We did take out as we were camping at Wm. O’Brien State Park just down the road. The food was excellent & still fairly warm. Quality was still good. Would order take out again. See you again soon!

Always the worst food around. We try every few years thinking that it would get better. Obvious not a trained chef there, just cooks. They can’t even prepare a baked potato! Steak so poor it tastes like liver –sign of an old and poor cut of meat. They only stay around because of local drinkers and few restaurants around.

I love their weekly set-up of one day its Mexican night, and the next it’s all you can eat Cod which by the way is amazing! The reason I give 4⁄5 stars is due to some rude employees.

The log cabin is a always a good choice. The food and service are consistently excellent. My family and I have visited many times and we keep coming back.

Amazing food. Great service. Cheap prices. Great service. Laid back atmosphere. Did I mention great service? Our waitress was phenomenal. HIGHLYRECOMMEND! P. S. Friday night a rack of ribs is $ 13! Best deal in the metro!!!

Great service. Great menu. Cozy décor. Reasonable prices. Fish fry is ridiculously generous. Burgers are juicy and big. Ptarmigan chicken sandwich is my favorite. Real, beer battered cheese curds — not the frozen factory nuggets you get most other places. Even the desserts are great. I don’t get the review from that California guy who thinks the burgers are greasy. What? You want a dry burger? One of my regular go-to places and I’m picky.

The broasted chicken is the best anywhere! The drinks during happy hour are a great value and are good. The atmosphere is casual and comfortable but the chairs are not the best A great place to meet friends they never rush you through the meal great service too!

People rave about this place, but our experience was poor. Greasy burger. Our server was new but had a great attitude. I don’t recommend this place.

I literally grew up coming here. Started my days eating off the little logger menu. On my most recent trip there I got the sandwich called the«Trapper». It’s prime rib on some texas style toast served with au jus and fries. I was really disappointed. I have loved the food here my whole life and the quality has seemed to decline. My beef was almost all fat! I picked at the meat and just ended up eating my toast and fries. My aunt got plain old chicken tenders. They came out so overcooked they literally had a burnt taste to them. This isn’t always the case so I’m hoping they just need to shuffle in a new cook? Must try’s on the menu? –Au gratin potatoes –Dinner rolls –Broasted chicken –Potato ham soup — The Ptarmigan(grilled chicken sandwich with artichoke dip and cheese on top!) Last but not least, try some Key’s cake. Chocolate cake with yummy yummy chocolate/vanilla frosting from the local Key’s Café!

The choices to dine in out in Forest Lake are not that plentiful. I have always wanted to try the Old Log and tonight; finally did. It’s rustic and reminds me of the Iron Skillet in Portage, Wi meets that place they ate at in the Great Outdoors home of the«old 96er. Any place that has broasted chicken, sign me up. We were going to order some broasted to go, but they don’t have to go on the chicken on Saturday nights due to how busy it is. We walked in and while it was busy, the wait was not bad at all. Waited only a few minutes for a table. There are booths and regular tables with the big lumberjack wooden tables. Also a bar with high tops and an outdoor patio. Food: The humongous fungus mushrooms are excellent. Not quite as good as Stanley’s in NE, but a close second. These are nicely battered and good size shrooms. My little one even liked the mushrooms sans the batter. I wound up with the ¼ broasted chicken with broccoli and mashed potatoes and gravy. Chicken was so moist and tasty. The dinner comes with a choice of many sides; salad, soup, slaw, potatoes etc and a roll. My parents both ordered the broiled cod dinner. I’m not a fan of cod, but they both said theirs was good. As was the seafood chowder and coleslaw as their sides. Service was great. Lots of different items on the menu along with different specials during the week to choose from. Would return.

We just ate dinner there for the first time in a couple years. I remember the food as exceptional, however, today my wife and I had the chicken and rib special, and the ribs were terrible, very tough and not really done. We have had ribs there before that were great; very tender and well prepared. I will say the chicken was very good. Needless to say overall we were disappointed.

Good food in Forest Lake. Great sandwiches and nightly specials. Bartenders are quick and will remember you and your preferred drink if you make yourself a regular. Good place for families in the dining room or drinks in the bar. Rustic décor and warm log cabin feel. Lots of yummy appetizers too; this place is in my regular rotation up in this neck of the woods.

The best homestyle American food restaurant that I’ve been to. Big portions and is really cheap. We usually go as a group of 4, have an appetizer, each order dinners and 2 alcoholic beverages apiece and our total bill is around $ 70. My favorites include(but not limited to) Ribs(Friday special), broasted chicken, marinated chicken, broiled walleye. My favorite side is hashbrowns with cheese and onions. Tianna and Lindsay are the best bar staff you’ll find anywhere and they make outstanding drinks. I recommend a Bloody Mary or Long Island. Best advice is to try and sit in the bar. Great atmosphere. Backwoods casual feel. A gem of a place to eat, drink and hang out.

We heard great reviews from coworkers who said«excellent won’t be disappointed», really? Early dinner last Sunday around 4pm. The waitress seated us in the back of restaurant, why? Our waitress was unfriendly & it seemed like a chore to wait on us. a party of 3, who arrived over 10 minutes after our party of 2 was immediately fawned over-guess they can spot the drinkers who spend $$ on booze !?! We both ordered the broiled walleye– under cooked. Au gratin potatoes were quartered baby reds with cheese sauce poured over & heated in microwave. Yuk ! Here is my recipe for au gratin: thinly sliced potatoes and onion layered in a creamy cheese sauce, baked thoroughly & served hot ! Charged $ 0.50 for an extra roll to choke down the meal. I had better food & service at my local Micky D’s. Pass this place by, unless you like booze.

THEYCATERTOO… So here I am at an event at a remote location, a park in Anoka in a pavilion, really nice. It’s time for the food, and a truck pulls up and a couple of gals jump out. They whip all the food out onto a buffet line, tout suite, and it was good. It is hard to keep hot food hot without over cooking it, but everything was perfect. Even the salad was perfect. Plenty of food, cheerfully presented, and satisfying. Comfort food, which is what the Log Cabin does best. So if you are considering using their catering services, DO. I will be just P E R F E C T P E R F E C T P E R F E C T !!!

The menu hasn’t changed in the 15 years since I was last there, and usually that is a bad thing, but in this situation it works. Everything tastes great and it gives you a really neat, unique atmosphere to enjoy as well. The only drawback to us was the price. It isn’t an expensive restaurant by any means but for what the food is, it’s a bit pricey. For lunch, just my wife and I, the bill was almost $ 50, while ordering lunch time fare, other than that, the place was great.

Good, hand battered fish and chips with crispy fries. Cod was a little on the drier side. Could have been slightly overcooked or maybe a little dried out. Fries weren’t hand cut, but still very good. I wish they had fried walleye in addition to cod. They have broiled walleye on the menu, so maybe they would cook it to order, but I didn’t ask. I would go back again.

Very juicy broasted chicken my favorite ! The place has awesome décor and as you would imagine a log cabin feel. The bar area is great to get a drink while you wait for your table. The Bloody Mary’s have beef sticks in them ! But stick with the chicken for dinner and bread pudding for desert.

Hi all! Old Log Cabin has great Augratin Potatoes! Tasty! Being I’m 63 I do have a small hearing issue. Best to pick a more quiet night than a Friday or Saturday Supper time. It can be a bit hard to hear over other conversations. Find the right time and you will like the food. Enjoy! Kathy

The Old Log Cabin is well … a log cabin. A log cabin with food. It sits near the South shore of Forest Lake on Hwy 97. I have been meaning to try this place for a long time. Today was the day. For an appetizer we had the Fungus Humongous. What I thought would be breaded mushrooms turned out to be breaded mushrooms for Paul Bunyan. They were tasty with a nice batter coating. But wow, were they big. Our order had 9 of the shrooms you see in the attached photo. We also ordered burgers and a sandwich. The burgers were a half pound each and tasty. The sandwich was a philly made with prime rib. The meat was great and outshone the toppings(onion, green peppers, and mozzerella cheese). The fries were the coated kind which I really don’t care for, but after those shrooms, I wasn’t going to eat that many anyway. The food was good, the prices were reasonable, and the place was cute. The waitress was friendly and brought us a container for our mushrooms without us even asking. I think Mr. Bunyan would like this place. Considering the steaks and prime rib on the menu, I think Babe would get a bit nervous.
