Wonderful trail with a lovely waterfall at the end. Trail was moderately easy and would work well for active older adults and children. Dogs allowed. I recommend going to both the top of the falls and to the bottom. Relatively short trail at just a couple miles I think.

You can go either to the waterfall or up to the peak, which will take about double the time, but it is totally worth it. The right side of the mountain is more easily accessible, and can be accessed by pets, kids, etc. I recommend the left side that offers some low-moderate bouldering. The path is well paved and the nature is awesome. I have been to the peak and the falls on multiple occasions and it is always worth it!

Great place for a moderate hike. The hike is about 5 miles. It had a bit of an incline but for the most part it was pretty flat. We found it pretty enjoyable. We brought sandwiches to enjoy half way up the hike. We were able to find a nice rock that provided a great view to enjoy the sandwiches. I highly recommend it if you’re looking for a quick hike. It will probably take around 1 – 3 hours depending on how fast you are going and how many stops you make.

I’m a bit embarrassed that I’ve lived in Fort Collins for about a decade and I’ve only been here once. Plenty of parking, clean bathrooms, and wide open spaces. Grab the kiddos and take a short walk or an all-afternoon hike on one of the many trails. Whatever the kiddos stamina will take. We paid $ 6 for a one-day permit. Do yourself a favor and purchase the parks and open space on the Larimer County website at: or at local shops. It’ll pay for itself on only a couple visits. Bike, horseback, or your own two feet, you are going to like Horsetooth. Pack it in, pack it out, and support public open spaces!

Really cool park, which I imagine would be really beautiful on a warm, sunny day. We hiked the short loop to the lower part of Horsetooth Falls. It was too foggy that day to see Horsetooth Rock, so we skipped that since it’s a longer hike. The trail to Horsetooth Falls is really easy, pretty flat, little incline and about 2.5milles round trip. The waterfall was a trickle right now, so I wouldn’t recommend going if you are expecting gushing waters. I think by summer, when the snow melts a little more, then the waterfall is going to be really awesome.
