I have been to this range a few times and, to be honest, I’ve been to better outdoor ranges. The complex is clean, spread out, and easy to maneuver. When you enter the complex, you head to the main office trailer to sign in, pay your range fee(very cheap, $ 5 I believe, I can’t remember), and purchase anything else you may need for your day at the range(targets, target stand, ammunition, eye protection, ear protection, etc.). Pros– — If you forget your ammo /targets /eye /ear protection you can purchase at the main officer trailer. Cons– — The«range safeties» run the range as if they are in the military. I don’t want to shoot on a range that reminds me of being on active duty, I want to have fun. — The range safeties have a 20⁄10 rule, 20 minutes of shooting then 10 minutes of cease fire. You can not fire at will like other outdoor ranges I have visited. — The range lanes are VERY close to one another– I don’t know what training(if any) the man /woman next to me has had on their weapons. Unless I get the last firing line, away from other firers, I will wait before entering. — You must buy your own target stand, if you want, you can take your stand home with you and bring it back each time you visit the range. — The range safeties are pushy, rude, and often go off on ‘power-trips’. If you’re looking for a range that is more work than fun– then this is the range for you. If you’re looking for a range where you get your own firing line and can shoot freely without mandatory«breaks» then you need to go elsewhere.

Awesome range. Range officers run a tight ship, and I REALLY appreciate that. When I was there with my daughter, this d1ckhead guy showed up and was getting froggy, just putting up his target and being impatient with his ugly girlfriend because she was having trouble forming a tight group. The RO took him aside and explained the rules A SECONDTIME to him. I have no patience for @$$holes on the range, and neither do this guys. Plus the range is super clean. Only complaint, and I understand 100% it is a safety issue, is no .300 win mags allowed. I did not ask about muzzle loaders. There’s .50 cal prohibition as well, but I wonder if that is just center fire. All in all, this place is 5 stars plus.

I’ve only been to this range once but would absolutely recommend it to anyone needing a good, clean range to shoot at. It’s located almost on Fort Carson(near Gate 20) and you’ll think you’re going on post but will turn left at the last turnaround before actually going on to Fort Carson. Do yourself a favor and DONOT go onto Fort Carson with your weapons and ammunition. I don’t recall the range fee, but it was reasonable. They do offer military(and other) discounts to those with valid credentials. There is plenty of signage stating this, but people do it anyway. DONOT take your weapons into the shack where you check in and pay your fees. Range was clean. The Safety Officers were hands-off enough. I would not hesitate to go back.

This is a very professional range. Safety comes first here. As new hunters, my sister and I were nervous about going to a range alone. The rangers at Cheyenne Mountain have always been very helpful without making us feel intimidated. It helps to have a place us girls can go and feel comfortable with to build shooting confidence. Thanks to all the guys at the range that helped make our hunting season a success!

Range Safety Officers and Management are the BEST! Feel VERY safe here and everyone is super friendly! The staff goes out of their way to make every visit the best it can be. I love to bring the whole family out!

Top notch staff. Range is 100% safe and inviting for new shooters to learn. I would hesitate to come back myself or with family and friends. They are adding additional features and are always inquiring on how they can enhance the experience, which I see as a fine attribute to any business. Recommended.

Took my 15-year-old daughter and 14-year-old son here for their first shooting experience, and it was my first visit to this range. Convenient location, easy to find, and massive facility… more than 150 individual firing positions. Office staff was friendly and informative, and the prices are reasonable. Range safety personnel were strictly business, no-nonsense folks and that’s exactly how I like them. Safety first! We stayed a couple hours, simply putting rounds downrange to orient my teenagers to two different weapons. This is a great range with good people running things. We’ll be back.

The security people are amazingly helpful and wonderful. Being female and learning felt very comfortable. Great date place to go, outdoors and rev things up.

Finally El Paso County has a reputable, SAFE, and affordable range(I’m not bashing the private clubs — they’re just expensive for a recreational shooter). This is the place to go if you’re not a fan of drunk idiots firing rounds willy-nilly in the woods.

Shot at this range a couple of weeks ago. Staff all very professional and still friendly. Safety is their number one concern and they ensure that every individual on this range is following rules and being courteous. Highly impressed. Huge facility and we were able to shoot to our heart’s content. Prices are reasonable and for a new shooter like myself they made me feel comfortable the entire time. We’ll be back again and again.

I will absolutely never pay to shoot anywhere else. This place can will and does fulfill ALL of your target practice needs. Gunny went above and beyond to help me zero in my scope. This is a 5+ star shooting range. 1,000,000 times better then others around.

I’m new to shooting and have been to a handful of ranges, but CMSC has been the best of the bunch. It’s very wide open, very clean and they offer a bunch of nice conveniences like staple guns so you can attach a target to a frame. The entry fee is also extremely reasonable and they offer a lot of various discounts for active duty and DOD civilians. The Safety Officers are absolutely NOT pricks. In fact, two of them helped me make adjustments to my stance and grip that made a world of difference in my shooting accuracy. Those guys are extremely knowledgable and ready to offer help if you need it. The only time I saw them confront anyone was if that person was clearly violating the rules and causing a potential safety issue. Overall, I had a really positive experience and look forward to making this my go-to shooting range for as long as I am in Colorado Springs.

Our first time at this wonderful shooting range… we used 357 and 22 pistols. the Safety Officer helped me get started and oiled a jammed weapon for us. Our experience was loads of fun and we will go back.

This place far surpasses any other shooting range in the city. They have over a hundred covered shooting positions allowing you to shoot absolutely anything at almost any distance you’ll need. At 7 bucks for active military and 2 dollars for the target stand you can’t beat the prices. The safety’s on the line are a little on edge so be careful because they can be a bunch of pricks. You can shoot out to a thousand yards here so this is my go to place to dial in my more expensive rifles. If you want to stay closer to home and don’t feel like dealing with the SUPERPRICKS at Dragon Man’s than I highly recommend you come here.
