I gave this place a good review before but this was before the owner had the most racist conversation with me. I couldn’t believe it. He said that the people who lived in the neighborhood and the kids at the school were dumb. The kids wouldn’t amount to anything. This, he said, even after he knew that I grew up around there, went to Friendly, and currently worked there. He went on and on. I tried to clean it up for him, but he made it worse. He said that the people in Montgomery County were better because they ate on better bread and started listing the breads — no kidding. I haven’t gone back since. And I later learned that this was not the first time he’s gone off like this. It was sad, really.

Use to come to joys everyday in high school. Last time I came the man at the register argued with me and three change at me for a mistake he had made. Will never come here again, not worth being disrespected.

Joy’s has been a staple for any kid that attended or attends Friendly since the early 2000’s. The staff is cool they are good at remembering faces so that makes transactions a lot smoother. I only get my steak and cheeses from that spot when I’m in the area. Word of advice tho… Call ahead because they get busy fast.

All I can say is THESTEAK and CHEESEOMG!!! They have the best steak and cheese subs in PG County by far!!! They have never changed the taste or amount of meat on their steak and cheese subs. This is another place where you can put your steak and cheese in the microwave and it will come out tasting just as good as when you bought it. I also love their grilled chicken sandwich I usually add pickles, bacon, and hot peppers to it. The BLT is delicious also. Breakfast is also good. You can also see your food being made which is a plus! The Asian couple sometimes provide entertainment when they start to argue in their language(lol!) The husband is always pleasant and is always making light of situations. This a great dive if you’re looking for a good steak and cheese. The regular carry-outs have nothing on this place. All I will suggest is to watch for the occasional nickel and diming that they tend to do. It happens from time to time.

I passed by Joy’s Market & Deli on our way to dinner, so I had to stop by to check it out as a tribute to JOY B. :D It is a small convenience store off of Old Fort Rd., in which they offer basic convenience store items(snacks and beverages(even an instant Shin ramen pack)). It is also owned by a cute/funny/friendly Korean couple: D They also have a ‘deli’ in the back where grill items are available — you can check out the menu(located in the back as well as up at the front by the cashier), pay, and then wait for your food. They have items on the menu such as: breakfast(served until 11AM — breafkast sandwiches, 2-egg omelettes(served with home fires and toast), 2 eggs platter(choice of meat, home fries, and toast), pancakes, French toast, etc.) and other lunch/dinner grill items(hot sandwiches(like the steak & cheese, bacon cheeseburger, grilled ham & cheese, etc.), hot dogs, half smoke, Italian sausages, cold cuts(Italian cot cut, turkey club, roast beef, corned beef, pastrami, tuna salad, chicken salad, etc.), wings, and french fries/onion rings. I’ve heard a lot about their steak and cheese, and how it’s the ‘best in the area,’ so I ordered one of those. I was a little disappointed that it didn’t come with a side of fries or anything like that. The steak and cheese was in a nice soft toasted bread, filled with a generous amount of great quality of meat(they use chadolbaegi!), sauteed onions, Provolone, and mayo(you can add lettuce & tomatoes if you want) — the meat itself was quite salty(even for me), but it was still pretty solid — I think I would request less salt the next time I do order it. I washed it down with an Arizona Lemon Lime Rickey — mm mm. They do have a small lot to park your car in the front, but I suggest parking in the back as the lot is larger. +convenience store +‘deli’(grill) section in the back +chadolbaegi meat used for steak & cheese(just ask for less salt)! :D +no public bathrooms +owned by a cute Korean couple: D
