dining experience well and puts the crowd in a good mood. We loved it and look forward to coming back when the band plays!

Came here with a party of 15 and we were seated automatically. Their food is amazing! Keep in mind that their plates are rather large so maybe splitting an entrée would be a good idea. Service is great. The ambience is so chill and calm with nice jazz music in the background. Side note: they add $ 5 on weekends if there’s a musician playing. I think this place would be perfect for Friday night drinks or a fancy date night. Don’t hesitate to try this place out!
