I had been sick and was feeling better so we decided to go for a ride. Good food I had chicken dinner my husband had steak. Fast friendly service. And the soup was delicious.

We went for the family style chicken dinner. It was fair. Here’s our thoughts: The service was very slow, we had a 45 minute wait on a Friday evening, when we got seated it took at least 20 minutes from the time we placed our order, until the food came out. The chicken was dry, salad was blah, fries had no seasoning(pretty blah as well), pasta was barely warm, didn’t care for the sauce, cinnamon rolls were tasty but the dough was hard(like it had been sitting out for a long time). We asked for white meat chicken and they charge an additional $ 2 for that, even though it’s family style. They also have a soup bar included and their special of the evening was chicken and rice soup, or corned beef and cabbages soup(obviously left over from St. Patty’s day). Neither soup had any flavor whatsoever. Won’t go back here, I would prefer wrights chicken farm over this place any day!

This place might have been nice once upon a time but the menu has really suffered & the staff are rude. Even owner’s kid is rude(now an adult & involved with the restaurant. The quality of the food is incredibly poor. 25 years ago this place was great. Now I would advise that if anyone wants to have a decent dining experience, please avoid this place!

I don’t go often, but when I have I’ve always had good service & good food. I highly recommend the chicken Vermont. It’s very good.

My Favorite Family Style If you don’t know what family style chicken is, here’s the low down. For 12 bucks you get all you can eat backed chicken, ziti pasta, french fries, salad, and cinnamon rolls. The food is brought to you in large bowls and it keeps coming until your full. I think it’s a RI thing, because you don’t see this meal many other places. Now in the area, there’s 3 main places to get this meal. Wright’s Farm, the most famous, The Pines, and The Haven. I like all 3, but in my opinion The Haven does it the best. This is a regular sit down restaurant with large tables for parties, because you tend to see family get togethers happening here. They have a full bar and you can get pitchers of soda for the kids, who pay half price. Tip: Don’t overeat, you’ll feel awful after. Thanks

Wasn’t really impressed with the fish I had… so if your going stick to what they are known for… yes the chicken.

Great food. The chicken was moist and tasty. Loved the fries and pasta was made just right. I won’t pass up a chance to come back here.

This is a place that expectations should be managed. The style is way out of date. The tables are cheap along with the chairs. But its a family place that if you bring your kids its still good. The steak I had was excellent. Service was fast and friendly. The price was great. If I am in the area I will try it again.

Great place to eat. They have a full menu, and they also have family style chicken which is served with pasta, salad, french fries, and cinnamon rolls. Chicken was really tasty, fries were not greasy and cooked really well, salad was a normal lettuce, tomato, but the dressing was really good. Pasta is served with a tomato sauce with meat in it, the sauce tasted like it came from a can, but, was still good. After having refills on chicken and fries we were all stuffed, then they bring you ice cream for dessert. The only bad thing is they charge you for refills on soda.

I had a great experience there tonight. I just know not to order any seafood dish. Especially at a restaurant that specializes in chicken. Except for the coconut shrimp that I ordered for a appetizer, that was good. My mom and brother ordered steak and they said it was to die for. The only thing is that I will not go out of my way to go back. I had a get together there tonight, and that is the only reason why I went. To anyone who lives in the area or near the restaurant, I suggest you go there. Or even if you happen to be in the area, go there.

We’ve been twice in the past few months and this second visit confirmed it for me that we won’t be back. The building and décor are tired. The menu is not terribly imaginative. The service was very slow(I don’t blame the waitress — she was not getting any help and had way too many table to handle and still do a good job). Even those cinnamon rolls that we usually love were sub par(the outer edge was HARD — either stale or overdone, I’m not sure which). My parents enjoyed their oven-baked sea scallops and baked stuff shrimp and the family-style chicken dinner was fine… bit people get family style so that they can get seconds of pasta and fries and chicken. We had to wait so long, we forgot what we were waiting for. Next time, we’ll make the trek to Wright’s Farm.

Meh. Everything about village haven was meh. Nothing special in any of it, from the décor to food. Décor was like grandmas country rooster kitchen, the tables look like you should be playing bingo, not eating. We did their«special chicken deal» that everyone raved about and it included soup(meh), salad(good dressing but a little soggy), and bread and ‘cinnamon buns’ that were all cold. The chicken was good, I’ll give them that, but the pasta was bland and the fries were terribly plain. I feel like I could have those straight from the freezer. The worst part? No drink/soda is included and they charge for every refill. Whhyyy?! Sorry village haven, but we will not be back.

Went to this place for a Family Reunion on Sunday, October 19, 2014 of 40 people. All the food was mediocor at best. In no way can this place compete with Wrights Farm. Sorry guys, chicken was dry with no flavor, fries were ok, pasta wasn’t anything special, cinnamon buns were good when they came out hot but that’s as far as it goes. Btw, all 10 people at my table agreed on the same so it wasn’t just me!

My family has been going here for years and it is our preferred place to go for family style chicken. The staff is great and the food is consistently excellent. From the crisp salad with their tangy house dressing to homemade cinnamon rolls, always fresh chicken, pasta and french fries(never frozen and sometimes the best part of the meal), we have never been disappointed. And you want to try something different, they offer a full menu with many other options as well. In fact, I saw many people this past Friday going for the Fish and Chips so they must be doing something right there as well. There are plenty of options when searching for family style chicken in northern RI. Fortunately for us, the decision is a no brainer as you really can’t go wrong with the Haven.

I have been coming here since childhood! The food is amazing and we have never gotten anything but the family style chicken. I’m a cinnamon roll addict and the Village Haven makes the best. I want to touch on something very important to me: Customer Service Since my family and I have been coming here for years, we’ve seen it all. On our latest visit we had an issue with the patricians that separate tables. They can be a bit wobbly if you mess around with them and we had a particularly rambunctious toddler on the other side. WHY her parents didn’t take care of the situation… I have no clue. Anyway, she practically knocked the entire patrician over onto our table. She kept disrupting our dinner, so my Mom said something to the toddlers Mother. That did nothing. Then an angry waitress came over and reprimanded us for moving our table a bit so we didn’t get crushed. She wasn’t our waitress, she was theirs. We were applauded. So we asked for the owner, who is a familiar face. She came right over and apologized, said the young waitress was new and that she was spoken to. We stressed we did not want to get her in any trouble and the owner assured us it was handled delicately. She also thanked us for letting her know and mentioned that it is a family run business(with her 11 children) and that there is nothing she prides herself more on than customer service. She’s amazing. Amazing food, even better service. * I’d like to make a note though… it can be a very noisy establishment. there’s a lot going on.

Not sure what else can be said about this place, either you get it and love it or you don’t. For years my family drove down from Worcester to go to Wright’s, then I moved to RI and found about about the Village Haven! We all agree their food is tastier, the atmosphere is better, and hn my god I love those cinnamon rolls. My only negative comment is that the free meal certificates they send you for your birthday is a waste, only can be used for up to $ 10.00 and the chicken meal is $ 10.50, does anyone get anything other then the chicken here???

You CAN’T BEATTHISPLACE!!! Sorry«Wrights», but I would rather eat in a place that is like a restaurant, then eat in a place that looks like a MESSHALL!!! The chicken is so juicy and so tasty, the salad is CRUCNCHYANDTASTY unlike Wrights that I swear soaks thier salads overnight in the dressing YUCK! The fries are never greasy and are always hot when they are brought to the table, They have the best cinnamon rolls ever! The pasta is so so, but all in all the waitstaff is prompt, they are always making sure you have a beverage, and they are all around nice. Great place to get AYCE Chicken at a great price!!!

Small town home cooking. A hidden gem if you ask me. Full bar if you please. Variety of choices on the menu, although I have only tried«Family Style Chicken» and the Chicken Parm. If you eat early, like me :) you can buy the chicken parm dish as an early bird special. One less chicken breast and about 3 dollars cheaper. A great delicious deal. If you are bringing locusts with you to dine, everyone should just get the«Family Style Chicken» dinner. It consists of soup, salad, cinnamon rolls/dinner roll, pasta with sauce, french fries and roasted chicken… all you care to eat. And dessert is a Hershey Ice Cream Cup… felt like a kid, without the little wooden paddle spoon. :) Unlike some other places, this family style chicken dinner didn’t hurt my stomach. I like that they cook the pasta al dente :) Fast friendly service, good food and CASUAL atmosphere will have me coming back.

I’ve been going to this restraunt since I was a little kid. It’s a great low cost, fullbelly night for a family of any size. The Manager/Owner is always onsite, usually seating, greeting guests ect. Food is plentiful. Family style chicken is what they are known for. Meal starts with rolls and thier famous cinnamon sticky buns and salad, followed by the chicken, pasta and french fries. You can replace the mixed chicken with all white meat for a few dollars more. Or you can have pork i believe, instead of chicken all together… And it’s all you can eat. If you remember back to the 90’s they used to serve ice cream by the slab, covered in fudge, I definitely miss that, but they still offer hershy’s at the end of the meal. The staff is pleasant, but can sometimes be overwhelmed, resulting in having to ask for things a couple of times. However, the owner/manager is kind and she is always willing to talk, and gladly takes any comments, or complaints. Serves a couple with beverages, around 25 – 30 dollars.
