Divey, laid back, welcoming, low key… nice music and vibes the aesthetics are lacking, as long as you’re not looking for clean cut and upscale, this is a good place to chillax.

Man this place has been home to me since my high school days. (Since 2011) and this has changed alot… but in the sense that it’s only gotten better. Like honestly if you want to feel chilled back, relaxed, and at home this is the place to be. I can’t put it any better then I have in this post.

awesome place. Very chill, bartenders are very nice and explain kava and its effects to you if its your first time. Had the traditional style with pineapple slices. Honestly, felt like i was tasting the earth. idk its something to get used to. Hookah is 15, as someone said and i think 5 for refills. Love the atmosphere, and décor, and they have stacks of games to play while you are relaxing.
After a night at Labare, come try some kava ;)

Chill place, super laid back. Unique place, come here for a unique time. Kyle, max, derek are cool as chill bartenders. Everyone is welcoming.

Amazing place, very cheap prices 15 for hookah, and 3 to 5 buck kavas you can’t beat it. Very cool, chilled atmosphere.

Yup… still a fan of Awa Na Kava and still a regular visitor! They have added a Monday Night «Kava Komedy» open mic night which allows local amateur comedians to practice and showcase their talent. Kavaokee, their version of Karaōke, still takes place on Wednesday’s and everyone is welcomed to participate. The staff is great and in comparison to some of the other places I’ve visited, the kava is by far the best. Strongest and smoothest kava around, plus they serve it chilled and it’s in a mixer so it is continuously being moved and kept fresh. I can’t say enough good things about this place, the staff and the people that go there. Cool vibes, interesting people, and you’ll always find someone interesting to talk to. Let them know «Tricky Rick» sent you and maybe I’ll get a free shell! Buuuula!!! (Fijian chant which means to live and is often said before consuming a shell) Try their flavors out if pure kava is not your thing.

Love this place! The beer good and the staff is friendly. Highly recommend sitting in Megan’s section, she was GReat!

No wonder so many women love this place!!! It’s right next to LaBare Male strip club! Aside from that, its a VERY WELCOMING AND Very friendly environment. Its my first time trying Kava, loved the almond joy flavor. Definitely stop by and relax and meet some very friendly locals.

I like this place a lot. Good people, good vibe. Felt welcome the first time I went in and have been back many times. They do have hippies behind the bar, but they seem relatively scrubbed and are competent as servers.
One interesting point: I noticed a lot of jailbait in there while school was out for summer, if that’s your bag. But be careful: They call it jailbait for a reason– you could end up in jail. Be safe and ask the girl for her ID.
Overall it’s a great place to hang out if you like cool people, relaxing vibes, and if you don’t want to spend the next day hungover. Also if you like jailbait.

Super cool and chill place to have kava. Took my parents here after i tried it out with my bf last month. They really enjoyed it. Kava relaxes you and eases your mind. Not a tasty drink but more for the effects. The décor is quite nice too. Very relaxing. Tons of black lights and cool artwork.

Haven’t rated a spot 1 star before. So we got there few mins before 4pm (when the automoated voicemail stated it would be open). No hours were listed on the door… being from out of town there weren’t a lot of option to find hookah at that time of the afternoon. We waited until about 4:30 called the number again and someone picked up and merely said «i’ll give him a call to see where he’s at.» LOL Ok then. Several minutes later a homeless guy stumbled up to the door and opened up. Being unpretentious we strolled in.
The place had a nice chill vibe cool for a hookah bar come to find out they only offer a organic type of hookah. I still ordered. I only smoke starbuzz but thought hey why not try it out. We ordered the blueberry gum flavor, which had zero flavor. It was a waste of $ 12.00. The homeless worker never checked on us until I physically got up and asked about more coal or help to fix the horrible burn taste. The music was beyond wack no idea how to even describe, and there were a few people who stepped outside to smoke some (still) illegal herb right outside the front door. All in all won’t visit again.
PROS: Casual atmosphere, unique drinks (didn’t try any)
CONS: They don’t know hookah its not a hookah bar in any respect. No service.

I come here semi regularly and this place is awesome! The kava is strong, the people are super friendly and welcoming to everyone. If you want to experience a cool bit of Fort Lauderdale, and make new friends without the obnoxious (alcohol) bar crowd, THIS is the place to go. The kava bar tenders will happily answer any questions you have and you’ll enjoy a unique experience!

Boola! First time in a Kava bar, first time trying Kava… What a great experience!!! I can see how it is an acquired taste, but I liked it. I imagine it’s like opera or sushi… You will love it or hate it, BUT def. worth it because it’s so good for you!
If the taste of Kava is not your thing, they have Coffee & Yerba Mate too. The atmosphere and THE PEOPLE are incredible. They made me feel right at home. The nice gentleman behind the bar, not only schooled me on the Kava root but also walked a beginner through her first steps. LIVE A LITTLE! GO TRY KAVA!!! At the very least you will learn a new word — boola!

Relaxing and laid back. If you’re looking for a chill night with a few buds for some hookah and kava this place is where you would want to be.

Pros: The atmosphere is awesome! Well, this depends on who you are as a person. I’m a free spirit and like going with the flow and it was perfect for me. There are books, board games, darts, hookah, kava, guitars and even long boards. I would avoid if you’re uppity or a neat freak because it seems a little cluttered, but it’s perfect for the artistic souls. I liked the décor and our server was friendly. People seem pretty chill also — I don’t feel like anyone here is judgmental and it’s very nice.
Cons: It’s a smaller space. When I came in a month or so ago it was later on a Saturday night, so maybe I should have planned better but there was barely any seating and people had to move to make space on the bar so my friend and I could sit (but like I said, they were very friendly there). Anywho, the hookah was definitely not for me. It went harsh pretty quickly and the shisha quality was not very good (sidenote: I am an avid hookah smoker. If you smoke less than once a month, you will probably not notice). It was a cheaper brand and I believe it was tobacco-​less, which yes, is better for you, but the taste was not very good. Besides that, I did not try the kava. The kava was in a sort of dispensable machine so I’m not sure I would’ve dug it too much as I feel that the experience should be more natural.
Either way, I would come back and if you’re on the fence, just go check it out for yourselves! I still enjoyed my time here.

Very unique. Laid back chill atmosphere can turn to fun and frivolity in 2.9 seconds. Open mic and karaōke is fun and entertaining. Watch for geocaching and cowbells. Family Feud, Would You Rather and other interesting game shows like you have never experienced…
