Nine Mile Restaurant

Note to travelers that are not local: if you have more than 4 people, keep going. We stopped in with a family of 4 and an infant. There were three families ahead of us and lots more that came after. They passed us up three times (during which time another guest took the name of another guest who arrived because he’d been standing there so long before she came back) before I went to use the restroom and saw just how cramped and tiny the dining area was. There is about 3 – 4 family style rows through the middle and 4 person booths around the perimeter with enough aisle space for one person. She never told us how long of a wait it would be so I assumed it wouldn’t be long. If there was practically no way of fitting us or that we would be passed up I would have appreciated not waiting and got back on the road then. We left as we’re about two hours from home after 12 hours on the road, surely we will find something more accommodating. I’m disappointed because the reviews looked good, but as far as I could tell in my 15 min there, the hostess could do better.

This was overall a great place to get breakfast. If you’re looking for somewhere just to grab a quick bite then this is right for you. The food, service, and atmosphere are all good. It is family friendly and it’s really just a nice place to eat. I got the pancakes and they were superb. They were not overdone and they were nice and fluffy and very delicious. The only problem was the person eating with me had bacon that was way too overdone, and he said it wasn’t that good. But besides this, this is a great place to eat breakfast and I know I’ll be back.

I had lunch with a friend on Thursday around 11 AM on November 22, 2015. It has off street parking and when you walk in it is obvious it is a family restaurant that is very old, but quaint. It has very low ceilings which I personally did not care for but it was clean, small and cozy. It has a full bar and both tables and booths. Along the walls are pictures of local friends, customers and family.
My friend lives in the rural farming community and knew most of the people in the pictures. It has a full bar and a limited selection of domestic draught beer (+.5).
I had a miller light and a bacon cheeseburger and fries. My friend had a salad. Both were very good. The burger was not too big, but appeared to be fresh hamburger and very tasty. The fries were crinkle cut and what you would expect. The meal was very reasonable and if you live around here, you already know all about the place. However, if you are passing through, it is a great place for a home cooked meal. Food is reasonable and wait staff friendly. It gets a 3+ from me.

I was pleasantly surprised by the home made chili. My dad had the sirloin steak which was huge with two sides. You will find this place off of the beaten path but if you are looking for a good meal at good price, I think you can’t go wrong here. And of course the beer was very cold ;)

Cole slaw was decent. Fries were eh. But the Popcorn Shrimp were AMAZING plus there was enough for 2 meals. Plus its the oldest bar in Indiana!

I had lunch and ordered the 9 mile club. Very good sandwich! Onion rings were awesome! Quick order, quick service, clean, & great food too! $ 12 for Sandwich, Onion rings, & an ice tea. Good value.

Stopped in to pick up carry out for a doctors office nearby. I’ve never had perch so perfectly prepared.
You can’t even call it a breading really (which it shouldn’t be, but not many places know this). It’s more of a dusting, perfectly seasoned. This will now be might go to stop even if it’s out-​of-​the-​way when I’m traveling through Fort Wayne

Great Place !!! We were in Fort Wayne for a wedding and since we live in Texas we were looking for a place that serves Lake Perch.
Saw Nine Mile’s menu and we drove 15 miles to get there and… they have great lake perch …
Nice family restaurant with a wide variety of items on the menu. Great prices too !!
Well other than that I just want to rave about the lake perch… huge portion, deliciously fried and a great price !!!
SO good, we went back the next day and had lake perch again for lunch !!!

Great restaurant. Good selection of foods, huge portions at a reasonable price.
The ambiance is homey, and they get a lot of locals.
Everything there at breakfast is delicious, but I highly recommend the cinnamon roll and the egg and cheese croissant sandwich.
For lunch, some menu standouts are the ribs, the Spinach salad (best salad ever), the chicken gizzards (a local specialty!), and the fried fish sandwich. The potato soup is also delicious.
Filling and family friendly. I highly recommend it!

prices were fine and portions were good. had some help no show and only 1 waitress for 7 – 8 tables. Came for breakfast but heard they have one of the better breaded pork tenderloins around, but did not get to try

An old fashioned family style restaurant with the bar in a separate room. I ordered wings and fries. The wings, sadly, were drowned in wing sauce but it did not disguise the fact that they were not cooked well. The meat was cooked but the skin was slimy and fatty. I pulled most of it off because it was just too gross to put in my mouth. The fries were nothing special but they weren’t bad either. The prices were okay. The best part was the service. The waitstaff was friendly and attentive, but not a nuisance while my friend and I sat over our beer and talked for several hours. I will definitely go there again and I will update this review if I go back for a full meal at some point in the future.

The oldest bar in Indiana (1837). You can get a pitcher of Blue Moon for only $ 7. Try the onion rings or fish.
