First time I was here was some afternoon when nobody else was there. The dude whips out a giant whole salmon and starts cutting for the evening meals. I saw the whoole fish folks, its as fresh as it gets! Been going back ever since. Always a great experience. And those fried jalapeño appetizers? omg. amazing.

I really love it here, close to home, amazing and cheap… The sushi chef is amazing at what he does and makes beautiful sushi! I’m always wanting to go here! I love that my kids love it also! We won the lottery with this place

Great, fresh, delicious sushi and sashimi! I am from southern California and have tasted top quality sushi before. When I moved to forest park, I couldn’t believe I found a sushi place that was comparable to the ones at home. Best part is this place is a 5 min walk from my apartment! Been many times and experience was great every single time. I’ve tried other sushi places around the area and a few in Chicago… and Fuji Grill tops them all.

There are a handful of sushi options in the OP/FP area but Fuji Grill is our go-to sushi joint. Great service and great food. It usually pretty quiet so it is easy to get in and get out without much wait. I think it gets lost due to being next to a Super Cuts in a strip mall, but they make great sushi!

It was by pure chance that my gf and I drove around to find a different shushi bar and we saw this … Small place to begin with, not very appealing neighborhood but OHBOY !!! As soon as i tasted their Godzilla, i was sold! Been coming back again and again and again — different orders each visit and everytime it’s always tasty, I’m so mean I always compare this place to every sushi bar we go to — nothing beats this place… Great service, very friendly/polite staff, awesome hot towel(they’re the only one who serve it first), awesome CHEF very friendly, too — price is just appropriate for the awesome food they serve — if i can give 100 stars I would !!!

My fiancée and I were looking for a place to celebrate a nice occasion, and it had been a while since we enjoyed decent sushi. I have come across Fuji Grill several times on Unilocal reviews but never really had an opportune time to try it. Finally, I had a reason to go. We decided to leave a bit early and arrived at the restaurant at about 5 pm on a Monday. It was relatively quiet with about one other patron in the room. We were attended to quite quickly and given menus. The nice waitress brought us waters and took our orders of the sashimi dinner, chirashi, spider roll, toro nigiri, and grilled beef asparagus. After about five minutes, the waitress came back with a complimentary spicy tuna jalepeno appetizer and informed us that the chef did not want to serve us the grilled beef asparagus appetizer because it did not cook well. My fiancée and I were really impressed that the chef did not want to serve something that he did not think was up to par as most places would probably not have admitted to this. What a humble chef. We then decided to order the tuna tataki. Before we knew it, our orders came flying out of the kitchen. The sashimi was high grade quality and served on top of a bed of mixed greens topped with miso ginger dressing. The chirashi was pretty much a replica of the sashimi dinner but it was served on sushi rice. The only minor critique we had on this was to leave out the saba as it was very fishy. The tuna tataki was perfectly seasoned and grilled expertly with a nice evenly seared exterior and raw interior. The spider roll and toro were really tasty – we only wish there was more! Nearing the end of our meal, the chef surprised us with free mochi ice cream – mango flavor I believe! Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience. Albeit a bit pricey, if you are ever craving sushi and are in the neighborhood, this place is a must.

We stumbled upon this sushi place thanks to the great Unilocal reviews! And it did not disappoint. Fresh sushi, great rolls, and the chef often brings us an appetizer on the house!

I was a little skeptical walking in… But the sushi is great!!! Service was quick. Prices are average for good sushi. Definitely don’t judge the book by the cover here! Oh… And a free appetizer and hot damp towels were added bonuses!

My husband and I have been going here for years– I guess you could call us regulars here. Chef Stefano and the staff are very friendly and attentive. We used to get the bento boxes when they were opened for lunch during the week, but since then have changed their hours. I’ve been to A LOT of sushi places and this tops every single joint — I’ve had most of the rolls on their menu and have yet to chose a roll I did not like. THISPLACEISSOOOUNDERRATED! GRADE A SERVICE, GRADE A SUSHI!!! I recommend: Spicy tuna roll, Real crunch roll, Salmon Teriyaki Bento

I visited on Christmas day, so it was pretty much empty. The décor on the inside was beautiful and our waiter was very kind and attentive-I was surprised because I was talking to my boyfriend about what I wanted to order and I’m very quiet, but the waiter managed to hear what I said! It was impressive. It might have been because it was a slow day, but they gave us jalapeño sushi on the house, and it was one of the best things I’ve ever tasted. When it came to our actual sushi that we ordered, we weren’t disappointed either. We also ordered gyoza as an appetizer and that was great too. Everything was delicious! Definitely visiting again.

I live around the block and drive by this place every day. Great experience. The fish quality is excellent. I’m in the industry. Menu selections are plentiful with the chefs specials oh so tasty! Love this place. They will see me a lot more. Friendly atmosphere. Chef has a great handle on flavors! Outstanding! A must stop on Harlem avenue with parking! It wouldn’t disappoint.

I really enjoy my miso soup and lunch box today. I finished everything in the box, literally. Even the wasabi and that sweet ginger. Plus Super friendly waitress. I’ll definitely come back.

Don’t let appearances fool you! I thought this place was going to be disappointing when I saw it in a strip mall, but it certainly exceeded my expectations. Service — Waitress was super friendly, and the sushi chef was awesome! He sent out two dishes on the house(jalapeño pepper tuna and two pieces of fresh tuna). Appetizer — I loved my miso soup, albeit the salad was a little heavy on the sauce. Main Course — I ordered five rolls(went a little overboard): spicy salmon, fuji, fire kamikaze, crunchy, and wasabi. The spicy salmon didn’t have as much crunch as other places I’ve eaten at, but the fish was very fresh. Of the rolls, the wasabi roll was my favorite. It had a perfect crunch on the outside and melted in your mouth. Absolute perfection! You should check this place out!

It’s been a while since my last review and here is the update *8.21.2015* Fuji Grill is still my go to spot for the love of all that is sushi and sashimi! Time and time again this place never seizes to please me. The incredible freshness of the fish and excellent vibes makes it feel like I’m dining with friends and family here. So let’s get down to it shall we? Décor: The look and feel of the place is actually quite nice! Inside the place is somewhat traditional Japanese style. The seating is decent but can get crowded during the weekend and busy hours. They do have a sushi bar section where you sit in front of the chef to see the master chef at work which is always fascinating to watch. Overall it is a comfortable place to dine and enjoy your time eating by yourself, or with family or friends.(If you judge a book by its cover… you’re missing out on a lot good things in life my friend…) Food: Now this is what everyone comes for… The food quality here is execellent! Every time I have come here the sashimi has always been fresh! Over the many years of eating sushi my taste for sushi has been very traditional so to speak. I only really like to eat traditional nirigi or sashimi when dining Japanese. Maybe I was lucky every time I went but I have never gotten anything that didn’t taste like it was straight out of the ocean! (Favorite sashimi: Maguro, Hamachi, Sake, Otoro, Saba, Tako) (Favorite nigiri: Toro, Maguro, Hamachi, Sake, Unagi, Masago w/Quail Egg, Saba, Tamago.) Service: The service here for me has always been great. Over the many years I have been dining here I have gotten to be great friends with the chef. The servers always attend to me when needed and really it’s like spending time dining with family. Overall: Overall experience is a great one if you allow it to be! Come in with an open mindset and good attitude and it’ll be a great experience. Don’t come in with a negative attitude because no matter where you go it’s gonna be a negative experience! If you want something majestic and breath taking experience go to Disneyland! But go to Fuji Grill if you want fresh sushi and great company with the chef or with friends/family and you won’t be disappointed!

The bountiful chirashi startled me. Not only did they indulge my special request for sake harasu(salmon belly) sashimi, but they had an excellent selection of beautiful fish in the bowl(but chirashi is the chef’s selection, so it will be different every time). The chef introduced us to hamachi suna-zuri, the belly cut from the yellowtail tuna. Exquisite! I guess freezer technology has gotten so good that a Midwest sushi place can be just as good as New York or San Francisco. The chef and waiter were clear, discreet, helpful and friendly. The place only had three other groups while we were there, and one customer was exceptionally rude, making the chef redo the dish and then walking out with a nasty comment when they still weren’t satisfied with the newly remade meals. Throughout the ordeal, the Fuji Grill staff were calm and respectful, minimizing the impact quite well. Their ability to deftly deal with a situation like that speaks to the high quality of service they provide.

From the last time I reviewed this was few years ago. My husband and I came back to this place for dinner. The sushi we had were much better than the last time I wrote this review. Appreciate the free jalapeño appetizers along with the salmon pieces from the chef. This time around we ordered the Alaskan roll which was decent. We ordered two other rolls but they didn’t have it, so we looked for substitution. I don’t recall the other rolls we had but they were not bad. Service was good. My husband also ordered the udon. it was $ 12 for a small portion and he felt the broth was too salty so he only ate the noodles and drained the water out. Overall decent experience this time around. Definitely not a 1 star. Will return again!

Hands down the best sushi I’ve had ever! I went over a month ago and I can’t remember all the rolls i tried but I will admit that they were all extremely fresh and delicious! The wait can be a bit long since they are made to order and super super fresh but while we waited they sent over these amazing little jalapeños little things that just blew me away! Sweet baby Jesus I know I’m not one for spicy but these little suckers were just too good to pass up! I can’t wait to come back the server was friendly and I loved the décor and atmosphere really cute and quaint.
