Exhausted as we were from the Liberty Belle Pirate Takeover, our pirate party took to Fort Lauderdale Beach to continue the fun. We had to end YSB Day 3 with the ultimate after party. We started at Elbo room, where ironically there was little elbow room for us pirates.(Lim’s joke, which I admittedly stole). There was a live band playing, but I never made it into the ropes here. Elbo room was a great starting location since it was close to the parking lot and it made it easy for the pirates to reconvene. There was even an ever-so-appropriate parrot appearance. Cool dive bar to hang at, but we needed more space. So we headed to 5 o clock at Charlie’s. I love the vibe and music here, but did not love the temperature – it was like a sauna! Please turn up(or on) the A/C! I got a comment in the bathroom that our pirate party was intimidating. Don’t worry there was no pillaging or plundering of innocent bystanders. Before we melted away, we made our way to Rock Bar. Rock Bar thankfully had a huge empty air-conditioned dance floor/bar. Plus a stripper pole. And the DJ was playing great dancing music. Winner! Rock Bar is one of those beachfront restaurants that serves those huge mixed drinks with beers sticking out of them. For that night, Rock Bar was our dance floor. There is one thing that was missing from YSB thus far: Pickle backs!!! At this point, the trek to Mcsorleys required a drive so we lost a few pirates along the way. Those that did make it enjoyed some pickle backs. There was some drunken Unilocal messaging and we discovered that Somali pirate gear is acceptable bar attire, yet Hiram’s regular clothes are not. One day I vow I will get a round of pickle backs for Allen, but somehow he had the bartender on his side. This was the best end to the barghh crawl and we finally called it quits. I think from now on in life any bar crawl should be costumed or it won’t live up to this night.

Ah, since I was all dressed up as a pirate, I might as well get my money’s worth. LOL! I mean, how often do I get the chance to dressed up as a pirate and bar-hopping with maybe 20 other pirates? This one I can not miss! So the first stop was the Elbo room. I have been here a few times before and its basically the iconic dive bar of Fort«Liquordale». Its not much to look at from the outside but there’s plenty going on inside. The live band was playing rock music where the DJ was blasting hip-hop music in the bar upstairs. The staff were pretty friendly and they took good care of us. But I am pretty sure the security guard must be thinking: where the heck did these people came from? It was a riot! The pictures a few pirate mates took with the parrot was particularly a nice touch! LOL After I had one beer we moved on to the next stop: 5 O’clock Charlies. I have never been here before, nor I notice there is a bar in one of those alleys just a few blocks south of Elbo Room. Its got a cool band playing outside while people were enjoying their drinks inside. I’ve never been here before so I don’t know whats like on an average night, but on this night the AC seems to be out and it was hot as hell. The bartenders took forever to get my drink but it was a very busy night so I kind of understand. I tried not to mixed my alcohols too much so I ordered another beer. I wish I was as young as the other pirate mates but after this stop, I had to bail out and called it quits. But this night was out of control. I haven’t had this much fun in one night for a while. Thanks to the UYE organizer Savanna M for getting the groups together. This night was epic and an UYE classic!!!

What’s better than showing up at a bar with 30 friends? Doing it while in costume! And despite it being another hot Florida night in full on sweaty pirate gear we made the best of it. The evening started off at Elbo Room, one of Fort Lauderdale’s oldest dive bars. After grabbing a drink and taking pictures with an actual parrot! a few of us moved down to 5 O’clock Charlies hoping to grab some more drinks and change up the music. Problem was, 5 O’clock Charlies was even hotter lol, so we followed the other half of the group back up to Rock Bar which was nicely air conditioned! Plus we had the inside to ourselves, so it was time to get wild. Rumor has it some lookalike pirate strippers even showed up and dominated the pole! I don’t have any pictures, so not sure how true this rumor is lol ;). After that the men became separated from the boys with the men headed onwards to McSorleys and the boys calling it quits for pizza. Put me in the infant category because I tapped out and headed home to bed lol. Point is, this was an insanely fun time. If you’re looking to do a crawl bar crawl in costume, look no further than your fav 30 Unilocalers, because we’ll happily go along!

I guess this was my first Unilocal after party. I was impressed with how people like Savanna and Greshka who put so much time and effort into planning and attending every pre party, party, and post party were not only still standing but leading the way with so much excitement. It was super cool how many people came out afterward to have a good time. The first stop was at The Elbow Room. I had not been inside of here for over a decade. It felt like it was a place that had stood still for that long because it was virtually unchanged. It started great as I received a wristband because my age seemed to be on the fence; so thank you for that! Elbow Room is a classic dive bar and with that comes great prices and usually a good band. I was really impressed with the band playing all kinds of early 90’s tunes and an insane remake version of Warren G’s «Regulate». The upstairs was going strong with a DJ playing some classic 80’s hip hop music. I could have stayed here all night! The next stop was at Rock Bar. I had never been here before. Somehow or another, it felt like there were even more Unilocalers at this spot than Elbow Room. The inside went from being completely empty to totally overtaken by wild Unilocalies. Savanna kicked things off as she made a bee line for the stripper pole and was instantaneously half way to the top of it! Lots of good times and dancing here. The pub crawl needed to continue on with an Über ride which I wasn’t interested in taking so we headed over to Beach Place to keep things going. I’ll have to check in with the group to find out how they enjoyed McSorleys. Awesome night!
