Wall visiting Fort Myers on business we look to Unilocal for an idea of where to eat… We came across the Fort Myers Farmers Market. A very cute little restaurant located an industrial area. Initially we were next door at the farmer’s market but found it quickly as we would be back around. Our idea was to go light and split a meal. So we started with two salads which came out very quickly with a huge basket of sweet rolls and corn bread. It took a while but we decided on the southern fried chicken wings made to order. A compliment on the sides of collard greens fried okra and of course mac and cheese. Very little weight on… Our food came out. The chicken was piping hot made fresh. The sides were just as amazing. It was a good thing we decided to split it because of my beautiful girlfriend forced me to have the coconut cream pie… OMG! Whatever you decide to order make sure you leave room for the pie it is amazing! It’s a good thing we don’t live in the area otherwise we will both be about 500 pounds!

This is a hidden gem, and if you’ll brave the neighborhood then you’ll know why. Lock your car, don’t leave anything in there, this is located in the getto! However, once we look past that the staff is warm and greeting, feels like your in a home cooked giant kitchen. Everything is made hot and fresh to order, small menu but every single thing on it is over the top perfection. Huge portions. The coffee is great, and they are quick about keeping it full. My favorite so far is the chicken friend steak, the sausage gravy on it was incredible, really big chunks of sausage in it! Check it out for yourself and don’t forget the amazing homemade deserts they have!

Want good cheap food without frills? How about the best bbque in fort myers? If so then eat here. If you are looking for a fancy hipster restaurant with unique dishes than skip this restaurant. We stopped here on a recommendation and I noticed the large smoker outside. The inside is cozy and no frills seat yourself joint. Saturdays are bbque specials so my husband got the ribs and chicken and I got the pulled pork platter. They give you cornbread muffins and rolls to start so I was regretting my decision to devour those treats when I saw the large meals. My pulled pork came with two sides so I had the kale slaw and the fried okra. I must say that I am normally a sauce queen and sauce everything but this pulled pork was so flavorful that I ate it plain!!! The kale slaw was also a star of the meal. My husbands ribs were also amazing. We also had a piece of pie because they have an assortment of fresh pies. The stars of the meal were the kale slaw pulled pork and ribs… Often I leave restaurants in Fort Myers disappointed because the food is just ok. Finally there is a restaurant that I will return to when Im craving comfort food. Run to this hidden gem for the food not the atomosphere.

This Farmer’s Market Restaurant is pretty good. Servers and Cooks and just all the employees/staff were very friendly. They all treat you with hospitality and kindness. Food is like all home made it’s so good. Michelle was our waitress and she was very polite and nice. If you ever get a chance and your out in the area, stop in and try it. Restaurant is very clean too. I enjoyed it a lot. :)

I grew up in FL, but now live on the West Coast and really miss good, Southern cooking. I stopped in to the Farmer’s Market for lunch today and at 7pm, I’m still thinking about the fried chicken. It was perfectly crispy(with just-right breading) on the outside, and melt-in-your-mouth tender on the inside. Truly great! The chicken comes with three sides and after a tough call from the extensive options, I chose the lima beans, sweet potato fries and fried green tomatoes. They were all delicious! The vibe the restaurant was casual and cute, and the service was spot on. I just wish I had saved room for dessert!

This is a nice not so little place for delicious southern country comfort food. Portions are HUGE!, they don’t skimp filling your plate. I like the fried chicken, so crispy and juicy, but they have everything: fried green tomatoes, corn, vegetables, collard greens with bacon, beans, corn bread and a full selection of pies! Service is good, prices are low, not trendy or anything but a very good place for breakfast, lunch or early dinner.

Loved the down home vibe. Not too fancy just really good food. Just finished eating here. Got the Pulled Pork dinner with Sweet Potato and Broccoli. Corn bread was also delish. Service was great and speedy. Two thumbs up!

Delicious Southern specialties like chicken-fried steak. Very low-key atmosphere(actually, none), and just the way I like it.

Delicious southern country cookin’ made with fresh ingredients. Fried chicken was crunchy with a bacon like flavor. Ate here and came back next day because it was so good. Fresh baked rolls, cornbread & pies, and excells in veggies. I ate mustard greens, collards, black eyed peas, okra stewed with tomatoes, fried green tomatoes, cabbage– all homecooked goodness. It’s an unpretentious southern country vibe popular with locals, which is a good sign. No one looked like Florida tourist. A rare authentic gem that honors local food culture. A shame not many restaurants like this in South Florida.

Great food & reasonable priced. In the older part of Fort Myers and kind of small building. But don’t let the building fool you, it’s GREAT food!

This restaurant is a small cute little restaurant with homemade pies and meals. We ordered catfish dinner and country fried steak. Both dinners came with 3 sides each. We had macaroni and cheese, cornbread stuffing, steamed cabbage, mashed potatos, and corn fritters. Everything I listed was so yummy and well seasoned. My country fried steak was a huge portion and was so tender. The catfish was amazing too. Everyone in that building was the sweetest people ever. I had sweet potato pie for dessert and it was nice and warm. The pie crust was so delicious I wanted the whole pit but my resulotion for 2016 was to only eat a slice at a time not a whole pie. Its a great place to check out enjoy!

My wife is from Atlanta Georgia and cooks southern food, great cook delicious! We tried this place and it was better than eating at Paula Dean’s restaurant, no joke the food was so awesome I will be eating there at least twice a week the people are great and their food is unbelievable take my word for it. Homemade everything plus delicious homemade pies! Can’t wait to go back

Nice homey restaurant with friendly staff. Good selection of southern comfort food and fried chicken is well worth waiting for. Love the coleslaw with a slightly sweet taste and bread – between the corn muffins and the rolls will tempt you.

This place was around when I was a kid, so it is definitely a Fort Myers institution. Here’s what you need to know: Place: older, packed, and most people were older than 65. Menu: southern favorites: grits, bacon, eggs, etc. Oatmeal. Pricing: on the low end Service: overall, poor. I did get two refills on coffee. It took 30 minutes to get food, and then it came out five minutes apart for three different people. But, perhaps it was slow due to the lack of help, and the large number of people in the place. This is go to place for many in Fort Myers. If you are looking for high-end, fancy, etc., go elsewhere. This is low-key, take your time, chat with your table mates type of place.

Omg bacon. OMG coffee. One of the last places in Florida where it feels like old Florida is still here. Wish the staff was still the same but I know, times change. The veggie plate is awesome and the fried chicken rocks.

By the number of locals, cops and firefighters enjoying breakfast, this is a great place. The coffee is fresh, tasty and servers are quick with refills. The food is delicious. We visited twice and tried a number of breakfast items. All were delicious. Do not miss the crispy thick cut bacon. The cooking style is southern. The chalk board special was chicken fried steak, gravy and biscuits. Service is friendly, fast and professional. There’s plenty of off street free parking. My only regret is not coming back for lunch. There was an enormous four compartment wood fired smoker parked in front. REGRET: I wish we’d returned to sample whatever the pros had cooking. The sign said pulled pork. There’s also a nice selection of pies in the glass cooler. It’s seat yourself. There is counter service. Pay at the register. Credit cards are accepted. This is the kind of local flavor I value Unilocal for.

In the mood for a Southern home-cooked meal? You don’t have to pay a lot to get a LOT of food here. Some of the entrees come with your choice of three sides. Trust me, you won’t leave here hungry. They should keep a wheelbarrow on hand to help people get to their cars! Suggestion: As one of your sides, order the collard greens and ask for their Carolina vinegar. Soak the greens in the vinegar. Eat up. Also, I recommend the sweet corn nugget things. Also, the mac and cheese. Also… pretty much everything on the menu. I’ve never had a bad meal here. It’s all homemade. I’ve been going back for years and will continue to do so. Oh yeah, good prices too. Food: A Service: B Décor: C

GREATSOUTHERNSTYLEDINER We had an excellent breakfast here. I had the Whitefish with eggs, toast and cheese grits. The fish was fresh and just perfect, as were the other items as well. My wife had eggs, toast, bacon & grits. Also good and the bacon was three delicious thick strips. I know this place has been around for a long time, but it is a true«find» for us. Warning: they display political posters of tea party candidates. Not cool.
