NO absolutely do not choose H&R Block! Try Hometown Tax Services in Gowrie or a more reputable place than here. First of all, they cannot provide any quote or range of any kind. Other CPA and taxes prep services will at least give a range. Secondly, they do not explain anything about their fee structure until they are DONE with your tax return. It is by form so if you lived in more than one state, had W2s from multiple states, 1099s and 1098s that is money in their pockets because all of these cost. They charge PER FORM! SO don’t be like me and choose H&R Block just to find out that for 1 HOUR of work they get $ 282 of your hard earned money! 1 HOUR obviously it was not that complicated why is it so expensive. Then when you complain, at least the woman I talked with on the phone, points out that you, the consumer whom they won’t give a quote to, should know better. Their people go to COLLEGE to learn how to prepare taxes. Excuse me ma’am, I have a Masters’ just because I do not understand the complicated tax code of the United States Government does NOT mean I am stupid. My tax preparer was nice enough but she is getting bank for an hour of work. So yes, I seriously think now. On the positive their cooperate customer service really takes your opinion seriously so they send an online survey and someone called me. Sorry H&R Block that does not make up for riping people off and being rude to them when being riped off upsets them. BEWARE of H&R Block. I will completely avoid anything to do with them in the future. I am telling all of my friends and my community how much they do not serve us.
