This is my go-to Publix. It’s adjacent to some of the lower income areas of Fort Lauderdale, so you’ll see some unpleasantness there. Once an obese lady in a mobility scooter, trail of kids behind her, got in a screaming match with another customer. Another time, an old lady in the parking lot asked me to buy her a chicken. I agreed but then she followed me through the store to be sure I got her the fried one. Parking can be tough. This store was recently rebuilt on the site of an old Publix, so they used every square foot. I’m there so often, I make up back stories for the regular employees. There’s the MILF manager, the other manager who played«Buzz» in Home Alone; the cute little undercover security chick, the gay cashier who invites me into his checkout lane when I’m half done shopping, and the skinny cashier whom I seem to make nervous for some reason. It’s fine for everyday stuff. If I want something important like a nice steak or seafood, I’ll go to the one in the Harbor Shops where they have better quality and selection. For people watching and staples, this one is pretty good.

It’s a publix so for the most part it’s standard like the rest. This one has no salad bar and is small compared to other publix. Parking can be a pain in the ass if crowded like others have said. Only a few checkouts going at once and no self checkouts at all. Seems to be kept relatively clean all the times I have gone in. The deli and sandwich part are always busy it seems.

Another business I grew up with. Since it was rebuilt I can say that I am a bit disappointed with the building and the parking lot. It is usually always a hassle trying to find somewhere to park. And it’s a little disappointing that it does not have a pharmacy. Not to mention inconvenient. Although there is a pharmacy across the street from here. Not all accommodations are offered at that pharmacy as most Publix would.

After the encounter with I was really happy to see a nice, clean, relatively new, and familiar looking Publix. I was going to buy the rotisserie chicken, however the box of non breaded, fried chicken wings was begging for me to take them. I just had to. They were succulent, juicy, with thin crispy skin that crunches with every byte. Nom nom. But I guess it’s because the location of this place, the customer seems to like to argue about what’s been charged on their receipt. The ladies in front of me were arguing about $ 2 on their $ 111 purchase with the cashier, saying they were over charged because their calculation comes out to 109. Seriously? They even paid with food stamps. I got annoyed after several minutes and move to another lane, just to find the guy in the front was arguing about the price of a bag of Tyson’s chicken wings. He is saying it was labeled for $ 7.59 on the sign instead of the $ 7.95, yes, a difference of 36 cents. OMG. Anyways, 3 stars is what a normal rating I would give to any standard Publix. Lower if the services is bad or the place is dirty. Higher if they pay me to take their groceries home.
