Came here for a friend’s birthday party! The workers here are very friendly & hilarious. Highly recommended to come here for Hibachi! Came with miso soup, fried rice, vegetables and your choice of(salmon, chicken, scallop, etc…) The chef put on quite an entertaining show while cooking in front of us. Plenty of good laughs, tricks and overall good food! Worth going to with a group of friends or family! Reserve a table if you’re doing Hibachi because there’s only two Hibachi tables!

I haven’t dined in yet but I order their take out sometimes. They have a hibachi grill that dishes out an amazing shrimp fried rice. Make sure you order extra shrimp and egg in it. The spicy tuna avocado roll is pretty good too.

This is my go to spot for sushi in Forest Hills. Always fresh sushi and good service. Prices are reasonable and sushi is traditional. I have been here probably over 30 times.

Having lived around the corner since its inception, I feel qualified in saying that this restaurant is not out to please the customer. I have been here many times out of necessity and the food is generally average. Recently I ordered a vegetable fried rice that arrived to the table smelling of burnt lard. I discussed with the manager and was shocked when she told me that she and the chef tasted it and they would not remove it from our bill. She was very nasty and self righteous. For a lousy $ 7.95 dish, they have lost a longeterm customer and extended family. Trust me, I have had many a fried rice and this was disgusting. The manager could not care less and over a few dollars would rather lose customers. Say sianara to narita!

Came here NYE and had the hibachi. Haven’t been here in years but it seems the food quality and prices have improved since last I’ve been here, at least for the hibachi. The portions for the salad and entrée were extremely generous that I had to take some home. Fried rice is included whereas other places usually charge extra. Had a very disappointing experience at Shiro at Atlas Park earlier in the month. I ordered the steak there and it was a poor cut and minuscule amount. At Narita, you get Filet Mignon for $ 20.95 and the quality of the steak was excellent.(I actually ordered the Nara for $ 2 more, which is a combination of any two meats not including lobster so I ordered the filet & salmon.) Our waiter was attentive and provided excellent service despite being busy for NYE. The hibachi chef that evening was great, cooked our food to perfection and was entertaining. Why go all the way to Atlas Park or Benihana when there is a great hibachi option here in Forest Hills? I will definitely be back. Note that they only have 2 hibachi tables so if you go on a busy night, you might want to make reservations.

Ummm, The sashimi I received could have defiantly been more fresh. The restaurant itself is very classy. I would give it a 3 stars but the service is amazing. My waiter was so sweet as well as the sushi Chiefs !

I liked this place and I would come back again! Service was great(loved getting hot towels upon being seated). Good variety in the menu for all the different sushi rolls, the food was great, and I just thoroughly enjoyed the experience and atmosphere.

Please, do not order from this place. I rarely write reviews but I just had to write one after the terrible delivery service they had. It said delivery by 8PM(we ordered at 6:50PM), but it’s 8:40 and we are still waiting. We called in and they said it was going to be another 30 mins. The excuse they had was they needed to tend to all their tables before they start delivery service, not sure if that was a lie or just very bad business model. Please stay away.

I find the quality of sushi good, though not much variety in the rolls. Salmon broken heart and OMG are my favs. Sometimes delivery takes an hour though. 45 mins norm.

I’ve been going to Narita’s for years since it’s one of the only Japanese restaurants in my neighborhood. The food is good, but nothing too spectacular. I recently went for their lunch special and got the pork katsu bento box. The pork was good, but the California roll that came with the set was subpar. However, the set was really inexpensive(less than $ 10,) so you can’t really expect that much. I’ve had their shrimp tempura for dinner before, and that dish is really good and came with a lot of huge shrimp tempura pieces. I’ll definitely return again in the future, but it’s a 3 star place.

My first time at Narita tonight. Service is not pushy at all and décor is nice, but the quality of the sushi(for the price) is below average. This can’t be saved by the non-pushy/pleasant waiters and hostess. We ordered a small plate of sushi and sashimi for about $ 25 and the fish tasted stale. But, on the plus again, the servers were nice. **There’s a small area with a tatami mat.

This review is based on my delivery order from June. I ordered some sort of sushi entrée where the pieces you get are predetermined and 2 pieces of uni(sea urchin) sashimi off Seamless. I requested that the tuna be substituted for squid(same price on the menu) in the special requests box and waited for my food. Imagine my surprise when I get 0 squid but 2 pieces of octopus! Sue me for thinking that a sushi chef should know the difference between octopus and squid. Here’s a hint: Octopus is purple and dark skinned while squid is translucent or white all over. Oh look, I didn’t have to be a sushi chef to know that. The uni was presented in a flower-shaped-ish cucumber slice but it tasted like it had been soaked in preservatives and was extremely dry. Honestly I’ve gotten better uni from a place that sells $ 1 sushi a la carte. Perhaps the restaurant purchases east coast uni which is a big nono as every chef worth their salt knows that west coast uni is so superior that it isn’t even comparable to whatever uni imposter they served me. The cucumber flower was a nice presentation gesture, but was offset by the plastic take out box that my food sat in. I mean the white box and clear lid that holds your Chinese restaurant fried noodles. At least get the signature sushi take out box that the even the cheapest sushi bars use. All in all, I was very disappointed with what I received. Normally I’d say that you get what you pay for, but the prices weren’t so cheap either and I literally did not get what I paid for when the chef mistakens two completely different fish and gives me the wrong one. I’m extremely hesitant to try this place out again and most likely won’t, but since I’ve only ordered from here once I’m willing to believe this was an off day for the restaurant. I advise against ordering delivery or take out from here because at least if they mix up your order, you’ll be able to send it back to get what you actually paid for.

This is the best place ever for Japanese restaurant in Forest Hill area. The food is amazing, plus the warmest hospitality shown by the owner, Stephanie. She treated me like coming to her house and made didn’t want to leave The food? Words can describe it. The simple dish such as Sishito Peppers is grilled right with great taste. The Sishamo Fish? Full of flavor and caviar. Shall I keep going on… The hamachi. Tender and melted in my mouth. The fresh sashimi that bounce in your mouth. Oolala. I know what is called foodgasm now

If you have to catch a movie first, do not go here– even if you have at least 2 hours to spare. Me and my boyfriend went to dinner here for hibachi with another couple. We were the only ones at the Hibachi table. We got there at 8:10 and had reservations. At 8:30 the server came over to take our order. Then it took another 20 minutes to get our soup and salad. It seemed as if they were waiting to fill up the rest of the table, which was definitely annoying. Finally we got our salad and while eating, the hostess sat another 4 people. This waiting game happened throughout the meal. The same thing happened to the other group at our table. What was even more terrible was that they watched as our meal was cooked and served to us before even ordering their dinner. When the cook finished his show, he cleaned the top of the grill with a spray and rag. The rag smelled terrible. I noticed it and didn’t say anything but then my friend asked if I smelled mildew. Not to mention that this restaurant had carpet-which was kind of gross in the first place. On the plus side amazing fried rice and ginormous portions!

Thirty five years for a restaurant to be in business typically means one of two things. One: Amazing food and top notch service. Two: They own the building. Narita us not #1 and probably not #2, so an undiscovered answer still looms. My guess is that Sushi and Hibachi were new to Forest Hills back in the mid 90’s and the culinary theme carried through a desire by patrons long enough to remain a staple on the Austin Street dining scene. The two deluxe platters contained roughly thirteen pieces of sushi and sashimi each, which equates to approximately $ 2.00 a piece. Not worth it at all in comparison to what that some amount of money buys you outside of Forest Hills. So I inquired if there was a platter for two, thereby possibly increasing the individual sushi count which would cost about the same, roughly $ 50.00. The look of confusion had me off the subject rapidly as I was in no mood to attempt an explanation. Large sake was too hot, not large by market standards and a pungent taste of liquid burnt rice lingered far too long, but did the job. Relitavely empty was the dining area, we were seated with my friends back to the Hibachi grill. My mischievous mind decided not to warn him about the flammable oil dousing the metal just over his right shoulder. The heat and illumination of the ignited flame spun him around like a top, but in bad form by the grill pyrotechnic to use so much oil. The Miso Soup was good enough to add another half star to this 2 star dining experience.

I live in the neighborhood And have been coming here for years with my friend from the city. She thinks this resturant is better than her place on the upper west side. Although the service is slow the r rolls are good I recommend it

Prices were reasonable, check. Nice outdoor seating, check. Excellent service by the attentive staff, check. Pretty decent/good/fresh sushi, check. The rolls were delicious. I’ve had better spider roll, but I’m very particular when it comes to the batter on my soft shell crabs. The verdict is I’ll be back for sure, seeing that I’m a sushi fiend why wouldn’t I. FYI this is a better spot for groups, or if you’re planning to take a date because it is more formal and bigger space. Also this spot doesn’t close at 3pm: the place is popping at night(someone should really update the hours).

My husband and his family dined here before. This is a nice modern-style Japanese restaurant. It’s not traditional in terms of food selection; however, they have some nice bento boxes to choose from. I ordered a bento box(the one without the tempura) and had a pretty good dinner. I hardly order a bento box at a Japanese restaurant because I’m a hard core sashimi eater. My bento box came out pretty good. Overall the food was OK. They have 2 hibachi tables, small sushi bar and quite a big seating place. The seating is comfortable, cushion chairs, good for my mother-in-law(although I know she doesn’t care) *:) From our table I could hear the«sound of the knives,» the chef’s getting ready to serve you better *;) I’d go back to this place if we happen to be in the neighborhood.

My favorite: an appetizer called the magu bomb; it’s an avocado stuffed with seared tuna and tempura flakes. Amazing and only served seasonally, I think it’s served in the summer so it’s about time I visit. Narita has a great sushi menu and I love that they give their patrons hot towels to wipe their hands before orders are brought out. I never feel rushed when I’m here and find it appropriate for both family night and date night. I tend to stick to the sushi menu and always try something different when I’m there and have never gotten a roll that’s too loose or one that doesn’t have the right
